there's really no need to unroot just use the stock kernel, recovery, delete Su app and it will look just as stock looks or just use search

Downloaded, thank you.
Im going to lose root after this RUU update?
prerequisite:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562890
and the AT&T section included...
Yes you will lose root and you would also need to relock your bootloader as well.

MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!
Make sure that if you have a custom recovery that is is updated & double check that it is. Write the version numbers down to confirm, both before & after.
There was an early recovery that could not (CANNOT) be overwritten without flashing a modified PH39IMG file first, then flashing stock or new modified recovery.
If you update with your device with that original recovery, you may be very sorry.
Ok so I put the ICS that Pirate put up before he got mad and took it down. Doing what I had to do in order to get that on my ohone, does that, mean I'm already set to use this RUU and get the "official" ICS update if I so choose?

No you need to relock the bootloader in order to use the RUU.
Ok that's what I had thought, just all this talk of different recoveries and stuff started to confuse me lol... Thanks for the help

Stock Vivid and Beyond ICS
After reading some of the posts - I have a few questions.
I have a stock AT&T Vivid. I believe I can just install the following directly - correct?
http://dl3.htc.com/application/htc_vivid_att_RUU_3.26.502.56_US.exe
Then after upgrade to ICS -- can some one point me to the correct direction to ROOT and SIM UNLOCK the Vivid after I upgrade to ICS?
Thank you!
Run the ruu...Unsure of which tools exactly are for just rooting youl, have to either call att for a simunlock code or purchase one from online

So, just to confirm, I assume that "YES" I can run the update on stock AT&T (no rooting required) and then after I upgrade to ICS any RUU will root -- nothing special to root ICS?
Thank you!

RUU=ROM Update Utility. These are full builds released from HTC that will NOT have root. A lot of custom ROMs are built from an RUU, but rooted during the cooking process.
thanks works great! a little slow on my virtual machine windows but that's not the ruu's fault, it's my lack of memory. one thing it doesn't tell you is to put it into fastboot mode.
do we know if Rogers Raider can work with this ?
anybody with rogers already flashed this, please confirm.
Look 4 posts up I already said it will only work for att

What do you mean by this? That before I run the ruu, I need to update CWM to the newest version?
I have arhd Rom which is perfect for me as it has all the bloat stuff removed, but I need an unrooted version so that my work email client and Sky Go will run. Is there a way to completely unroot? I tried removing superuser, busybox and Su but Sky Go and work email still complain that my phone is rooted ? Thanks for any guidance.

Ultimately you need to install a stock RUU/ROM.zip. What you have to do before that depends on if you have S-OFF via Revolutionary or an unlocked HBOOT.

But I don't want a stock Rom, and I don't want to loose CWM recovery either, I just want to unroot my customised Rom, is it possible ?

Nope. I did tried to unroot (unproper) by deleting the superuser apks in /system/app. I did that on my friend's galaxy ace. But his phone is stock.Try deleting /system/bin/sh too.

Hi guys
I was wondering if I can remove the bloatwares with titanium backup Permanently with s-off. As with s-on all the bloatwares restore once I restart the phone.
These bloatwares are bothering me. But I wanna keep the stock Rom.
Thank you

Search for Rom cleaner ver1.4
that will do it without S off
You don't need s-off, just root. Select in TB and tap Uninstall.

You apparently don't have /system r/w access. What rom and firmware are you on?
Everything stock. I only have root
Ok I'm done trying. I will just flash viperone or maximumhd as I like Rom that offers ota updates
Thx

The stock kernel has system write protection enabled. Flash flar2's bulletproof kernel and then titanium will work.

I have gotten a new phone and want to put my htc desire c back to stock with stock rom, boot, recovery and unroot. If there a tool kit for this or do I need to re flash everything. Help would be appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

You can try but it may not work
if it didn't work just follow that form
Just flash the zip on form using recover
Than boot your phone into boot loader
than flash kernel
And then flashing recovery

Before I do it I have a few questions...on my s3 I had Odin to go back to complete stock with an app that reset the flash counter. Does HTC have some tool? Also does this method backup your ROM. From my understanding it doesn't. Thank you very much!
Also...I have a rogers HTC one....am I in the right forum
