I just noticed that I can't seem to add add lockscreen widgets to my Moto X. On the lockscreen I have the camera if I swipe to the right but nothing happens if I try swiping to the left. On my Galaxy Nexus I get the plus icon that lets me add widgets.I don't have any security right now either, just swipe to unlock. Are lockscreen widgets supposed to work on the Moto X?
Never mind, got it working again. Activating the google apps device policy app with my university seems to have disabled them. When I tried to add my Moto X to my google device manger, it made me activate that. Oddly, after deactivating the device policy app, the Moto X still appears in my devices and I can use the find my phone feature.

I'd like to turn the lockscreen security off in areas where I feel secure doing so. When i'm out taking public transportation or any other areas with any risk, i'd like the ability to easily turn security on.
Right now i'm using Xposed Framework with GravityBox 2.6.1. I'd prefer there to be a quick settings toggle that enabled/disabled the lockscreen security but didn't see that option in GravityBox (would request it in the thread for it but it looks like I can't until I post more here?).
Does anyone else have a setup similar to what i'm trying to achieve?
"No Lock Screen" app doesn't seem to work. Currently using "Toggle Lock" which does work as a widget but the size of it is so small at 1x1 (have to resize to enlarge but ends up taking too much space). Also the problem with toggle lock is if you close the Toggle Lock app in the multi-tasking in seems to break this setup.
EDIT: Toggle Lock has issues too after awhile it still asks for unlock randomly when launching apps/notifications
I used Tasker combined with Secure Settings (both on play store) to achieve something similar. When I'm connected to my home wifi, my password is disabled. When I'm connected to no wifi or any other wifi, my password is enabled.
I know this isn't the same as having a single press to toggle the password on and off, but since you can create a tasker task to do this, I imagine it can't be that hard to use Tasker App Factory to make an app that toggles the password on and off. Then just put that app on your home screen and you should be good to go.
Thanks! I'll look into that. The toggle lock app seems to have problems.

Thanks! I tried and it seemed to work great at first (no issues with closing the app by mistake). Then i noticed later on how the phone would be unlocked yet accessing text messages from the notification bar would request the password.
What I ended up doing was setting a shortcut for Nova launcher 'Activities' > 'Settings' > 'Unlock selection' ChooseLockGeneric. This allows me to get to that settings page quickly and directly but I have to manually set up the password each time. Works though!
Call me Newbee (I am one, just got my Moto X as an upgrade for my loved Razr I), but i just cannot figure out: how can I make Dashclock my lockscreen -instead of the much praised Active Notifications (for me too little information)??
I can install Dashclock without problems, I can set it up as widget on my homescreen/ launcher, but I cannot find a way to install it as LOCKSCREEN instead of Active Notifications. If I turn ANs off, screen goes on with my pin lock (exchange company policy), and I cannot find a way to get Dashclock as my lockscreen.
Best friend Google did not help, neither browsing these threads for advice. Am I doing something wrong, or Dashclock lockscreen does not fit in Moto X?
Thanks for any help on this frustrating issue.
Swipe left on your lockscreen and hit the big + button. Then add the DashClock widget to it. Once you do that, long-press the DashClock Widget and move it to replace where the old clock used to be. By the way, Active Notifications an the Lockscreen are two different things. Play around with that first to see if you like how it works.
Thanks, solved. Just for info/ future learning; the problem was my company mail restriction, the pinlock combined with company restriction did not allow to swap/ install lockscreens.
After temporarely removing company policy I was able to install Dashclock w/o any problems; as You suggested Active Notifications AND Dashclock running together!
Thanks for advice.
PS: problem NOT solved.. Although I can change lockscreen to Dashclock when company policy is off, after turning my company mail account on (and restrictions on again) lockscreen goes back to default (clock) and cannot change it back to Dashclock (no swapping page possible)..
Very annoying, as I need my company post/agenda. Any ideas /workaround, other than rooting, please?
I received my VZW Moto X in the mail yesterday and played with it most of the day before accepting the Kit Kat OTA.
I can't help but notice the change in the digital clock widget... I really liked the bold hour with the thin minutes... any way to get that back without resorting to another app like HD Widgets?
Also, I'm coming from a GS3 and was able to hide apps from displaying in the app drawer on my old phone, which I can't seem to be able to do on my Moto X... is that a Samsung/Touchwiz feature? I ask because I have a couple paid apps with unlock key apps that I got used to not having to see.
I also notice the lack of Developer Options at the bottom of the Settings menu... is that because I'm on VZW?
These are really just minor annoyances and not major problems, but any help would be appreciated.

to enable developer options..
go into settings, scroll to bottom select About Phone..
Then scroll to the bottom and press the build number repeatedly until the developer countdown finishes. voila! you have developer options.
Sorry, I cannot help you with the other things.

It would be complicated, but you could side load an older APK of deskclockgoogle.apk from a 4.2 ROM and disable the preinstalled version. Some additional tweaks might be required. Alternatively, the Chronus app that's available in the market looks identical and lets you customize a ton more.
Check those unlock key apps to see if they give you a native option to hide the icons from the launcher. Otherwise, you can use a custom launcher like Nova to hide the apps you don't want to see.
I tried Chronus but for some reason I can't add the widget to the home screen, it just doesn't show up on the widget menu. I can add it to my lock screen, just not my home screen. Is it a 4.4 compatibility issue maybe?
Edit: Never mind... For some reason it's available in the widget menu now... Weird.

I'm using a Verizon Moto X. After the recent 4.4 Kitkat upgrade, I have decided to reset my phone.
Everything seems to work great, except I noticed that the Lockscreen Widgets have disappeared.
On a typical Nexus device running 4.4, one should be able to re-enable widgets through Settings -> Security -> Enable Widgets.
However, Motorola seems to have disabled this option on the Moto X 4.4, and so I'm not sure how I can renable Lockscreen Widgets right now.
Is this a common bug? Has anyone found workarounds?
Thanks.

Nevermind. Issue resolved. The setting is there if I don't use NFC Unlock. Looks like a Motorola bug. I'm going to report this...
i was wondering this same thing yesterday. thanks for posting.

It still works though, just disable NFC unlocked, enable widgets, and then enable nfc unlock again and you're good to go.
So supposedly the latest 5.1 on my 2013 Moto X with Verizon XT1060 has multi-user support and "guest" mode that is supposedly accessible by tapping profile circle in top right but when I tap this I just get my contact and nothing about adding a user or switching to guest mode. What's the deal. My Nexus 7 on 5.1.X has this and release notes mention it. Did F&*@^$*(# Verizon disable this?! Ugh!
Looks like there are a few OEMs not enabling multi-user mode. Follow this to get it back. It will add the option for Users in settings, where you can then add a new device user. Tapping on the icon in the quick settings pull-down seems to be broken still, but at least you can add more users.
Thanks for the link. It worked, but the pull down doesn't. Annoying but better than nothing! Thanks!
