Hi,
I'm thinking about picking up a Dev Edition Moto X to use on T-Mobile. I'm currently on a Nexus 4 and do not have any tethering services. With my Nexus 4, I cannot tether on Android 4.4 unless I root and customize a system file. I'm curious if anyone else uses the Moto X on T-Mobile and has been able to tether successfully via a user agent change on Android 4.4.
So far, the threads I've seen are related to modifying Verizon Moto Xs to allow tethering.
Thanks.
Anyone on T-Mobile and tethering with their Moto X?
Yep. Using easytether pro currently. No root needed and works perfectly

The Nexus 4 on t-mobile should be able to tether on 4.4.2 update without tethering services. The 4.4 kitkat somehow disabled tethering but the 4.4.2 re-enabled it. Does anyone else have experience with tethering without root and without using an app like easytetherpro or is this not possible?
Thanks.
Isn't this restriction made by the carriers and not by the phones software (or is it both?)?
I just checked with my moto makers t-mobile running 4.4 and it works flawless with my tablet (wifi tether, haven't checked BT yet).
The thing is, I live in Sweden.

Is there a Wi-Fi hotspot app that works with the moto x without root?
Is there a work around to use the hotspot on the moto x? Can you use SQL editor to accomplish the task like on my bionic? Please help...

Is there a way to have a hotspot hack on the US Moto X 1053 GSM unlocked for T-Mobile?
Sorry, my search intents failed me.
I had it working previously using this info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...native-tether-fix-4-4-2-t2644867/post50243753

Wow, that was fast, I feel dumb.
Did you enjoy it overall despite any minor hiccups?
Info has a way of hiding itself just when you need it
I only used it a handful of time for small tasks, but having the functionality is definitely useful.

Use the closed framework WiFi tether app. It bypasses the "entitlement check" instead of the old sqllite trick

I remember on my two last Samsung phones the would automatically connect to ATTWiFi hotspots.
Now that I am on a Moto Dev ED with ATT service is there a way to be able to use that same function with this phone?

Only the XT1058 AT&T variant has that functionality built-in.

Could that app be used on the XT1053 by chance?
Don't want to change my build prop tho.

Guys in India might be aware of the problem victara owners are facing while using Jio Sim in victara as Jio has not officially given support to Moto X (2014) while it has given VoLTE support to Moto G3, Moto E2, and most recently Moto X Play. Still no support for Moto X (2014) and it might not in the near future also because its already a 2 year old device. And as Moto X (2014) has Snapdragon 801, it supports VoLTE as far as hardware is concerned (proof attached). All we need is a software patch to enable VoLTE on victara so I am inviting all the developers of victara if anyone could help fellow Indian victara users to get that patch somehow by looking at the updated device tree of phones like Moto G3, Moto X Play which have been provided with VoLTE software update to work with Jio.

nope, even the moto g3 or the moto e doesn't have VoLTE, there are no advanced calling features on the moto g3 or moto e i can confirm, moto x 2014 and moto x play has VoLTE support but the only thing is that it just needs to be activated, it can be done by editing the build.prop i believe but you can activate VoLTE on moto x 2014 by flashing the verizon stock rom and replacing the modified build.prop and then you'll get all the services that verizon offers in that way you can enable VoLTE on victara

Sim works but only data and you have to use 'Jio4GVoice' app for calls.

can you confirm how the voice call works ? is it working via the jio4g app cause when i dial a number via the native dialer it disconnects but when i call from the jio4g voice app only then it connects so i think VoLTE must be enabled to directly call from the dialer

In Chandigarh, Jio doesn't have Band 3 (1800 MHz). It only has Band 40 (2300 MHz) and Band 5 (850 MHz) which are unsupported by Indian variant XT1092 so you won't get signal there.

Any call you place from native dialer gets picked up by the Jio4GVoice app if you have a single sim device like Moto X (2014). And you don't need VoLTE for this app. It is meant for those phones which don't have VoLTE support on Jio

Thanx for the reply. Is there any patch or something or some changes in prop.built for getting the signal? Otherwise I have to buy a new 4g phone..

Any build.prop changes won't help. There is a tool named 'QPST' which can be used to unlock LTE bands on Qualcomm devices but there is a high chance of bricking your device doing so. Moreover even though you succeed in doing so, I am not sure Motorola included an antenna for 2.3 GHz (Band 40) in Moto X2 so you won't receive signal even if you enable band 40 support at SoC level. So to put things straight there's nothing much you can do about this.

yeah i've been using it on my victara and i know now but i know this too that victara supports VoLTE considering it has the hardware support but it needs to get activated maybe via an update or if possible through CM i'm on RR rom and i see no VoLTE option to enable it

but there's a flashable zip of verizon moto x 2014 if you flash it and replace the modified build.prop which is also available then you get all the verizon services and through that you can get VoLTE working but i'm not doing it cause if maybe in future i move to a cdma network on my victara then i'll have to again first flash the xt1092 firmware so it'll be a long process but you can give it a try i'm just saying
