Use Samsung Kies and update your phone to a newer build.
Download a root package from here (search for your build after the update) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
Download odin3 1.85 and flash the rom (in odin only put the tar file in the pda box - the phone has to be in download mode {volume down+power+home pressed}) .
Go online (google play) on the phone and download the clockwork mod and install it.
Download the latest stable CM10.1.2 from here: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=stable&device=galaxysmtd
Put the cm10 archive on the sd card and power off the phone.
Enter in the recovery mode (volume up + power + home) and using the volume select Wipe Data/Factory Reset and in advanced Wipe Dalvik Cache. Go back and select install zip from sd card. If it's done quick do the install from zip again.
The full tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493
Do the root like i said because it's easy and then follow the guide from point 4 "• Using the volume buttons to navigate up and down select..."
After search for a google play app pack (gapps) and put it in the sd card and install it using recovery mode.
I did this yesterday and it works great.
i made the same as i told you in the last post

and i installed CM 10.1.2
and all i s ok for now, i have 2 problems no service and the mobile reboot from its own when i dont use it....crazy
is it possible that i have the problem cuz i didänt make Lag Fix for it????

Don't worry about that. Part of memory has been reserved by the CM. You may like the CM10.2, it is in nightly stage but even faster than 10.1.3 and you will have about double battery life. But read very carefully whole first post before installing it. It is bit odd way comming from cm10.1.3
Or quote my text (reply this e-mail) and I will send you the workflow, it isn't absolutely clear written in the opening post ofnthe thread.

More information about RAM (in example the semaphore kernel ...http://www.semaphore.gr/how-to/use-semaphore-jb
"Bigmem
When the kernel boots, it reserves some RAM to be used by some drivers (video, capture, JPG) for DMA (Direct Memory Access). In Linux kernel this reservation have to be done only during boot. It was found that using less reserved memory for video capture, the kernel can operate normally without issue with the only regretion that 720p video recording is not possible. Enabling this option will leave ~13MB more available RAM.
Phone must be rebooted to enable this feature. After the device powers down the information about this option is lost and you have to reboot the phone again.

Ok, from CM10.1x it should work like this:
This is the thread of CM10.2 development for the i9000:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2385178
Read whole the first post there.
Preparation:
Before upgrading, first prepare all this for the case anything goes off the plan (it shouldn't, but who knows...):
make nandroid backup
download zip files of your presently used ROM (cm10.1.3) and gapps for Android 4.2.2 and save them in your phone
download zip files of the new ROM you want to install (cm10.2) and gapps for Android 4.3 and save them in your phone
boot your phone into the recovery mode (CWM) and check if all zip files are visible
Now if all the files are visible you can upgrade (some CWM recovery versions can read zip files only from the external SD, some other versions only from the internal SD card, some both). If they are not visible, don't even try upgrade (and don't wipe any data) but reboot phone and move the zip files to another place (for example if they were not visible on internal SD, move them to the external SD card) and after you moved the files, do again the check like I wrote you above.
Upgrade:
make factory reset/wipe data
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache under "advanced"
install zip of the CM10.2 nightly build (possibly you need to install twice, as it uses different re-partition and only warns the first time)
install the Gapps for 4.3 right after, while still in recovery
while still in recovery go to "advanced restore" and restore only /data from your last nandroid backup of the cm10.1.3
go back to first menu, reboot
enjoy, all your data from presently used cm10.1x build should be there, including Google account
If anything should go wrong, make the same procedure like you did for the installing CM10.2, wipe all and make factory reset, after that just instead of the CM10.2 zip flash your CM.10.1.3 zip and gapps for Android 4.2.2, reboot, boot again to recovery, restore your whole nandroid backup of the CM10.1.3 build.
Let me know if it worked well

FLASHING DISCLAIMER APPLIES!
Should anything go wrong, please make sure you have a backup of your firmware from samfirmware.com or use CheckFus http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032437
How to install from stock firmware:
This procedure assumes that you are still using Froyo so there is no need to flash any firmware
1. Download attached ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery for Froyo. Flash as 'One Pacakge' using Odin
2. Download S5570XWKC1_MOD_ROM.zip and save it on the root your SD card ==> http://www.multiupload.com/0INURR5M72
3. Turn off phone. Go into recovery mode by pressing and holding the Home + Power buttons. Release buttons when you see the Samsung logo
4. Once you are in recovery mode you will get lot of options on screen. In recovery mode touchscreen does not work, so use the Volume button to toggle through options, Home button to select option or confirm action, and Power or Back button to go back to the previous menu.
5. Select 'wipe data / reset'. Confirm action
6. Select 'install zip from sd > 'choose zip from sdcard' > file in Step 2. Confirm action
7. Go back to previous menu and select 'reboot system now'
Done!

No because this is stock theme.
Please note this is a Froyo ROM. If you are coming from Gingerbread, you need to flash a Froyo firmware first using Odin.

Great work Parasmi.
It's just one thing that I will ask you to consider : some apps that you included in the zip package. For instance, AFAIK Root Explorer is only available as paid version only. How could you manage to include it in your ROM ? I hate to see this great ROM turned into a warez ROM. And secondly, SetCPU, though it's free for xda-dev members, its' developer explicitly asked ROM Developers not to include SetCPU. You can see his post here :
SetCPU for Root Users [2.2.4] Undervolting and more 07/07/2011
Or I'll just quote part of his OP here :
coolbho3000 said:
ROM developers: Please do not include SetCPU in your ROM. I appreciate the work you're doing, but link to this thread instead, and I'd really appreciate it if you mention that SetCPU is available on the Android Market.
SetCPU is a CPU speed tweaking application for Android. More specifically, it allows control of certain aspects of the Linux cpufreq driver, allowing for overclocking, underclocking, or tweaking speeds and settings on many Android devices. It will work with most if not all rooted Android 1.5/1.6/2.0/2.1/2.2/2.3/3.0/3.1 builds on most devices.
The program is free here for XDA members. It costs 1.99 on the Android Market and available for purchase on the Amazon Appstore for users in the US.

I tried once, failed. Then I deleted the file from SDcard, copied it again but it failed again with same error... I was able to extract the zip correctly so I don't think the file is corrupt. Perhaps Latin and European devices are more different than we thought.

Greetings,
Me and krook1 have been working on a CM9 port for the Lenovo Ideapad K1. This is an Alpha release as there is still a lot of work to be done. I have included instructions to either flash as an update.zip with CWM recovery, or if your still on stock you can use the nvflash package.
I have very limited time to invest to this project so if anyone would like to help please join us at freenode IRC room #ideapad-k1. The source code download link is posted below.

This is excellent news.. ! Great to see progress on K1 custom ROMs!
Even though i have flashed custom roms on other android devices, i am a nOOB when it comes to K1 -- ie, should the tablet be rooted first before one can flash this ROM ? DISREGARD THE POST BELOW. BROWSER STILL CRASHES. BUT THIS ONE INSTALLS IF ANYOE WANTS TO PLAY AROUND WITH IT.
Chrome browser works. The problem is the same that all other unofficial ICS builds on other devices have. It has to do with the Device Id Check in the apk from the market. Download chrome from the link below and you are smooth sailing.

Like any Android device, flashing custom rom need custom recovery installed (ie CWM revovery).
And root is needed to install custom recovery !
Even the default browser for ICS crashed a lot. So far no problems with dolphin browser HD from market. Its fast and smooth browsing on there.

I am not a NOOB, as I flash roms to my Droid Incredible all the time, but I have found the detail of instructions on flashing/root in the Idea K1 to be a bit confusing.
So any chance someone could add to the detail above, " if not rooted do install process #2 and follow these step by step"
Reads as if we can use the nvflash method, but no mention of rooting before, if that is the case great. I am looking forward to getting a new rom installed on my K1 as the stock is very buggy!
sorry, didn't see the nvFlash method. Not sur it need root or not (but think it's also needed)
quyTam:
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. The CWM update.zip is used if you have already used my Honeycomb rom with CWM included. If you are on stock, or unsure, just use the nvflash method. There are no requirements to using the nvflash method because it reformats all the partitions. (root is not required, and it doesn't matter what build you are coming from)
ok, thanks for your reply.
didn't know the nvflahs method; it works on all Android device ?
ps: I don't have K1 but Thinkpad. Is it because Thinkpad doesn't have his bootloader unlocked, so it's not possible to use nvflash ?

Great to hear, is there any special needs for nvflash or is everything included in the nvflash method. I seem to remember in one of the rooting methods reading about installing drivers or related software necessary to use nvflash.

That is exactly what I am trying to find out. I am planning on installing this when I get home in a few hours, but I am hoping that someone can add that detail to the post. I was looking a bit earlier, and found references to making sure you have these apx drivers installed for rooting etc, but no instructions.
Updated the nvflash section with the APX drivers and instructions.
Updated CWM recovery to 5.5.0.4 and fixed Backup/Restore. This will be incorporated into the next nvflash package. For now download the updated CWM recovery .zip in the 'Mods' section of the first post, and flash from recovery.
thank you..! Will try this out soon...
if i have to go back to stock rom from this ROM -- whats the process/steps?
Also, before I do this, is there a way for me to do a nandriod backup of the existing rom from within CWM ?

now i have 4.0.3. software.
if is possiblle this one [ROM][4.1.2 JB]Ultimate N7000 XXLSC JellyBean 4.1.2 v5.1,
plss video or something beacuse i am an begginer.
Thanksssss
which JB you want? JB TW leaks or custom.
TW JB can be either installed using PC odin
for custom roms you will need to root and get CWM and then install by following the ROM thread instructions
i want a custom,but i need all process,from begin to finish,backup and all stuff...
As you are on a dangerous kernel (wiping data may follow with a hard brick) do not wipe your data untill you are on JB
1. Go into settings => about phone => build number
2. Search for a kernel that corresponds to your build number, ex you will have N7000XXLSC in your build number so you are looking for XXLSC (NOTE: Read the kernel thread and understand it). Download this file onto your external memory.
3. Turn your phone off, then turn it on by holding volume up, home button and power on button all at the same time.
4 Select install zip from sd card, select it and let it do it's thing.
5 Your phone will reboot if all goes well and you will be on a safe kernel and you will have root
6. Reboot phone and go to recovery again, make a backup
6. Downlaod a jelly bean rom from the development forum and install according to instructions
If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask, but please read these threads first:

Have you flashed that file? Download it onto your external memory, turn your phone off, press and hold all at once three buttons: volume up, home button, power button. Select install from sdcard (or something along those lines but NOT update.zip, preload etc.) and select that file. Once that is done either watch that youtube video nokiamodeln91 posted or have a look at roms in the development sections:

Once you have flashed that file I gave you then copy a ROM (I suggest a TW ROM, link at the end of my post) onto your internal or external storage to your phone, go into recovery again (turn device off, hold power, home, volume up) and select backup. This will take some time. Then once that is done go for wipe data/factory reset (all of this in recovery), confirm, then wipe cache, then advanced => wipe dalvik cache. Once these wipes have been done you can select Install zip from internal/external memory card. Select the zip file you downloaded and you're ready
Here is the ROM: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ult...Ultimate_N7000_LSC_JB_4.1.2_v5.1.zip/download

Built the CM 10.2 or JB4.3 ROM from CM sources.
Changelog:
The changes here are the regular updates that are made in the source and unlike custom ROMs, I do not cherry pick the changes. This is sort of a Nighlty build ROM. Building the ROM with Linaro 4.8 for Speed.
Here are the things you should do to flash this ROM
.
1. Take a Nandroid backup of your current ROM.
2. Do a factory/data reset.
3. Flash the Rom.
4. Flash Gapps.
5. Reboot.
The above is required if you are coming from JB4.2 or before.
For those with the JB 4.3 build of 09/18/2013,
1. Reboot into recovery.
2. Wipe Cache.
3. Wipe Dalvik cache.
4. Install New JB 4.3 ROM.
5. Install Gapps.
6. Reboot and enjoy.
BaseBand Unknown: If you get baseband unknown and no GSM connection,do the following:
If you have root explorer,
1. Open the RootExplorer.
2. Go to sdcard folder.
3. Go to backup folder.
4. go to efs folder.
5. copy nv_/data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5

There could be some changes as I tried make a flashable zip. I think that files in zip should work. I have been testing several files and combinations. Hence the files in the ROM be different.
Let me know if the zip file does not work.
Thanks.
Feedback
he it is how I installed the rom.
1. Odin to default eclair from slimbean 4.2.2 Build 8. After boot, rooted it.
2. Flashed cm 7. 2.0 stable. And let it to settle for 5 minutes.
3. Flashed This 4.3 rom. it gave the error of wrong partition layout. flashed it again to solve it.
4. It rebooted into recovery automatically with new kernel, so I flashed 4.3 again. (if yours doesn't come to new recovery automatically then use 2 buttons combo to enter into recovery, make sure you have gingerbread bootloader).
5. Flashed GPS fix files and rebooted.
6. After 5 minutes of cyanogen logo boot animation, it successfully reached home screen.
7. Changed GPS.conf file in etc directory to my region and rebooted it. But Alas baseband disappeared. Changed kernel to Gearkernel for 4.3 and all things came to right path.
8. Used GPS status to check GPS functionality and wow it really worked. just make sure you have working internet connection.
9. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mobile data, everything works. except gesture typing of default keyboard. to solve this change keyboard to touchpal. you can use Swype or swift key. Battery timing seems good till now. haven't checked USB storage connection to PC yet. if anyone else have checked it please let me know.
10. overall stable and smoothly fast rom.

Thanks for the feedback. The change in partition does provide a warning and as you did you need to flash the rom once again. You don't need to flash the GPS zip files unless you are on s ROM that has GPS issues. This ROM doesn't have GPS issues. As you did, people have to change the GPS.conf to match their region or use faster fix app.
One again, thanks for the feedback.
Guys,
I got an email from Dropbox that my Public folder lnk has been suspended due to high volume of access and hence added a new link to download from mediafire. Hope this holds.
you are welcome.
following small problems annoy me very much.
1. enabling Ksm and zram in performance settings cause baseband unknown error. to solve it i have to uncheck them and change governor to ondemand in performance settings. then rebooting solves the problem.
2. as you know i changed kernel to gear kernel 1.0.8s, upon each boot i get annoying message of Android is upgrading, staring apps. i know it is for gear settings app builtin in this kernel being checked every time. is there any way to remove this message.
3. data of half of my user apps gets deleted upon reboot, i have to restore it from titanium backup. why this happens on every boot and only to half apps.
4. sometimes baseband changes to unknown upon boot even thoughihaven't changed any setting like zram etc.
5. you mentioned s roms have gps issue. what are s roms and how to solve their gps issue.
please take out some time to help.
After days of looking for a solution to the problem of every 2011 device I've finally managed to do it!
Many of you wanna enable ART functionnality in 4.4.2 because the device start "flying" with such a pill. So I've managed to modify the Int2Ext v2 script to run it lagless and conserving initial performance.
Prerequesites:
1. You have to make an EXT partition (I've got an EXT4 1 GB partition)
2. Flash the script BEFORE the first boot (like any other package such as gapps).
3. (Optionnal) Reboot once, and enable ART in developement menu.
4. Enjoy!
What it does exactly?
1. Increase the readahead cache for your sd to 4096 kb
2. Transfers /data/app & /data/app-private to the ext partition of the SD
3. Everything that a CronMod-INT2EXT script does

Small FAQ & corrected verision to avoid signal loss:
nos1609 said:
1. Tested in couple with Vanir/Carbon - unstable under ART, Dalvik recommanded
Tested on PAC working like a charm on both ART & Dalvik
2. To avoid reboots / FCs try flashing ART compatible gapps
3. About the "internal memory waste" Guys, please check the description of what the script is doing and what folders are moved onto EXT-partition. If everything would so simle as that, even ART mode couldn't overcome the laggynes and the lack of performance after moving everything to sdcard. The script is moving ONLY APKs to the EXT-partition. Dalvik, libs etc remains on the 470 Mb NAND to conserve initial performance. But enen that amount of free space is not enough to run ART experience at it full potential. because of very large dalvik-cache size.
4. EXT partition. Just google, XDA contains tons of manuals and tools to create one. If you'd like to simply try ART 512 MB one will be enough, you'll reach the internal NAND limitation. If you want using it in normal mode you can make the partition as large as you like.
5. Concerning the loss of signal, I think there are some lack of time for the device itself to get the new location of the files, so try this new package.

network lost
ok first.. if I flash the script(2.0 and 2.1) before first boot dosent work, phone goes into bootloop.
and secondly. i tried to flash the script after first boot(after completing setup guide and rebooting), worked fine but no network signal at all.
Also the 2.1 version does not work...i waited for 1hour and then rebooted my phone for 2-3 times but no success, still no signal.
Please make it work, coz this mod does exactly what i have been wanting for long, only the network signal is an issue.

I eventually get it worked without losing network signal, here is the workaround:
1. Flash ROM
2. Reboot
2. Flash Gaaps
3. Reboot
4. Flash Int2SD package (I used v2.0 and it worked)
If you still got no signal, just reboot, it will go back to normal

I was suffering that error too with Carbon Rom. Could u switch to another rom such as Vanir Rom. It worked for me
I'm using Vanir Rom & Dark Kernel
I haven't tested with ART runtime yet
Congrats!!
Working and tested on Jelly2KK v3
good job:good:
After using for 2 days, encountered few problems...
1) Everytime when i reboot, power on. All apps from internal storage disappear.
Solution: I have to go to CWM and clear cache and dalvik cache to fixed it... And the problem starts again on the next power on
2) Start up takes longer... Far too long
3) Sometimes, SD-card and internal storage both becomes undetected
Solution: Take a reboot...

Can we get the INT2EXT that puts the whole /data into SDEXT, including the dalvik? Or the whole /data on EXT but /data/data (app data) on internal. I have about 2.5gigs of apps and the internal can't store all of its dalvik.
I am also hoping that someone can confirm if this tweaked INT2EXT works with VanirAOSP KitKat

I really do not recommend moving dalvic on ext partition. Perfomance issue is mostly probable.

Yes, It worked well with Vanir ROM including both Davik and ART runtime, but ART runtime is quite unstable now for some apps to perform
What's with the signal issue once this mod is flashed?!
Three types of Roms and the issue occurs after flashing it!
