Your cid will not change until you run the command "fastboot oem write cid xxxxxxxx"
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
---------- Post added at 11:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:09 PM ----------
Also if you flash an ruu it will already be unrooted.

it won't go back automatically, the only way to change CID is by you manually using the "fastboot oem write cid 12345678" command. and please remember that CID is always 8 characters so if you want to change it back to O2, then
fastboot oem write cid O2___001 (three underscores!!)

Want to be running 1.28.401.x RUU EUROPE on M7_UL EE UK

I can't *quite* get what I need to do as bare minimum to get my HTC M7 One M7_UL on to 1.28.401 RUU so that I can get the OTA update top 1.29 and any future updates.
Do I need to
1. get S-OFF using the HTCDEV web site?
2. change my CID to HTC_001?
3. flash this RUU: http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/get...31.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed.exe
If there are other options that don't mean I'm alerting HTC HQ to me tampering that'd be grand.
1. You will need to use htcdev to unlock which will also wipe preloaded sdcard data and the entire device.
2. Install custom recovery or root stock rom if possible (then skip to 4).
3. Install rooted custom rom.
4. Can then s-off
5. Change cid to htc__001
Then for stock.
6. Restore preloaded SDCard data maybe, not sure if ruu does this
7. Install 1.28.401.x ruu
8. Flash 1.29.40.x ota
9. Wait patiently?
You can use revone to unlock without using HTCDev if you'd prefer, but you do need S-OFF to flash the generic EU RUU. So to recap:
1. S-OFF with revone
2. Change CID to HTC__001
3. Make sure bootloader is locked/relocked (use revone if required)
4. Flash RUU

HTC dev is for unlocking your bootloader. You do not need to unlock your bootloader to achieve what you requested just s-off.
If you wish to unlock your bootloader, use the revone s-off tool rather than HTC dev to do this.
Fair do, thought revone needed root, but if thats not the case then np.

Try flashing this one from within the RUU (rightclick on the RUU and open as administrator) so not via fastboot command http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1...13323127-1031113105-release-310878-signedexe/. No no no!
Get the 1.28.401.7 RUU, connect the phone in fastboot and run the RUU (it's an EXE). It will then flash it back to stock BUT you will not be able to return it to Three as they will see it's not the branded Three ROM and reject the claim
If you just want to use the phone again you'll be good to go as it will be stock - best to change the CID to HTC__001 before flashing the RUU too IMO
As for what nkk71 said about searching, read Rule #1 of this forum...

Oh, .zip? I thought it would be easiest to get the RUU in exe format and just run it off your PC.

I guess so, what version are u on now? If you've updated firmware to 2.24 then your touchscreen drivers have been updated and won't work with 1.28 backup.
You'll have to use an OTG with mouse, after restoring 1.28 backup, to receive updated OTA in order for touchscreen to work again.

Did you restore the backup or did you run the RUU?
If you restored the backup, then you also need to restore stock recovery.
Don't forget to change your CID back to what it needs to be (depending on what RUU you used or backup you restored)
And finally you'll have to lock your bootloader "fastboot oem lock"
Keep S-Off !!

Thanks for coming back, i am really pissed off.
So i run the RUU and installed but I didn't change the CID.
Now i have super cid, 1.28, android 4.1.2 and bootloader relocked. What i understand now is that the Cid should have been changed to match the RUU but i didn't do that.
So now been trying to unlock the bootloader again with the original .bin but that isn't working. Do i have to go back to Htc dev and get another .bin file because the CID has changed?
After that flash recovery, root, change CID and flash the matching RUU???

Thanks for coming back, i am really pissed off.
So i run the RUU and installed but I didn't change the CID.
Now i have super cid, 1.28, android 4.1.2 and bootloader relocked. What i understand now is that the Cid should have been changed to match the RUU but i didn't do that.
So now been trying to unlock the bootloader again with the original .bin but that isn't working. Do i have to go back to Htc dev and get another .bin file because the CID has changed?

Since u r s-off, I think u can change CID without needing to do all that.
Just go to bootloader->fastboot and change CID from ur computer.

How to install RUU exe file?

I received my HTC One almost two weeks ago, I bought it as US unlocked from Amazon but turns out to be unlocked but not the US version. I have had Galaxy Nexus and never had HTC device before. Now, I want to convert to the developer edition, I understand I need to unlock the bootloader, S-OFF, change CID and MID, and then finally install the developer Edition RUU. How to do that? Things on Nexus were different. Is there a simple guide on how to do so? Thanks in advance!
Unlocking bootloader + custom recovey + root tutotials are easy to find in this forum. Official xda video guides at the root of htc one forum.
For s-off search for "revone" if your hboot is 1.44. Search for "rumrunner" for hboot 1.54 and up.
To change cid: "fastboot oem writecid xxxxxxxx" where you replace x by correct cid.
Guide to change mid and run ruu: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2322820

if it's not too much trouble, could you stick with one thread, your quadruple threading is neither helping you or the forum.
you change you mid same as cid (but use mid):
fastboot oem writemid PN0710000 <- whatever u want it to be
fastboot reboot-bootloader
