Hello Everybody,
I am new here to 'Galaxy Note N7000 ' forum. I recently bought this phablet and I want to root it without bricking.
I have posted a screenshot here which shows details of my note.
After searching I have downloded this file.
"PhilZ-cwm6-DDLSC-ODD-4.90.8-signed.zip"
Is it ok if I flash this file using 'stock recovery 3e' ???
My note will be rooted after flashing this zip file??
Please Help...
Thanks in advance...
Sent from my Galaxy Note using XDA Premium
Yes.. Look for a newer version of DDLSC kernel. If you can't find, the one you have will also do the job.

Wow Thanks for the quick reply.
You mean to say I have to flash newer Philz××××.zip file using stock recovery and it will be done??
[Edit] What if anything goes wrong, I mean bootloop or something else?
Sent from my Galaxy Note using XDA Premium
I have never faced any bootloops flashing Philz kernel.. ever. just make sure you flash a DDLSC kernel only. What i meant was check if a newer version of DDLSC is available or not as what you mentioned is old.
Once the kernel is installed, the phone will be rooted with CWM recovery.

what are the benefits of rooting my GTN-7000..

thanx in advance.......
You can do all the stuffs which you cant do on unroot.like mods(call recording, power and volume key press click photo) can change user interface.increase speed of your processor.increase your ram.and much more.root means that your phone is in totally in your hand.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
You can remove the unnecessary bloatware by which your ram usage decreases, you can flash custom roms of your choice, particularly in our note we have a bug(emmc), you can get rid of it by flashing custom kernals which are safe, you can overclock or underclock your processor, you can avoid all kinds of adds by installing an app like adfree
I installed beats audio drivers which is possible only because of root
Now i have transparent accuweather widget
U can use custom boot animations.
Hit thanks if i helped

Since you are new, I would suggest you to read this (credit goes to dr. Ketan).
Read carefully dr. Ketan thread (the link I gave you), once you are understand and confident, then you can proceed.
He mentioned everything there... All the methods of rooting, and all the files needed for rooting.
Good Luck!

and If you are on the latest ICS, you may flash Philz Kernel direct from stock recovery.
You will get root with SuperSU installed + CWM Recovery v6 direct + don't forget it's a safe kernel to do wipe data (eMMC brick bug removed).
Philz Kernel is a modded stock ROM with those 3 benefits, all credits go to him for his great work.
The easiest way to root your device.
BUT....
Find the suitable firmware you are on now at your device. Don't flash the wrong kernel.
Good Luck again!

Hello,
This is what I'm currently running on the attachment and I have a rooted phone with SuperSU and CWRM (Philz). I was wondering if I am able to flash this rom safely:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1915302
FYI: I'm a newbie so please forgive me.
If anything else is needed for me to flash this ROM please let me know.
Thanks ~~~
What kernel are you on? Did you install philz kernel? If not then first flash a safe kernel like philz or speed mod or hydracore. Then you are good to go.

OP: the reason you are getting so many answers is because no one including you is sure if you have Philz kernel or are you on stock..
to make sure you have philz kernel.. boot into recovery (vol up+power+home).. if you see Philz CWM without having to install anything ..then you have the kernel.. if not flash a safe kernel

The reason here (and in many other threads) in getting so many answers is: some members only repeat what has been said before. It feels like these people want to raise their post counters by force - I assume they need a minimum of posts and thanks for a "recognized" in their profile.

If it's the padawan JB rom, I don't think this will work. I think you need a t-mobile Touch Wiz 4.1.2 boot image. I don't think any one has built a Jelly Bean Touch Wiz rom for T-mobile. I've been looking all over.
If anyone can tell me how to add touch wiz t o 4.1.2 image, I'll try to do it myself.

Are you talking about the Padawan rom? I've just uploaded the last ICS Padawan 9 build that the awesome ptmr3 built . I've swapped the boot image and KO files so it should be good to go

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2076303
You don't need gapps or the boot image for this rom. You do need the ATT twrp though. You can survive without using the superwipe but it wouldn't hurt.
And the TMO radio is needed also.
I've already patched the Wifi and Vibrate.

Yeah, all we can hope for is that TMO eventually gives us 4.1.2 s owe can use it as a base.
In the meantime, I've uploaded a Padawan 9 rom that I have already changed the boot and ko files on. I also edited the prop build. This was the last Padawan ICS build from ptmr3.
You still need to use ATT TWRP and flash TMO radio.

I thought the one written in wiki of our device was right.! :silly:
Flashing your phone voids your warranty. In the event that you need to have your phone repaired under warranty, you will have to flash it using the firmware it initially shipped with. If this is your first time flashing, it is therefore advisable to write down the original PDA, CSC and PHONE IDs that your phone shipped with. "Dial" the number *#1234# and write down the three ID strings. These exact three ROM parts can then be restored by downloading the appropriate stock firmware from sammobile.com.

I just got my Verizon S3 mini and I have no ideal how or what to install for recoveries and flashing. I've done a search and the closet I can find is install through ROM manager but I don't see the s3 mini or anything compatible with it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

there is two ways.
1. install odin to your pc and connect your phone for cmw install.
2. on your current recovery. (power+menu+volume up)
go recovery>install zip from sd card.

I appreciate the help, guess I forgot to mention that I have tried to install the CWM through Odin for the GT-I8190 on both odin3.09 and well as odin3.04, both fail on my SM-730V.

GT-i8190 and SM-730V are different devices. There are no custom recoveries for SM-730V yet :sly:
Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. Sorry if this is a stupid question I'm coming from the Motorola world but without a custom recovery I have no way of flashing a ROM correct?

The bootloader is locked on SM-G730 which means you can't flash anything that is not signed from samsung unless someone comes up with a way to unlock it.
You can still root it and debloat, tweak, run Xposed etc
Official firmware can be found on SamMobile in case you'll need it.
