So I fell into water with my new HTC one a few weeks ago and I was able to dry everything out and get the phone working. It was actually almost perfect except for there being some static through the speaker when on phone calls. There is however no static in speaker phone. Well just now the speaker became worse and now I can barely hear people on the phone. I was wondering if there is anyway the speaker can be switch to the other speaker that uses speaker phone while on calls? I have the ATT version but I thought it may not matter.
Yes just use the speakerphone toggle while on a call. Have you done that?

Hi,
Anyone has encountered crackling in the earpiece ? I am getting it everytime I place a call the moment I press the call button.
Appreciate your thoughts.
Cheers

I was going to make the same question but found your post.
I recently bought two galaxy S and one of them has a problem with the earpiece: when making a phone call there is a crakling sound (like an interference or electric spark). This does not happens all the time and it is very low but when it starts usually it continues into the conversation and sometimes can be quite anyoing.
I realized this because I have two phones at home and becasue I test every bit of hardware of them , in order to exchange the phone asap if I found a hardware problem.
Maybe this is a common fault: take you SGS, make a phone call and listen very carefully to the earpiece before the rigntones start. Do you hear anything? I can hear a soft crakcling or pure silent depending which pnone I use.
As it is now, it is not a big deal but I am worried the crakling sound would increases in the future. Do you think I should try to exchange/fix my phone now that it is on warranty and I have not root, mod, etc..?
I got mine fixed by Samsung service. Replaced motherboard.

I have recently noticed when I made my first call after ICS upgrade, at high volume during a call, there is slight disturbing humming with the voice of the other person as if something is vibrating inside. My note has never ever fallen from my hand even on my bed or sofa, so there's no possibility of any physical damage. Or could it be that the quality of earpiece speaker is really low that it starts giving such disturbances after some time. Also I checked from the service menu the dimmer option which gives constant beep sound from the earpiece speaker, but there's no disturbance heard with it. Anybody else experienced this?

Only the bottom speaker works after I have a call. Don't know why this is, ma the its to protect the ear. I was listening to music on my phone both speakers working, had a phone call then afternoon phone call only the bottom speaker works. I'm having to reset my phone to get both speakers working.
Anyone else noticed this?
Thanks

Weird issue here, when im in a call no one can hear me. They can only hear me fine when I press the speakerphone button. I tried using voice recorder as well and no audio recorded. I know there are two mics, but do they switch when you turn on speakerphone? So maybe one mic is blown?
Current setup
Latest firmware and radio, BadBoys 4.4.2 ROM,S-OFF

Adjacent to the USB input on the bottom of the phone will be the microphone. Try gently clearing it out with a safety pin to see if there's any gunk in there.
There's been known issues with the built in noise cancellation interferring with the bottom microphone. Try covering the back mic (the one that's top right of the camera) and talk into the bottom mic to see if you can hear anything. I don't believe there is a known fix yet for this issue for the Sprint HTC One if you have noise cancellation problems.
Viper ROM 5.7 has a setting to disable noise suppression, but that didn't work for me. I hear there's two noise cancellations. One built into Android and another for HTC. The Viper ROM setting disables only the HTC setting, not the android one.
I had this issue too and had to do a small "song and dance" with an HTC rep to trouble shoot the phone. They eventually agreed with my conclusion that the phone was broken. They sent me a replacement since I was under factory warranty and I haven't had any problems since. Best to call HTC and put in a trouble ticket.
Yeah might be a combination of both, just weird that it works only when I hit the speakerphone button while in a call. Thanks
I have had that issue sporadically on my one since the latest firmware update. Happens for no reason occasionally.Never did it with old firmware. When I have time I want to try reverting to older firmware to see if the issue is resolved.
I have had this problem for months. Speakerpho e works because it uses a separate Mic on the back of the phone on top.
The problem Mic is on the phone bottom near the charging port. Today I called my house pho e and screamed into the bottom Mic for two minutes and it's alive again for the fitst time in months!
How long I dunno worth a shot though since using speaker gets annoying.

Thanks that's what I need info on. I figured the speakerphone was the one on the back. oh well, i'll have to manage until April I guess.
I picked up a Nexus 6 recently and notice that there's a hiss on phone calls.
Whether it's using the phone directly with my ear on the top speaker or using a earbud with a mic, I can hear a noticeable hiss on phone calls.
Is this a network problem (ATT) or an issue with the phone?

That is gonna be an issue with the device. I would take it completely back to stock and see if it still does it.
