[Q] Xperia T (LT30a) Locked + Custom Roms - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Hey all,
I've been using my Xperia T on the Rogers network here in Canada for a couple months and wanted to throw a custom rom on it.
After doing some research unfortunately it is Not possible to unlock my bootloader. There is also no way to boot into "Recovery Mode" which I assume has something to do with the locked bootloader.
I've noticed that you can downgrade to .303 but those roms look like they are for LT30p. Will they work with my LT30a?
I was hoping to get a version of CM on my phone. Is it even possible? I've read that maybe I can load certain roms but will be unable to modify the kernel? Will that work ok?
Thanks for you time!

if you are willing to go for CM then the answer is NO. you need to have a BL unlocked device with you. did you check with http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com ? and your mobile as well to confirm whether it is unlock-able or not. Check Here ..
but even with a locked BL you can install custom ROMs to spice your device. there are some ROMs which are specifically designed to be used with locked BLs.. that means they will run on Stock Kernel with customer ROMs.. .. for my LT30at (BL locked) i'm using a custom ROM

Yes it is indeed locked and cannot be unlocked. There's one Rom for my device I saw but it looked dated.

You should be able to use any of the custom ROMs in the development section for locked bootloaders. I have an LT30at and I have used all of the ones in there at different times.

The link in my signature may be of use to you
you CAN boot into recovery mode but you have to install it first http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012738&highlight=cwm
to install it you must first root your device http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
rooting may not work for your current up to date rom
so you may have to flash an older rom first (I found one in bin4rys signature) http://uploaded.net/f/bd4cif

So I made it as far as rooting the phone, installing a version of CWM for locked bootladers. But after tying to install two different ROMS for locked bootloaders they both put me into a SONY boot loop that seemed like it would never end.

ok did you go through the CWM menu and wipe the system, data, dalvik cache and so on... before you flashed the rom?
It often takes allot longer to boot up for the first time but no more than... id say 5 minuets if that

Wiped everything etc. Just does the Sony logo. Then goes blank, vibrates once then repeated forever.

I don't think there is currently a way to do that. If you were to flash an unbranded firmware onto the phone would that allow you to unlock the bootloader (allowing installation of CWM)? I can't unlock my bootloader due to my PC being broken.

Flashing unbranded firmware will not allow you to unlock the bootloader if you currently cannot unlock it.
Well, no promises of any kind, but there is that one user which claims that after updating to 3.195 the bootloader status changed from non-unlockable to unlockable.
I have to stress out, I cannot confirm nor explain this and I do not propose that anybody tries this.

You can ask, but I bet they say no.
up to date, any method to unlock it?
Seriously?
I also have this problem, the boot loader is locked and I need to install the recovery. Prompt really working bootloader unlock method, none of the methods I did not ride. Through the website Sony have an error occurs, full of requests to install the update file, it weighs 1.5 gigabytes. I do not have as much Internet traffic to download it.
Currenty is possible if you are both rooted and in FW 303. Try this.

Boot loader, s off, someone tell me what the heck is going on here.

Okay, I have a couple of questions I'm hoping someone can answer.
1). What is the situation with the boot loader on the One? I know there is a developer edition, but are all of the other versions going to be locked down? Also, since there is a Dev version I assume the one won't be on their unlock website, right?
2) my second question is more about HTC in general, and s-off. I know it stands for security off, but what does it do exactly? I've heard its needed for flashing certain things like kernels, but I don't understand why that would he necessary if the boot loader is already unlocked.
Im on Verizon, hoping and praying that the One comes to us, if not I'm probably leaving them. Can't wait to get my hands on this great phone, and hopefully help HTC come out of the dumps

Chirp chirp? Are there not even any crickets in here?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
The One can be bootloader unlocked through htcdev. No problems there
Bootloader unlocked lets you flash custom firmware, but S-OFF gives you full control over what you want to do. This stands for NAND locked or NAND unlocked. What that does is give you access to normally restricted partitions on the phone, such as the boot and radio partitions. Even with bootloader unlocked, you need to flash the boot.img separately if you do not have S-OFF and radios cant be flashed
And doing the chirp chirp thing doesnt encourage people to answer. Just a tip.
Boot loader can be unlocked on all EU carriers by spending 5 mins on the htcdev site (its included under Other phones)
As for s off, not currently possible but also not needed. On tegra HTC phones you needed it to flash boot.img as part of flashing a new ROM but already bypassed for the One.

Technically its still needed, but theyve developed a workaround which is essentially fastbooting it from the phone.
Also correction, its not only on Tegra processors that this is an issue, its on all HTC devices because they all come NAND locked.
It's not needed but would be better if we can get s-off soon.

As said above me, flashing kernels during a rom flash (the rom zip will attempt to do it, but s-on prevents the boot.img from taking) without a computer or a workaround like SuperBoot, and you can also flash radios with s-off

[Q] Flashed CM 10.2 with locked bootloader

I did it through Clockword recovery mod. I wiped data and cache and installed CM 10.2 from a zip file. Now my phone has CM ROM and it seems like it has CM kernel too. How is this possible, since I have a locked bootloader? Will it be functioning normally?

You can't install any recovery with locked bootloader. Either it's unlocked or there's no custom recovery.

yes you could've, there's a fuse editing method that doesnt wipe internal data.
in order to check if its unlocked, turn off your phone. hold vol - button and plug in charge cable. you should be in s/w upgrade screen; in upper left corner you'll see that your bootloader is unlocked
if you hadn't unlocked bootloader, you would've softbricked the device while isntalling custom rom.

well.... u dont really even read what we answer to ur posts, do you ?
post #3 tells u to go to upgrade screen and check it from upper left corner. of course is not necessary to wipe anything to unlock the bootloader. at least for the latest way to unlock it , since im kinda new to android i've never seen the older ways.
Sorry, I did not comprehend your post, since I was not aware of the S/W upgrade mode.
I can't get past the "Please wait while upgrading..." message though.
By the way, yes, I did try the fuse editing method. However, an app said "all fuses are blown, phone permanently locked" and I wasn't getting that message before. I guess it was lying

Problem with recovery z1 Help please.

Ok so i've made a mistake, fortunately I can still use my phone but i'm in unfamiliar territory.
What I did was download the 4.3 Rom by RomAur, installed the rom and the recovery as per the instructions within the thread, then rebooted to flashmode and entered flashtool so I could flash the kernel and baseband from 290, but made the mistake of excluding kernel and baseband and flashing the only other option which was BOOTBUNDLE, and since then my recovery has been inaccessible.
I've reflashed the dual recovery but it won't allow me to access it via the power on up or down method or the adb reboot recovery method.
I really can't continue with this phone or flash anything without a working recovery, does anyone have any idea how to get my recovery back please??
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm also wanting to unlock the bootloader but without a working recovery i'm a little hesitant to begin.
Phone: Sony Z1 C6903

Flash the kernel and baseband from 290 in flashtool then.

Well i've gone and downgraded but used an unbranded ftf, which has now taken over my IMEI, which now reads 0000000000000000.
In a bad way here and stuck in work with limited internet, i'm now back on a 534 rom and feel like smashing this thing up.
Going home soon so will sit down and go through it all again from scratch, wish i'd just left it on my old monx rom now.
Bad times.
Any other ideas Greg ? Or anyone else?
just upgrade back, I believe you get your IMEI back that way..
The problem you are having is that you need unlocked boot to get a properly working recovery and root on 4.3

Ah i see, well i'm downloading an ftf which is t-mobile 534, it's the closest thing i could get to EE, as at the moment i have no recovery and no root.
So should i do this in this order.
get this tmobile 534 and re root and get recovery, i imagine at this point my IMEI will still be missing (hopefully not) then what would you do?
Update to 4.3 by using one of those roms? and then unlock the bootloader? As thats where I ended up losing recovery, i'm thinking thats maybe down to me flashing boot bundle instead of kernel and baseband through flash tool.
Also doesn't unlocking the bootloader require system rw access?
And thanks by the way Greg, i appreciate your help.
Same thing happened to me. So I flashed Nordic 4.3 kept my data booted then flashed the kernel that comes with twrp. So far everything is great

1) Update to 4.3 using a FTF of your choice.
2) Unlock bootloader (This will wipe system and internal memory so have a backup of internal sdcard)
3) Flash any of the three kernels from the top of this post, I am using the third one with philz recovery.
4) enter recovery and flash the SuperSU.zip found in that same post.

You do not need root to unlock bootloader. The kernels have the recovery incorporated into them

Is there any solid data on how/why some Z1s cannot be bootloader unlocked? I have a C6906 from Overseas Electronics which I think was sourced from Canda and cannot be BL unlocked, though it's sim unlocked and otherwise works fine on AT&T LTE.
I found a thread/post here mentioning that Sony may be able to "fix" these devices (and possibly for free, at that). I'm going to run down that angle, but if there's any technical data on what could be preventing the BL unlock I'd be very interested in doing some legwork on my own.

Not too sure mate, think its coded not to be unlockable, in which case someone would have to do quite a bit of digging to undo whatever was done. And seeing as that the vast majority of people knew to buy from a source that doesn't have the NO to unlocking the BL I would say that its not going to happen any time soon. I usually do a bit of digging before I buy a phone, rushed into this one and I'm paying for it now.
I'll check out that link you put up, maybe there's hope yet.
Edit: as for the link you put up, that's just for the sim lock.
If you want an unlockable phone then you'll either have to claim from a 3rd party insurer an hope that they give you an unlocked phone or contact Sony for an RMA and hope that they give you one. Otherwise I can't see it.
But in all fairness your missing custom kernels and aosp type ROMs. Most everything else will work fine, including all (well most) the ROMs that are in the android development section, so that's not a total loss by any means.
When roots fixed completely for 4.3, well see more.

I have managed to get it rooted but i would love to have the custom rom installed can some one please point me in the right direction, or is the answer still no that it can not be unlocked? and if so will it ever be able to unlock?

If it say no the answer is still no. You cannot unlock bootloader or install custom kernel. How ever you still can install custom rom which uses stock kernel.

thank you, could you point me in the right direction with that atleast? I tried looking for that also and still could not find any thing i read i still would have to go in to fast boot mode but when i get in to it all i get is a black screen.
You only get a black screen with fastboot, the commands are issued from the computer.
However you do not need fastboot to install custom roms with a stock kernel. Look in the development section for them
