[Q] I need help with laggy kindle - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

[Q] I have a real buggy system going on, I mean this kindle takes 5-10 seconds to go into into tapatalk and even longer to go into home, I reflashed and tried almost everything to speed up my kindle. If anyone has had this happen and found a fix can you please help me out. I tried almost everything from erasing everything to using persanos tweaks to no win.

Google Now on the Fire?

I know there is a method out there for getting Google Now to work with voice search for ICS devices as I have done it on my Motorola Triumph. It does require a "deodexed" rom so I am not sure if it would work. Has anyone tried or successfully got Google Now working?
No one is interested in getting Google Now on the Fire?
You didn't ask if anyone is interested you asked if anyone has tried but you also answered your own question.
Its running on my fire HD okay, but voice doesnt work. It is pretty quick though. However, there is no recovery for the fire, so be very carefull when messing with system files.

It is very buggy for me. No voice was the main reason that I uninstalled it.

Kindle hd device Id boo boo

A lot of the apps I purchased from google were on my htc evo 4g from sprint. So in trying to put them on my kindle fire hd 7 they weren't compatible. Well I downloaded an Id spoofer app and spoofed my Id to a Samsung gal tab and my hd sits on kindle fire logo that looks like its loading but its not. I assume its in a boot loop. Any suggestions to how I come back from this or professional insight to what I have done. This topic exists but not for the kindle hd so thought I would ask.
I know aside from rooting my kindle hd I shouldn't have went any farther as the bootloader has yet to be unlocked. I just want my kindle fire hd back to loading again

Where do I find local.prop I did a search with es file explorer and I can't turn that file up.
The only files I can find with .prop as the extension are build.prop and default.prop
EDIT: I rerooted using QEMU and its back to normal now.

Has someone been able to activate multitasking on a rooted kindle fire hd?

I have been searching for about three days and all I could find was people saying that a new one cant. Without having to use a custom rom is it able to add multitasking that amazon removed back on a rooted kindle fire HD?

It depends on what you mean by "multitasking". If you are talking about the ability to switch between apps without losing everything...it already does that. Any time you move away from an app, it goes into suspend mode and is stored in cache. In suspend mode, the app is no longer running code, therefore there is no processing being done on it until it is called back again. It's not really "multitasking" in the truest sense but that's how ICS does it.
On the other hand, if you're talking about the "history" button, that brings up a list with screenshots of your recent apps in their suspended state...the 2G KFs do not have that feature.

Stock launcher KFHD 7"

Sadly mine became corrupted, I use adw constantly, however whenever I need to show my device off to a customer I need to use stock launcher. Anyone have it able to extract the apk for me? For some odd reason mine only shows a blank greyish screen when I try to use it.
Thanks in advance...

Dang did not solve my issue, thanks so much for your effort... maybe it could be the xposed framework, that is only thing I installed since last time I had to get in there and show it off... oh well looks like I am going to go without stock launcher, would rather not lose the resizing capabilities it provides, works wonderfully for resizing only a few apps, and not overall appearance of device.

I just have to thank you again for posting that apk.

Changing kindle fire HD back to stock

Hi everyone.
Had a bit of a nightmare week
My kindle fire HD I had since Xmas died, constantly resetting.
I got a replacement, rooted it set everything up only.to.find out the speakers were buggered.
Got another replacement!!
Problem I have is a I need to return both kindle fire HDS back to stock before I return them.
I do not know who to do this, thongs I have noticed.....
1. I tried to remove root and first thing I noticed is that the advert screen isn't coming on.
2. On the replacement I have a launcher and the vendor.apk in the app folder and showing on the app page. It won't let.me.delete them for love nor.money.
I need to restore these back to stock before I send them back. So any help will be appreciated!!

Use Kindle Fire First Aide to return to stock with no root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888 You will need a fastboot cord or have KFFA boot you into fastboot.
