A lot of the apps I purchased from google were on my htc evo 4g from sprint. So in trying to put them on my kindle fire hd 7 they weren't compatible. Well I downloaded an Id spoofer app and spoofed my Id to a Samsung gal tab and my hd sits on kindle fire logo that looks like its loading but its not. I assume its in a boot loop. Any suggestions to how I come back from this or professional insight to what I have done. This topic exists but not for the kindle hd so thought I would ask.
I know aside from rooting my kindle hd I shouldn't have went any farther as the bootloader has yet to be unlocked. I just want my kindle fire hd back to loading again

Why are people trying to mod a device that still has a locked bootloader?

Where do I find local.prop I did a search with es file explorer and I can't turn that file up.
The only files I can find with .prop as the extension are build.prop and default.prop
EDIT: I rerooted using QEMU and its back to normal now.
i have a kindle fire hd and have been successfully sideloading android apps (apk) on it.
i have also been reading the forums about rooting the device and am tempted to go ahead and do it.. my question is: after rooting do all the existing apps/books on the device continue to work? this applies for apps/books i downloaded from amazon app store and also the ones i sideloaded/books copied from computer. also will i still be able to download apps from amazon app store?
appreciate your help - couldn't find any posts that actually talk about post-rooting condition of the kindle fire hd.
thanks
after rooting

Yes and yes.
There is virtually no side effects from rooting.
Some launchers have small issues like in most launchers three kindle app doesn't like to load but from the kindle launcher

This is starting to drive me nuts.. Starting today, I cant install any new Apps. I get the “Not enough Internal Storage” message..
I have done all the normal stuff.. Deleted all books, Doc’s, no music or videos on my KF and 90% of my freaking apps are on the Amazon Cloud and not my KF..
But under Device it says I have 60% Free Internal storage BUT the stupid Bar Graph says I have 0% free..
Its almost like there is some memory bug or something.. Why oh why Amazon cant fix their crap who knows.. But Amazon sure seems to spend a lot of time on updates to try and keep us from rooting our device.. pffffffff
Anyway my question is this..
Has anyone figured out a way to manually free up space and clean up old or not needed files on the KF???
My KF is I guess what you would call semi rooted.. Why I say this is a while back I had it fully rooted but then one of the updates took away root BUT I still have the GO Launcher working and can access the Android side and (Up until today) could even still access and get Apps from the Play store..
And I don’t think resetting to factory default is really a good option is it? In fact I was reading somewhere else where someone having the same issue as me, tried the Factory reset and it still did not fix the Internal memory Low problem..
I am really starting to hate the KF more and more
You are not rooted if you have no superuser. What version are you on now? 7.3.0?

Hi,
I've recently gotten CM 10.1 working (more or less) on my KFHD 7. I'd like to spoof the device ID in build.prop so that I can download certain apps from the Amazon App Store. Currently I experience the infamous "This App is not compatible" error since the tablet isn't stock,
Does anyone know the values I'll need to modify to make my tablet "appear" to be stock for the purposes of Amazon Apps? I searched this but haven't found the answer I'm looking for.
Thank you!
Until reading this I was unaware there was an appstore for non amazon kindle devices by amazon, just downloaded it from their website and installed angry birds star wars and haven't had a problem, what app is giving you problems? I can't really help if its a paid app, my account is linked to my moms credit card since I don't have one, and she rarely would let me use that, I only had to put it on record to use the appstore.

This is related to my other topic on this forum - it's for HBO Go Kindle Tablet Edition (free). The edition from the Play Store refuses to work on my modded KFHD, and the Amazon App Store won't let me download theirs unless I'm on the factory OS.
Ah, yea its not in my search results, and idk if this applies to you, but last time I transferred a app off my moms kindle that was free and put it on mine I couldn't even run it, kept saying I didn't own a license, and I was like its free why do I need a license... If u have your kindle os backed up u could backup Ur cm os and flash back temporarily and copy the HBO app from your /data/apps folder to your sdcard, flash back to Ur cm backup and try installing it manually. Lot of work for one app though. If you wanna edit the build, prop I think the name u change it to is KFTT

I've tried naming it KFTT in the build.prop but it doesn't help. I've tried tweaking a few other values as well, and the only thing that seems to happen is that Amazon Apps ITSELF starts to force close upon launch.
I don't understand build.prop enough to know: Does it just contain identifying info? Or does it affect the way the tablet operates? If it's just identifiers, I could theoretically copy the one from either the stock OS or Kinology right?
To your other suggestion: I've had mixed results sideloading from a "working" ROM. I admit I haven't really spent a ton of time on that option, but it's possible that it may be the solution.
Well I ended up building my system in parallel - I've got two active ROMs (stock and CM 10.1) and I'm switching between by using TWRP.
With this method, I downloaded the app from the Amazon App Store, backed up the APK from ES File Explorer, restored CM10.1, then installed the backed up app.
Still doesn't work - force close on HBO Go immediately upon launch. Frustrating!
While your in cm try installing catlog and looking at the error that occurs right at the time if crashing in the logs. Might be debugable.

Super interesting:
I downloaded catlog as you suggested, and found that HBO Go is crashing on a permission issue when attempting to access PREVENT_POWER_KEY. Upon further research, it looks like Hashcode discovered this almost a year ago -

It looks like that particular bug has not yet been ironed out. I wonder why??
Well thatg was on another kindle is if it was a year ago I believe, so maybe he didn't notice in his current build, you should ask him about it on his cm thread in android development, unless he sees this thread and happens to reply first.

[Q] I have a real buggy system going on, I mean this kindle takes 5-10 seconds to go into into tapatalk and even longer to go into home, I reflashed and tried almost everything to speed up my kindle. If anyone has had this happen and found a fix can you please help me out. I tried almost everything from erasing everything to using persanos tweaks to no win.
