Then you gota wait for the carriers to pull it apart and that normally takes another month or 2

It seams GDR3 is testing by some people and some pictures leaked about this update.
maybe it comes faster but not sure.

I just recall GDR2 RTM'ed about the beginning of this season and everyone is just it getting now. (With the exception of the several carriers who aren't offering them it all.)
I'd assume it would take the same amount of time.
EDIT: I just read that Verizon has a 6-8 week testing for updates, and it also mentioned that they are one of the most rigorous testing carriers out there.

Milestone 2 is out?

Is it in stock? i thought it was supossed to come out in october , but were a couple of days away from november and no news

Nov 17th...and pretty pricey but worth it.
Cool, my birthday.
Any word on the 850/1900 band version (AT&T)?
I suspect that Canada might get it around the same time or even possibly before the State (GSM), but I'll always be on the lookout for it locally.
finally a date thanks! this was looking suspucious since the droid 2 appears to be have been discontinued to make room for the droid global

Wow, just googled that bad boy.
And now I'm torn between that and the droid 2 as a second android phone.
The Droid 2 will, of course, be lower in price, but god, I find myself always wanting the latest.
I'm seeing November 11th as the release date here:
http://pinoytutorial.com/techtorial/droid-2-global-release-date-price-specs-update/
BUT
I guess, more importantly,
Will it have AT&T 3G capability?
Chasing the latest is a bad idea unless you have lots of spare change lying around.

[Q] So is the HD7 going to get an update

So the wife has a Radar and it gets an update to OS 7.10.8107.79 Supposedly solves the disappearing keyboard issue. Which lately has been driving me nuts. So the Radar is a gen 2 phone and the HD7 is 1st gen. My question is are the HD7's going to see this update or do you think 1st gen phones are going to get left in the dust?
T mobile is pretty mum about the htc hd7, i also own one and id been patiently waiting the update and its really disappointing to hear that 2nd gen WP devices are getting the update but cant confirm the 1st gen phones. still its t mobiles call whether to request the update. i hope in the future that updates for WP will NOT be dependent on the carrier...
My HD7 is on 7.10.8107.79 already - of course update via Zune, no custom roms.
I flashed XDA-DFT rom and it is now 8107, don't bother waiting the T-mob.

or you can simply force the update via the cab send method...I did it a nite ago and works like a charm...
Well your right. I got tired of waiting so I did force it. My question still stands tho...is this an indication that 1st gen phones are going to be hung out? I have seen some post that say no...some say yes. I just don't think it is a very good indicator when T mobile doesn't push a small update to the 1st gen phones.

Not sure where you got this notion from, but right now, AT&T and T-Mobile have been the primary carriers for WP7 because other carriers chose NOT to carry it.
At this point in time, ALL Major carriers (globally) have announced in one way or another that they WILL be carrying WP8 devices.
Thanks for your reply. I was a little buzzed when I wrote my post. What I mean by 'hostage' is that the carriers will take control over the updating process. It's been happening that ms releases new updates and ATT has to authorize them first before anyone else. On the iphone that doesn't happen as the carriers don't have anything to do with the updates released by apple.
Cheers.

On WP8 you will be able to override the carrier - not sure if the day it gets released or whether there will be few weeks delay.

4.3 for US pushed back

The US carrier variants will not be receiving the 4.3 update this month. While they haven't confirmed that it won't be receiving it this month, they said that ONLY THE DEVELOPER EDITION would be getting it this week.

I think they September fooled us they should of said that in the first place instead of getting people excited for 4.3 for this month. Guess we have to wait till the end of the year or probably next year lost hope for updates on this phone no 4.2 and probably not 4.3 either once 4.4 is released they would want to skip 4.3 a go for 4.4 who knows hahaa... this is just funny in my opinion
I kinda figured it out that we weren't getting it because of the Max being released with it and it's bad marketing strategy to give it to an older phone at the same time. I'm estimating three months at least, sad to say. :'(

One mans opinion here. Bottom line, HTC and Sprint dont like us here at XDA. We take what they release and make it better and it pi$$es them off because it nakes em look bad. They know if they promise an update release that developement will slow down due to our devs waiting on that release. I dont think it has anythung to do with marketing strategies or anything else. The just hold back to keep us in limbo. Appreciate it or disguard it, its just my opinion.

If you're going to announce an update, you best make damn sure you're releasing it on time. I can't believe I keep eating up this sh*t. Checking xda everyday... God, I wish I could use the next nexus on sprint...

Quick crying people. I'm sure it will be here soon. Not next year, not 3 months lol
Why is it one of the most popular flagship devices is so far behind others and dated phones for updates in the U. S.
You can try and blame it on sprint but as it stands it's all carriers in US so I say the blame goes to HTC for dragging feet. Kitkat will be out before we see 4.3, great way to go on a flagship device HTC
On a flagship one would think they wouldn't skip other updates like 4.2, which would have made the transition to 4.3 seem less timely.
I hate it when company's announce releases and can't make the date, why announce if you know chances are slim? HTC can suck it!!!!

I'll go ahead and say that since they fooled us with "by the end of September" and then clarified on which version of the phone they were releasing it on, we probably won't see it until end of November, possibly December.

Ya it's odd people are pissed when they spend 700 on of the most popular phones and it see an updates 6 months after release and the new Kitkat gets released before the flagship phone. Especially with phone technology when 6-12 months and the phone is almost outdated anyways lol.
It's not like they announced by September's end for all us carriers by end of September. Am sure some purchased the one based on that statement too.

There's a little flaw in your reasoning though. The number of Sprint One owners on here deving or just unlocking and customizing thier phones is very small when compared to the number of GSM One users. They are worldwide. If HTC were so mad about the dev community then they would stick them without the update.
The number of people on XDA relative the number of people using phones is very small. Maybe 1% of total HTC One owners worldwide come onto XDA.
The total number of Ones sold worldwide is more than 5 million (as of May 2013). According to the XDA forum there are 2.5 million registered users on XDA and the most ever on at one time is just 95,000. That is people for all phone models. I always think it seems like everyone is flashing thier phone and playing around like me, but the reality is very few do it. Almost to the point that the OEMs don't pay a whole lot of attention to the dev community.

Nature is spot on with his statement. Granted, I have patience, and I understand that I will have to wait longer, but coming on Twitter and saying they're working on getting certifications from carriers to release this update before the end of September, then tell us at the end of September that a non carrier branded One is getting the update is pretty much a slap in the face. And if they're waiting for certifications from ALL of the carriers before releasing it, that's just dumb as well. They should've been working on this a long time ago. We're on 4.1.2, and 4.4 is going to be released before we get it. This pretty much means that we will once again have a phone that DOES NOT have the latest version of Android.

Thank you for the input on that, very valid points you made there. I wasnt just speaking for the 0ne tho, i was refering to the community as a whole. I should probably been more distinct about that. Thanks

I think HTC has more pressing matters right now with the Nokia patent infringement lawsuit. They have struggled to gain market share, and this certainly won't help.

Irony. Basically calling someone a hypocrite for complaining about slow updates then assuming they would praise it once released, then turn around and complain about it yourself. You're awesome! :good::good:
unlocking
HTC may not give all everyone wants when they want it. I agree this sucks. I am as impatient as anyone. At least they don't make their phone turn off the camera if you unlock it like Sony does. Of all the major manufacturers isn't HTC the most liberal with their products? FYI ,some years ago I was told (in a phone conversation) by a VP of HTC that their engineers are on XDA every day. They know how we feel. Keep in mind that they sell phones not updates. They have to think with 5 million in sales the ONE will sell just like it is. Now they are making new models to sell. I saw the ONE on sale yesterday on Amazon for .01cent. Most people don't have an idea about software in their phones. Look at the idiots waiting in line all night for an I Phone when we know the ONE is a better phone. How many software updates does Apple put out in a year?

I'm not complaining. I'm stating an opinion on the misleading statement. I have patience and can wait, that's not a problem. If you notice, the people who are really complaining are those who are saying "Well, this will be my last HTC device" or "Samsung, here I come." But as soon as they get the update, it's a 180. I'm staying with HTC regardless.
Im upset because the misleading statements that were made and because a HTC rep that comes in to work straight lied to my face. The phone is a amazing phone as is the update is just an extra I bought this phone as is and will continue to praise HTC for the good work they did but making empty promises won't get them ahead.

In the end there is absolutely NO ONE that will be able to answer your question, not even the people at Sony. It just depends how fast the programming and optimization goes. Generally tho companies don't refer to months, but to periods when it comes to these things.
Considering a year has 4 quarters, you should expect it in the last 2 months of the first quarter. Aka March/April, or if we're lucky when/if Sony brings out a new device at the end of February.
There is way to much to speculate at this time.
it will be available in mid-February. Wait and see
