Stock kernel from what android version? What base? Just download a stock ROM and pull the boot.img.

3.10 or 3.17 base?
If 3.17, you can use flar2's bulletproof. It's pretty close to stock. Or like I said, pull the kernel from your ROM.zip

From the looks of it you're trying to install the wrong ROM. Looks like your trying to flash a crespo ROM and its assert script is killing the flash process.

LOL I've been there. I kinda figured with your list of devices that you'd just picked the wrong file and hadn't noticed!
I get stuck at the spot where I get the unlock token and it just says waiting fit device and hangs there.

Don't think you need to in ubuntu.

Well, i know this is commercial, but you can use my M7 Multi-Tool from Android Development Section, read the readme-linux in order to set up your drivers and all of those.
Hope this helps.
Will it work with the att version?

It should work on all HTC One devices, as the things you can do with the tool are pretty generic, some options will work even on other HTC phones.
So, try it out and report your experience.
I will when I can.
