Delete home screens/sleeping assist/screen protectors - Moto X Q&A

I only really use 1 home screen is there a way to delete the other screens?
Also i'm extremely paranoid about my alarm going off so i set my sleeping mode from 12am to 5:59am and leave my alarm set at 6am just in case
But lets say if i set my sleeping assist from 12am to 6:30am and have my alarm set to 6am would my alarm still ring? I haven't tried it and its not a big deal i was just really wondering.
Also is anyone going "screen nude"? i'm debating whether or not i should get a screen protector or case for this thing. It feels insanely solid.
Right now the plastic is still on the screen just to be extra safe.... my galaxy s3 scratch REALLY fast and i don't want to take a chance with this thing.

If you press the home button it'll shrink all of your pages. At that point you can kill all of your pages but one.

Are you running the stock launcher? Because it doesn't behave that way on mine. You're stuck with 5 home screens on the stock launcher, but you can use an alternate launcher which allows for fewer homescreens.
As far as no case, I've dropped mine on concrete a few times already and not had any major scratches or issues. Personally I've found screen protectors to be more annoying than helpful.

Awe crap. I'm sorry. I'm running nova
As far as protection goes, I'll take what I can get. I dropped my phone twice, and cracked the screen in 3 places.
Nothing extreme about the falls either.
Must have hit just right both times!

Even more unresponsive Return button with Wrapsol screen protector

Hey guys,
I just installed the screen protector that came with the wrapsol skin (wet application) and I was just wondering if any of y'all ever experienced an even more unresponsive return button. I know that that button is already finnicky when pressed but now it seems like it won't respond at all half the time. Havr y'all experienced this? Do you guys think it'll go away as the liquid under the protector evaporates? Thanks.

Thanks. I got it exchanged today but now my NS has a yellow tint . My old one had a perfect screen.

Exchange again. A trick I learned is to not do an out-right exchange. Instead, buy a new one, compare it to the old one, and return the one you don't like. Not only does this extend you 14-day return period (assuming you keep the new one) but it also allows you to determine which one is "better".

I'm really starting to hate the power switch

I'm forever fumbling around to find it.
I fumble and fumble, then think I must have the phone upside down and fumble some more only to realize I've now turned it up side down.
I thought I'd get used to it.
Not to mention I seem to be getting bits of pocket crap in between the button and the phone.
On my HTC EVO LTE the phone used to come on if I stooped down (I keep it in my fron jeans pocket) and I made little guards for the button to stop it.
Now think I'll have to glue on a bump on to the button or something.
It would be nice if they put a dimple or raised it slightly. So you could positively find it by feel every time.

I have same problem as OP. I have an Incipio case that has a cut out for the power/IR blaster. It also has a cut out on the bottom for the micro usb charger, which is almost the same exact size. I too have flipped the phone over several times. I may have to get the Mophie just for the simple fact that it has a raised power button.

Not sure if I understand right but you could do what I do and stop using the power button. What I do is rooted with bulletproof kernel I use the double tap the bottom of the screen to turn it on and then I can either swipe the back+home button to turn the phone off or use a widget called screen off on my desktop (usually do this since its more convenient). This works perfectly and is much easier than the akward power button

I have the flip cover, and I use Tasker to lock and unlock the phone when I open/close it. It uses the proximity sensor, and is almost instantaneous in response. Even works with the cover off, by either sticking it in my pocket or placing the phone face down on a surface.
I saw something like that where you can wave your hand over your phone air gesture style to unlock it out answer a call. Crazy the things you can do with Tasker.

Why dont you just install a custom kernel and then use the sweep/wake option? Thats what I do on my device and I dont even touch the power button. Just a thought and hope it helps.

A good design everyone WILL naturally get used to. A poor design won't.
If my car pulls to the left and I can't get used to it, does that make it my fault !!! That's what your saying.
Looks like I'm not the only one having issue with it, so it is a the "Phones Fault".
Like I said a tiny dimple on the power button or similar so you can find it with frozen fingers in the dark. Would go a long way.
Small cues that help you have the phone oriented correctly would go a long way.
Weight, Texture, Dimples make the difference.
Maybe this app would help out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2227516

IF your car was designed to pull to the left it wouldnt be the cars fault.
The recessed power button is a design, no fault of the phone itself.
I, and I'm sure countless others here have no issues with the power button.

I, for one, love the power button. Never once thought the button was hard to find or hard to press. I also love the tactile feel of this power button after having used a GNex, which I hated the power button placement - too easy to press accidentally.

magnet cover question

Hi all, quick question. If I root my nook hd, will my magnet case stop working? And by that I mean how it turns on when I open and off when I shut the case. Thanks!
It will still work fine with just a root. If you install a CM Rom then it will still work with a little hitch: sometimes opening the cover won't turn the screen on, so close it and open it again and it will then come on. It's a bug in every CM and CM based Rom. Not a big deal, really.

It is extremely annoying though and the fact that no one in a year cared to do anything about it is a bit frustrating. Sorry, open cover twice is not a "workaround".

Really, double lifting the cover isn't some monstrous task that takes an aeon to do or burn 3,000 calories. Just lift drop lift. . It's literally 1.2 seconds.

You simply don't get it. It's usability and quality issue, not a question of energy.

It's not a usability issue though, is annoying at most sometimes but it never amounts to a feeling that I can never enjoy my tablet or feel as if a case with a cover is the worst creation for this device. You make it seem like this tiny, miniscule, insignificant bug is the crippling kegstone factor in using a magnetic case OR a CM Rom and you can't have both.

I have lost over 20 lbs just from lifting my Nook HD cover 2 times every time I want to use it. My just think if I lifted 4 times each time.
Just kidding, it would be nice if it was that easy.
I just bought a magnetic cover & using CM 10.2 and I don't seem to have that minor issue about having to open & close the cover.
Ok if I may ask a very simple & probably stupid question, how does the magnet make the tablet go into sleep mode or whatever it does?
Thank you,
Mark :silly:
I can't say I've had the problem of the device not waking up when I open the cover (Poetic slimline). If this would happen I just put my thumb on "n" or a finger on the power button, as I would if I didn't have a magnetic cover or when it shuts down with the cover opened.
If that's an annoyance, just go back to stock and problem is solved!

It may be worth checking if your magnet is actually present and "strong enough."
For my Nook HD+, I have a third party cover which has a working magnet.
I recently bought an official B&N cover for the HD+ and it doesn't work at all (stock ROM).
Check ebay, i found genuine b&n magnetic case for 7 bucks there. New and in box, free shipping. There were several sellers had them and many cheap. Got mine auction on third try only bidder... There were so many listed it was quite easy to snag one.
And i am on cm 10.2 and it works just fine.

is it possible the video card or whatever may be "burned" ut or somthn.. nto sure what else to do.. any ideas? and would i call att or who to try and fix/swap out if u think its video?

Yes.. i thought it might be the game too, but sometimes ill just be swiping through the homescreens, app drawer, and othe rthings. it just doesn't respond.
right now i am testing something. I had/have the S-view flip case on it.. so i took that off and put the stock backing back on it. ive been playing it for a bit and so far nothing.. but.. the phone is also cold as F right now so not sure if its just that the phone hasn't heated up to possibly trip it or if thew s-view case really could be the culprit...
does this sound possible? i am most likely stopping by BB today since still within my 45days and going to possibly try and swap it out, and i think i might stay away from the s-view case.. never really used that screen anyway and the bumper protection is non existent.. haven't dropped the phone and there is already a slight nick on the side just from being in pocket.
I use an Otterbox case myself so i am not sure how an s-view fits. I have found in the past with some case if they have a lip that extends over the edge of the display it can sometimes cause false touches if it is touching the digitizer area on the display. If it touches in more than one spot this could confuse the display in that it does not know if you are tapping, swiping, or pinching.

Definitely root first with RDLV. Once you take the OTA you run the risk of the bootloader being patched and can potentially screw yourself out of a chance of getting a real recovery in the future.

Ive noticed that some games just genuinely do NOT like the 1920x1080 resolution and the buttons have very small sections that actually work. A few games require me to use the s-pen to actually tap the buttons to go through menus. thought my digitizer was having issues until i found out almost everything else works perfectly in those same spots.

Buttons on the back are a fail...

I don't like the design or placement of the power and volume buttons. I have to fumble to find the right button for the volume. It is not intuitive at all and you have to flip the phone over to look at what you are doing. The power button gets pressed all the time when it is in my pocket. I have had it reboot from the power button being held down in my back pocket more than once. No telling how many times it rebooted consecutively. I hear it powering up and take it out and sure enough it is restarting. It turns the screen on when it is in my shirt pocket. Just a good bounce is enough to activate it. Don't think I would buy another phone with this set up.
Ain't happy about lg locking it down so tight either.
There, I brought the whine, someone else can serve the cheese.
Not to me.

I can say the same thing about the button being on the side. The last LG that I had was always tuning on or off or taking a screen shot of darkness because the button got pressed. I have large hand and I loved hitting the power button or the volume up or down with my fingers while I was in a call. But this is the great thing about this forum you can come and have a rant if you want to.
not everyone is a fan of the LG back button setup
this is the first phone I've had with that, and I am still not used to it after 4 months
I find myself turning the phone around alot as well to see exactly what I am pushing...
I take alot of "unwanted" screenshots by accident, but when I want to actually take one, its sometimes a PITA
The G3 has a nicer back button array, so maybe it will be on the Flex 2 as well
I didn't like it at first especially screenshots but its grown on me. And I notice myself reaching to the back with my index finger on other phones. And also the knock on feature is great. The best thing about the placement of the vol buttons is at work I can turn the vol up or down easier when its in my pocket then when I had a phone with them on the side.

I dig on the buttons and I like the unique characteristic it gives the device. My only complaint is that I smudge up the camera lens every time I miss the volume up button.
I thought one of the reasons the buttons are on the back is becsue of the thin bezels. I've never really had any issue with them. It's kind of funny how some people hate the buttons on the back but never even tried a LG. Haters going to hate. LoL

I like the buttons on the back. When I play with my old Samsung Note #1 or my wife's S5, I feel the buttons on the side are awkward now, which is kinda weird imho. Also, another weird thing.... After staring at my concave flex screen for hours each day, when I look at a "flat" phone, it looks like the screen is convex. Anyone else experience this phenomenon?
Habits do develop when you use it alot. I frequently tap on my tab's screen trying to wake it up.

Same here, after 4 months I still turn the whole phone around to see the button I'm pushing. Please change it on the LG G flex 2
I like the buttons on the back of the phone, never even have to think about what im pushing!
HIT EM WIT DAT FLEX
I personally think it's genius and innovative from the norm of any other carrier. Thinking outside the box is sometimes a fail, but for me and many more love this aspect. I haven't had any issues with the buttons on the back besides the 1st few days. Once I got used to them, couldn't imagine them not being there.
Different strokes for different folks.
Also have the concave vision of any other flat phone or tablet. Looks opposite curved of my phone. It's crazy! No matter the size. I freaked the 1st time I picked up my wife's G2, lol! I am like you see it? She just started at me like I have lost my mind.
Also never had it reboot on me once or turned on the screen. Least I don't know of any way.
Love this phone and honestly keeping it till the flex 2. Dig the operating system as well. SMS pop up window is amazing!

LG keeps improving on the back keys. Flex back keys are better then the G2. Thinking the G3 back keys will be better then the Flex. I like different things which is why I like the butons and the Flex. I have a Jump to use and kind of want the G3 but thinking I might miss my Flex. Kind of pissed @ T-Mobile though since they screwd me on my discount when they said last month I would be grandfathered in.

I don't know why some of you guys have to turn your phone around just to see what your pushing. I don't have a problem at as to you can just tell what your pushing on when feeling on the buttons i mean the power button sticks out more then the volume so you should already know that's the power button and from there you can already figure out if you slide your finger up or down you can tell that your on the volume button as to it has some kind of a small dot on both i find it much easier and better that the buttons are on the back.

Sms pop up window is amazing!

for me, I think its more a product of muscle memory, than anything else..
I've been using side buttons on cell phones for at least the last 15-20 years, and this is my first phone that had the buttons on the back..
Old habits die hard..

You and everyone else, right? No other phone has done this, so in essence it's new for all of us, lol!

lg G1, and the G2 both had this back button setup before the Flex
Meant as a company. G2 I have as my wife and stepdaughter have one. Never used the g1.

I'm all for it!
I think yellowman said it well. I got a case as well for the kickstand. Then I realized the hole for the back buttons made even easier to locate the buttons. So now I quickly find the down volume then go from there. Because of my work, I needed to find a different way to carry a phone. I had an S4 previously. I made a pouch to wear under my shirt kind of like a holster. With the S4 I always had trouble finding buttons. With the G Flex now, its easier than ever. Using same pouch, but I cut a hole for the buttons. Easy to feel them through the shirt. I just wish I could put CyanogenMod on this thing...
