My Chromecast keep disappearing! - Google Chromecast

Ok, so I have my Chromecast, on the latest firmware build, and I was watching TV Shows on Netflix before going to bed.
So I woke up this morning, tried to stick some music on my TV via the Chromecast, and it was not visible to my phone or tablet.
When I put on my TV, it was showing that it was connected to my WiFi network, however, it still wouldn't show up on my Phone or Tablet.
I had to reboot a couple of times before it would show up again on my phone?
Is this happening to anyone else?

It happened to me twice.

Any idea why it keeps happening?

I have found when I leave it constantly powered on it does this to me all the time. Once I switched it to my TV's USB port so that it only comes on and off with the TV it connects every time. And since my other TV does not have a USB port I picked up a cheap wireless lamp on/off controller and I plug the CC in to that which allows me to turn it off wirelessly when I am done using it. I have a feeling that the CC is getting too hot when constantly plugged in causing it to malfunction.

Bluetooth cuts wifi on 4.2.1

Hello.
When I use my Bluetooth headphones my wifi cuts out after about 10 minutes, it only affects the nexus because my xbox can still connect as can my 2 computers and laptop.
I know for a fact it's not my internet as my noise margin is currently at 19.5db download and 25.5db for upload.
help please??
Android 4.2 has a lot of Bluetooth issues. I don't know how to fix it, try to Google it?

Go to apps in settings and go to all apps and find bluetooth share and clear data, it fixed the issue for me

Its slower then dial up when i use the head phones...
dunno why i have a fast internet (24meg down)
I use Bluetooth and wifi at the same time all the time. I have a moga controller that's paired and surf no problem.

Asus, the maker of our N7, had to cut corners to come under $200 mark, so they specc'd a cheap WiFi/Bluetooth chip in the N7. Furthermore, they cut corners on QC, thus the atricious build quality and service issues.

I tried that earlier today, but it had zero impact for me.

I take this back. It doesn't happen all the time and a reset usually fixes it. Sometimes when I pair my Moga, my play store won't load. I can still surf but some apps wont connect. Rebooting fixes it until I attempt to pair again. Its not every time but about 1 out of 5 times.
I thought it was just the Moga Pivot app at first and I just use the universal driver now... but it still cuts wifi occasionally.
Probably just a quirk with 4.2.1

Yes another dumb question.

Got chrome cast and I'm loving it. When I'm not using it the white light just stays on. Is there a way to turn it off other than unplugging it? Does this thing shut off after a certain amount of time of not being in use like a sleep mode of some sort. Are you guys just leaving it plugged in the entire time?

Yes I just leave it plugged in. It won't turn off if you leave it plugged in. You always want it on otherwise you wouldn't be able to communicate with it at any time and have it turn on your TV. I don't see any harm in just leaving it on all the time.

I don't have the ability to turn on the TV since my TV is about 6 years old. I am just afraid of it burning out or breaking if I leave it on 24/7. Just wasn't sure what everyone else was doing. Wish it went to some sort of low power sleep mode or something once it noticed that it wasn't using that tv's input.

I've just been leaving it plugged in myself and from what I can tell it only gets hot while actually streaming stuff so as long as it's on the Ready To Cast screen you should be fine...
I guess I'll take everyone's word for it since I've only used it for the last 4 hours. What an awesome affordable product.

leaving it in and on at all times is fine. It doesnt actually work until you send it commands so you wont be overworking it by just letting it stay on. As for the turning on the tv, its a matter of giving the thing power. Your tv may not give it power through the usb port *assuming its where you power it from*. If you power it through a outlet it should turn on when you send a command and the tv is off.

I am getting the power from an outlet since my TV doesn't have a usb port. I'll try it tonight. Should I look out for a specific setting that needs to be enabled for this feature?

Setting up chromecast

So what kind of a adaptor, etc do I need to get chromecast to work on my "32 Lg hd t.v. with my Gs4.thanks in advance!!!

Nothing. Everything comes in the box. As long as your TV has a HDMI port, you will be fine. USB port is needed for power, but you can use regular adapter for that.

Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 won't charge

I've had the tablet for about six months, it's completely stock, and never had any problems.
I plugged it in earlier and the battery symbol comes up to show it's charging but then it disappears and goes blank then a few seconds later it does the same thing? It won't turn on, I've tried holding volume down+power but still nothing? I've tried a different charger, I'll try a different lead tomorrow.
Anyone have any other ideas? I need to get it working as soon as possible as we use it as a baby monitor.

Now solved.
It was a dodgy lead.

I have not shut it off since the day I got it....That was sometime before Christmas.
I do notice it reboots itself once a day around 2am though.
My chromecast is powered by the USB port of my TV. So everytime I turn off my TV, the chromecast shuts down and boots when I start my TV.

Somewhere close to 3 months now, except for short reboots.
I'm one of those guys that believes there's more stress powering something up from cold than to keep it running. Of course I also have a nontrivial electricity bill. :\

Same here.
Gotta stay up late tonight to check if that's true.
Yep, had mine for about three months as well and I have never shut it off apart from a few reboots.
I use the usb adapter for power, so it turns off whenever the TV is off.

Do you think there's any of this "stress" being added as the chromecast is running and maintaining a connection to your router and talking to the internet for all the hours you're not using it?
Mine is powered by the TV too and shuts off when it's off. This is useful when I'm switching Netflix regions on NetProtect, as rebooting the stick is as easy as power cycling the TV.

Nah. Chromecast 'chatters' far less than your phone/tablet does, as it doesn't have much in the way of notifications, etc.
I would assume it just polls for firmware upgrades periodically, and maybe downloads new display images.

The Devs stated that it checks for firmware updates every twenty hours unless your set to "not' check but whitelist updates I "assume" happen as changes are made but not all users at the same time.

It could even be the expiration of the DHCP releasing and renewing for all I know...My Guess is it doesn't just renew it reboots to do it.
Just noticed it because of the CEC protocol my Switcher supports, I have noticed it switching after rebooting while I was watching TV which is on the same Switcher....
The reboots definitely happen.. My HDMI switch automatically switches to any device that turns on or powercycles. If I happen to be watching another source at the time, at 2AM my HDMI switch will jump over to the Chromecast just in time to see the Chromecast booting up.
If it is actively being used it does not do this.
Good confirmations. That explains why my LED was blinking (as it does shortly before reconnecting) early one morning...
I don't see any switcher happen on reboot, but my TV doesn't auto-switch when a new input is detected, though it does obey CEC and switch when casting.
I have to unplug when not in use, and even when it's in use, tv screen flashes trying to change HDMI inputs.

That shouldn't happen unless your TV has HDMI-CEC problems or your HDMI port/cable connection is bad.
Try switching HDMI ports.
If that doesn't help, try turning off HDMI CEC control (aka Bravia Sync, LG Simplink, Samsung Anynet+, Panasonic Viera Link) and see if the problem continues to occur.

It's a Bravia and Sync is on to talk to the DVD. I'll turn it off to see if that helps.

I'm pretty sure on my Bravia you can turn control on/off per connected device, so you should be able to keep control on your DVD player while turning off control for Chromecast.
Wife will like that ;+)
