[Q] Root, S-Off HTC One 1.31.651.2 - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Hi guys,
I'm getting a new HTC One, as my current device is having screen issues. My replacement will be in later this week, and it will almost certainly have the new update (1.31.651.2) installed. My old device was able to be S-Off'd using Moonshine, as it is running a supported version (1.29.651.10.) That's the newest version Moonshine supports, so my question is how will I S-Off my new phone? Will Revone work?
Thanks in advance!
Nick M.

I am so sorry! I found that thread, but it just said 1.31. So I wasn't sure if it was what I was looking for. There were more than one 1.29 updates, so I figured the same for 1.31. I'm very deeply sorry!

Actually, I've been trying to S-Off my new HTC One with the new 1.31 update for 5 hours now to no avail using Revone. HBOOT 1.44. I keep getting the -6 error. No clue what to do. Help anyone? Who ever can help me will get a $20 PayPal donation.

My tendency is to go ahead and get s-off, but I still struggle with what it will gain you on this particular device. Unlocking the bootloader seems sufficient.

One very important thing with s-off is if you get soft bricked on 1.31 you will need s-off to be able to use the 1.29 RUU since as of now there is no 1.31 RUU. That's just one example.

I'm not even sure if I need S-Off at this point, I'm having an entirely different problem, but this method is perfect for downgrading.
I have an HTC One, 1.31 stock, rooted, android 4.1, no changes have been made whatsoever
As most of you may know, android 4.3 OTA was just released, being rooted it seems OTAs will refuse to install
I understand the main fix to the problem is using the stock recovery, which I've obtained and flashed with no avail using multiple stock recoveries.
Including the recovery in the framework folder of the 4.3 update itself.
I've tried plenty of other methods such as "OTA Root Keeper", again, with no avail..
Looking at the options I have left, it looks like downgrading to a 1.29 RUU using this DD method to remove root and (hopefully) be able to install 4.3 via stock recovery, however I'm not interested resetting my phone.
Again.
I'm curious if someone here has another suggestion to install the OTA Android 4.3 update that won't require me to lose everything!
I'd definitely be willing to throw some $$$, "PayPal donations" as someone else offered, for a fix.
Thanks!

As far as I know, that won't work because I'm Sprint (CDMA) 4.3 was just released and I'm not seeing any 4.3 custom or stock roms as of now.

As far as I can figure, the stock rooted 4.3 Sprint ROM here won't include the firmware (radio, etc). Not sure if updating the ROM without the firmware will cause problems (I've read some people's touch screens are going out).

did you expect them to say anything less? basically what they are saying is "we believe our consumers are too stupid to modify or otherwise personalize their devices, so as a result we have prevented you from access all software on your phone for your own good"
It reminds me of Liar Liar, "That's just something ugly people say to feel better about themselves."

I'm debating about unlocking my phone and instal a Rom right now or wait and see. I usually root all phones but I was one of those dumbasses that flashed my EVO 3D with the virgin mobile version. Lucky me I didn't have most of the side effects people were complaining about. I just had the VM banners and some times text messages errors, but CM 10.1 make it go away.
Anyone have any cons about unlocking my phone and flash a rom right now or wait until we get S-Off if (ever happens).

you just need to unlock and install either twrp or cwm recovery.
From what I've read this really isn't a big deal. Nexus devices are not S-Off either. All this prevents you from flashing are the radio and bootloader which are not usually modified.

True, although for asop, aokp. and other open source roms a different bootloader maybe required. For the evo 3d the ics bootloader that installed with the firmware from the ota would give bootloops if a asop or aokp rom was flashed.if as a user you would never flash anything other than custom roms for your current version of android then yes an unlocked bootloader is all you need. Another example was the htc flyer. That device shipped with gingerbread when htc released the ota for honeycomb every user was in a hurry to install it, many had flashers remorse and wished to go back to gingerbread. With s-on they were out of luck.
This phone has features we may never see in aosp. I'm holding off on that. Nothing wrong with sense5 though honestly, its way better than any previous versions so far

Incorrect. You need to flash a superuser app and its binaries as well.
this zip is supposed to turn off read/write protection Sprint_One_Root_Disable_System_RW_Protection (1).zip
I was thinking we are a rare bunch of folks that are control freaks that root our phones.
But it amazes me to see things like Titanium Backup, Root Explorer, ROM Manager apps very near the highest volume Android Apps in the Market !!!
These are obviously "Root" user apps.
Maybe it's because we wipe our phones so often we distort the statistics
I love how they say they don't allow s-off because of "warranty" reasons yet at the bottom of the page it says unlocking your device will render the warranty void. #likewhat

This is somewhat false. The reason it was causing boot loops was because of the boot.img not flashing properly. It was required when the hboot got updated that we used a process such as "HTC dumblock" to flash the boot.img. Currently for our Ones we are fine because the hboot will allow proper flashing of the boot.img yet in the past, some future updates have blocked this feature. I for one will always want s-off. It gives me full control

The revone method doesn't require root, also let's you unlock bootloader without HTCDev
Found it a lot simper as well, took a few attempts to get going tho
My biggest problem was I forgot to put sudo (only needed for linux) and I forgot to put the file extension.

How do I flash completely back to stock?

Is there any way you could help me understand why Moonshine isn't working for me? I'm on 1.08, unlocked bootloader, rooted, and I have CWM (not sure if the custom recovery matters). I plug it in with the OEM Cable and USB Debugging on as instructed. However, when I run Moonshine, it goes as far as Test 3 and then it starts running through several rows of dots.
Edit: Scratch that. I figured out that all I needed to do was turn off my Firewall. So, now that I have S-Off, how do I go about flashing it back to the Stock ROM/Recovery?

Since you have s-off I don't know why you want a stock ROM/recovery. Either the v1.08 or v1.04 zips will install with CWM (not TRWP last I tried). http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Myst

Hi Im having the same issue, my phone has an unlocked bootloader. I tried to install 2 different kind of 4.4 GPe roms and both times its restarting at the setup screen, where it ask for the language to use. Is S-Off different from unlocked bootloader and did the s-off with rumrunner fixed the issue? Thanks
I have s-off and have been but I couldn't install any of the 4.4 Roms and it caused crazy bootloop where recovery wasn't even an option thru fastboot or anything. Had to ruu out. Miserable day yesterday with a g2x lol. Think I might try to run the ruu for GE 4.4 tonight if I find an easy how to so I can play with 4.4 too.
I'm thinking it has to do with the software date too since I was s-off and got a fail also. I was on the original 1.xx T-Mobile software.

First, if you can sideload a ROM, do that and enable USB debugging on it before you run the tool.
Then, all you have to do is click the download link, download the 0.5.0 zip, extract it, then run the .exc file with admin permissions on your windows 7 computer. Be patient, it WILL take a while.

[Q] No Profile Update/PRL Update error 1233

Has anyone else been receiving an error when updating their profile with the new OTA update? Additionally is anyone receiving error 1233 when trying to update their PRL? If so has anyone found a solution? I found a few people complaining about the issue on various threads here and around the internet but with no solution. This seems to be causing issue with both rooted and non rooted phones.
In my case I am S-OFF rooted. Took the update with stock recovery.
I figured it might be worth while to have this in one thread.
In my case these two functions are useful as I am in a poor coverage area and am now constantly receiving the "no data connection" error. That said these issues still persist in well covered areas.
I'm getting the same thing after taking the update..... Thought it was only me.... Was reading online n people who were having this issue said it usually corrects itself

I'm having the issue, too. I'm unlocked, stock rooted. I flashed stock recovery, accepted the 3.05 OTA, flashed TWRP, flashed SuperSU, and everything is working except my ability to update profile/PRL.

Thanks for the link. The RUU method will wipe the phone, right? I hope that's not a dumb question, haha. I've never updated with the RUU method before.

Same Problem
Ever since the new update, 3.05.651.5, I get error code 1233 when trying to update PRL and also can't update my Profile. I called HTC they said it was a Sprint error code so I called Sprint and they re-provisioned my phone. This was unsuccessful and told me to wait a day or so. There are quite a few people having the same issue and the latest word on the Sprint Forums is that HTC is aware of the problem and working on it. My HTC ONE is "stock". Not rooted.

I was having the same issue after the update (Stock as well). Did a Factory reset (always a good idea when updating) and it's all good. Give it a shot!
OK

Thanks, I will try that later when I have more time as my last resort.

Yes it will wipe the phone.
Running the RUU seems to fix this issue for everyone thus far. It must be some issue with residual files left behind from the older version when taking the OTA.

Do you think downloading a copy of the update, would let you install it again and if so, wouldn't that fix the profile and prl problem?

If by download another copy you mean the updates provided in other threads you could try it but it did not work for me. The RUU was the only solution.
