Keep battery stats through a reboot - Moto X Q&A

I was wondering if there was an app that would keep your battery stats through a reboot. that way if I install a mod and reboot I don't loose that my phones been off charge for x amount of time and these apps have used x amount of battery.

I'm going to guess this doesn't exist. I was hoping better battery stats would or some battery app but after 100 views still no answer. O well maybe someone who knows how to will make one someday lol.

MotoX vs Galaxy S3 battery life

Hey guys, I currently own a GS3 and I am interested in upgrading to a newer phone. I am certain the MotoX is an upgrade in nearly all phases, however the one thing I am concerned about is battery life.
Can anyone who has had both the MotoX and the GS3 comment on battery life? I can currently run from about 7am to 11pm (16hrs) on one battery with moderate use.
Since the Nexus5 is a no-go on VZW I need to find something new and the S4 isn't exactly impressing me. I haven't upgraded since the Galaxy Nexus and I only have a S3 because of warranty replacement.
Moto X has great battery life.

I run my phone from 6:30 am until 11 or 12. I really have to try hard to get this battery down past 25% left. Normal user, text, phone calls, browsing, a little gaming. I get an average of over 5 hours of screen time on.

On my sgs3 I could barely crack 3 hours screen time with 12 hours off charge. I never made it through a full day with the sgs3, unless I didn't use it. I get twice the longevity with the moto x... I routinely get 4 hours screen time with 20 hours off charge.. Yesterday I got 22 hours off charge with 5 hours 45 minutes screen time... Stock 4.4 no root
AT&T Moto X rocking 4.4
Awesome, thanks for the replys guys! The one spec comparison I saw gave the GS3 a HUGE advantage in battery life, however it is great to hear that is wrong.
Any other pros/cons of the MotoX vs GS3 I should be aware of?
switched from an S3 to the Moto X.
couldn't get thru the day with the s3, moto x gets me with 50ish by the time i get home.
Yep, same boat. Battery is constantly awesome. Gone are the days where I charge my phone while awake. A nightly charge gets it done... And if I forget to charge at night, came generally make it thru half the next day without worrying about it.
I use my phone to read, too, and 5 hrs of screen on time is pretty normal. (Moto x)

[Q] Does Zerolemon make an extended battery for Moto X?

Hi there,
I am looking to extend the battery life on my Moto X and have come across the Zerolemon battery cases. They don't mention the Moto X on their website but I thought people on XDA might know if they are releasing one soon?
Thanks
Anyone know? :crying: My battery life is not good at all right now!
Read the entire "how's your battery life" thread. Every sort of battery help can be found there....just gotta read up. No one should have bad battery life on the Moto x...just need to fix issues sometimes.

[Q] Battery lasts for 1+ hour at 1%

Hi All,
My battery is lasting for over an hour at 1%. This makes me think that the battery isn't calibrated properly, but the methods I've seen posted for recalibrating my battery haven't worked. Here is what I've tried:
Use phone until it shuts down automatically from low battery
With phone still turned off, charge it until it reaches 100% (about 4 hours)
Turn phone on and use it normally
I've tried doing this method twice in a row, but I'm still having the same issue. I don't remember having this issue when I first bought the phone, although I also made the mistake of not fully charging the phone before I started using it.
Any suggestions for fixing this issue? I don't want to root my phone as I don't have a stable computer (random BSOD) and I'm afraid of bricking it. Thanks!
Lasting an hour on standby.... Or using the phone?
I drain at around 1 percent an hour on standby, and some have even less drain than that.... So if that's mostly stand by you're talking.... It's probably not an issue.
If that's an hour at 1 percent mostly using the phone, then yeah... That ain't right. Lol

Any ideas on a fix? I've had the phone for over a month now so I don't think its possible to return it to Verizon at this point.

only thing I could think of, are you rooted? if so, have you made any mods? If not, RSD it back to stock..
If you're getting good battery life I wouldn't worry much about it.

My phone has decent battery life, I typically see 2-3hrs SOT. Not sure how people get 5+ hrs.
The main problem is that when my phone gets low battery I never know when its going to die, since it stays at 1% for so long. A little stressful when I'm doing navigation in a new area, so I'd really like to fix it

Here's a pic of my battery stats that were particularly bad. I think in this one exchange services was eating the battery, but android OS is usually the primary battery consumer.

Sorry to say, but that's horrible battery life. I'd suggest you read through the battery life thread. Tonnes of stuff there to read and probably help.

Here it is. I'd read it all when you have the time.

KJ,
Those pics are unusual usage I would say, but they do illustrate the 1% issue. I'm coming straight from the VZW galaxy nexus so anything over 2hrs SOT seemed awesome to me haha.
Thanks for the tips, I'll check out the thread soon.

If u don't no what red is I wouldn't worry about it... I would try a factory reset on ur phone..

sometimes it takes your phone one or two cycles to cache up the battery stats. but I would agree that the battery stats file is probably corrupted. i think you might be able to enter the stock recovery mode (without root) and wipe the battery stats. but I'm new to this phone - just talking from prior experiences.
So Sad:crying:

I looked through the recovery mode and didn't see an option for clearing battery stats.

Still reading through the battery thread before I make a decision, but it sounds like doing a factory reset might be a good option. Looks like a lot of people are also experiencing high android OS usage.
I'm having the same issue and similar battery stats. I've been on 1% for well over and hour now and never get over 2 hours screen on time.
I've tried several things over the last few days and nothing seems to improve. Curious where you're personally going to go from here. Please keep me updated...

I have. And since I'm having the exact same issue as the OP I would like to see if he finds something that works for him.
edit to add:
I just noticed that Google Keep has had my phone awake for 44m 3s.
That sounds ridiculously abnormal for a note taking app...
Hey Guys,
ever since the 5.1 Update to my Moto X I have been having the same strange bug reported here: Early in the evening it will tell me my battery is about to die (1%) but the phone will still run for hours (not one.... the whole night actually) - see screenshot. This occured together with the famours bug where Android updates its apps if the phone booted while charging. I have of course done a whipe - two times actually. Any idea?

Moto X 2013 Battery Problems

I am using a Moto X 2013 Dev Edition on T-Mobile, this particular unit I got from Moto Care after my initial one broke. It feels like it gets much worse battery life than the first. I did not unlock or root this one yet. I'm on the latest update with pretty good LTE/4G coverage and the phone completely discharges from full to 5% in less than 4.5 hours while only browsing! It then recharges from 5% to 87% in less than 1.5 hours, this seems unusually fast and led me to believe that the battery is faulty. What do you think?
Check what is using battery the most. You can check it in battery settings. Moreover I would encourage you to install one of the apps like Better Battery Stats (you need root) or Gsam Battery Monitor to see which app prevents your phone from going to sleep.

Um... Your screen was on that whole time mostly.
That's your issue. ?
Yes I know it was, I was browsing for 4.5 hours XD
But I feel that's a short time for the phone to completely discharge.
I felt like my first Moto X retail unit did much better, maybe this one is refurbished and the battery is worn already?
Thoughts?

Have you tried to fully discharge and recharge it while turned off?
I did this and now my Battery is nice again! About 24 hours with about 3 hours SOT! Wifi + Location always on, 1 hour of recording (so not Deep sleep), 4G and a little Spotify streaming via Network!
ahhh and i deinstalled Switch Widget Pro and some other Apps because they kept my X from sleeping! :good:
Good luck!
I say 4,5 hours of screen on time while surfing is great for the x, i don't see the problem here

Cell Ssandby battery drain 6.0

Does anyone still see this bug? I thought it was fixed in 6.0. I have nexus 6p and moto x. Nexus 6p is just fine with awesome battery life only 2% battery drop overnight but moto x looses abpit 15% battery overnight. TIA
I too have same pblm with my moto x .factory reset the mobile and it will be clear
