I'm not a noob to flashing, but I don't regularly visit this forum, I'm not so up-to-date with regards to development on LG Optimus 4x HD. I bought it a few months ago, and I flashed to it V20A stock, so I think that I unlocked the bootloader, not sure. Do you need to unlock the bootloader to flash v20A?
Anyway, lately, I'm experiencing some battery drain due to the baseband_xmm something wakelock, and my phone just lasts 14 hours, under medium usage, which is not really to my satisfaction. It's also not as snappy as it once was.
I tried factory wipes, but it doesn't work. I get an error on the boot screen. So I decided I should just flash a new Rom altogether. Can somoene please guide me on what would be the ideal Rom for me? I would like one which is completely free of bugs, and stable as much as possible, which offers satisfying battery life, and preferably has fixed the baseband_xmm wakelock, and is relatively bloat-free. I don't care if its LG stock,, or not, as long as everything works. Although I would like to be able to keep QuickMemo, and I like the stock Camera, but I don't know if these can be ported to non-stock Roms.
What can you recommend please ? Also some instructions and/or links to instructions would be appreciated.

So my question's out of place, but your post isn't?
All I wanted to know is what most people recommend in terms of stability and battery life. You don't need to post that. And yeah I did search, but there's just so many roms, which seem to be updated constantly, and I have no idea where to start, and I can't go around flashing rom one after the other testing battery life and stability, because I need my phone and use it often. If I had a spare phone, then I could flash roms non-stop to my LG while using my spare phone as a daily driver.
Any recommendations are appreciated .
See what you like best. What I like best may not be what you like best. Sorry, but you're going to have to flash a bunch of them just like everyone else. Read the forum rules.
Not everyone gets the same reaults , say I'm using PAC with my own settings , you might think its slow and laggy while i don't.

Are those all the best versions I can get? I'm hoping to get something a little more smooth, maybe better on battery.
You could try the 5.08 radio instead, not seen anything to indicate that FRG33 is any better than FRF91 could try if you like.
I would root the phone and put CyanogenMod 6.0 on it and it will open up a whole new world to you. Word of caution: read, read, read and educate yourself before flashing ROM's, kernel or anything else. Also, unless you are very comfortable using adb...don't mess with your radio as screwing up is the only way to brick your phone. Good luck!

My phone is rooted, I'm not sure about installing cyanogen or about how to change kernels though, and someone told me Cyanogen had really bad battery life, which is something I really want to be good.
I went through two batteries yesterday. I wasn't running it hard or anything. I do have all the bells and whistles going though.
I'm sure there is a battery thread for CM6, I'll look and see what I can find.
Regardless of the battery life it would be hard to switch back.

If you have Amon_Ra's or Clockwork Recovery installed, just download CM6 and either Wildmonks or Pershoots oc'd/uv kernel and flash them thru recovery. First, back up your apps, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache & dalvik-cache, wipe battery stats, then flash CM6 then kernel then 08172010 Gapps and reboot!
There are lots of threads dedicated to walking you thru each step.
You could also flash ROMs other than CM6. Enomther's feedback suggests MUCH better battery life and smoother ROM.

i second that. Enom's rom is a must!
I've heard a lot about both of their Tom's but I don't actually know how they compare to eachother in terms of features and performance.
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
Nobody can tell you that objectively since there are no objective head-to-head comparisons using specific set-ups, but only those that users do for themselves . From user comparisons you can gain some of the info you're looking for. You should probably try them and decide for yourself.
To be fair I don't know a feature list of either Cyanogen or Enom. I went on the Cyan site and clicked features but it just shows a video.
I just want something with good battery life!
Honestly, the best battery life is found using a stock rom. FRF91 or FRG33. You won't be able to use any of the great features that you'll find in Enom or Cyan's roms.
Personally, I don't see any adverse affects on battery life with either. You just have to test them out for a day or two under normal conditions. It's not the instant answer you were looking for, but that's how we all know what rom's we prefer.
Isn't there just a plain old feature list to look at?
UV
If you like your current setup and just want better battery life you can flash a custom Under Volted kernel.
Many Rom threads have a list of features in the first or second post
I have always found Enom to be more stable and better battery. The current "stable" CM6 is no where near as stable as Enom's 2.11.x and the battery life of Enom is better, however, the most recent CM6 has some more features that Enom does not yet have, one of them being WPA2 Enterprise support.
hey guys,
So I got this phone and as I'm not a fan of the sense 5.0 I installed the GE from this topic here

I noticed that the battery was really really bad in this rom.
I was just wondering what is a good stable rom that is battery friendly. I'm not really a gamer so i don't need to worry about maxing out my specs.
Also I understand that there is no best rom I am just looking for the views of other people.
And a recommendation in kernel would be nice too.

I use Android Revolution 11.5 with ElementalX kernel.
I lost 1% battery over night. Battery lasts about 30 hours with my usage profile. Give it a try...

I use ViperOne 1.1.1 with Bulletproof Kernel (HTC Battery Saver On).
Battery life is amazing. Can usw my One about two days until i have to charge it.:good:
One more vote for ARHD, really awesome battery life. Currently I'm running TrickDroid 8.0 and overnight I lost 11% while on ARHD it was 2% only. Plus, on TD8 I feel some nasty scrolling lag.
You realise that this thread will just end up a long list of different rom/kernel combinations? Which emphasises the fact that different people will recommend different combinations depending on their usage. The only way to know for yourself is to test them yourself - I know you will read that everywhere, but only because it's true.

Maybe give 'greenify' a try independent of ROM.

When I received my one via ups I was so excited I turned it right on and activated it was that a bad idea? Should I had charged it first before turning on? I allowed it to die completely before the first charge my battery is alright I'm just wondering should I be getting better results? Also my phone shuts down on random and I have to hold volume down and power to reboot doesn't even go to bootloader. So I ran a ruu and now on complete stock to see if the issue goes away. I was also s off with revone I reverted back to s on before the ruu though I'm wondering is the shutting down have to do with me not charging and damaging the battery, the s off, or hardware. I'm hoping it was just a bad root so I dont have to swap phones anyone have any ideas?

I think we all understand it's best to find out for your self what the BEST ROM/KERNEL is. I think that some of of just like to see what everybody is using and how it is working for them in real world. I hate how alot of people in these threads are so reluctant to give out any info on what they are personally using.

i've been reading quite a bit and seems like there's more pros than cons or is it just me i root my first GN4 and the first problem was the WiFi calling not working then i read people saying that S-health was also not working so i check and yes it was not working
then i read some post's about not receiving MMS and guess what i check and is not working
so what is it about this device , Im guessing that maybe this brick is just to much for the developers in here or its just a POS
that noone wants to fnck with it
well if anyone in here has the GN4 rooted and is fully working with no problem just let me know so i can try once again

I read what you wrote, but it makes no sense LOL. I have ONLY rooted and everything works just fine here. Actually use S-Health often, sent MMS today and have WiFi Calling right now as I type this! Might wanna try again, or maybe its just YOUR brick GN4
Edit: ALSO... Trust me its "not too much for the devs here". We have GREAT Devs but people that couldn't beat themselves out of a wet paper bag are killing XDA because they seem Entitled! .. I appreciate the fact you've been reading but no need to quietly insult any devs because you're having issues. I say try again. MANY peoples phones work flawless

Just did a client's phone.
Running firekat v11x.
It's a good rom to start with.
Flawless.
I've been rooted literally since the first day I got the phone, and then rooted my wife's the next day.
No problems on either phone. They've actually been honestly the best phones we've ever had as a whole.
Perhaps you just need to understand what it is you're doing a little better before you dive in.

All of the issues you described have nothing to do with root. Mostlikely it is becuase of the software you are running. Install a custom recovery (TWRP) and then flash Firkat v11 or DKat, and all of those feature should be working.
What build are you on? Setting > About device > Build number.
My guess is that the files you used were for the original build and not for the current build. That is the only time i have see issues come up and can always be fixed by flashing a ROM built for the newest NK4 basband.

No worries. Just follow the steps in 10ks post.
Wondering if anyone is working on a new rom now the sources have been released.
It does not seem like it. I have been looking a lot around the net. I am considering selling mine.
I already built some ROMs for other phones and tablets but you guys need to understand that this is not something that is done in a day !
With my ******* connection I am not even done with the download of the sources ! Then you need to make some adjustments, sync, gather all the sources and finally build which is a really heavy process and right now since I need my computer to work, I can't let him build and compile.
I'll definitely build some ROM for this device since I want to try new ROMs but I need more time
That sounds encouraging. Even if the performance were increased (less battery drain) on the existing Mokee and CM 12.1 Roms, we would be in a better place. I am currently on Mokee 14/03 and the battery drain makes it very difficult to use out and about.

Hi ectoplasma22, I hope you could build a nice rom for this phone, because the smartphone deserves it! Can you say me if you have found some bugs on the Mokee one? Is all working on it? I'm now on miui europe stable and the rom is good but I see some limitation of the Miui rom wich are a little annoying like errors converting user app in system app system and many, but however I found how to switch the 2k dispay resolution to 1080 and the battery life increased +30%, also if I'm getting error writing screenshots on sdcard and some apps see only a small area to work, and the cursor for those apps is blocked in a small space, like the app Nice Eyes which can't be placed on the eyes. Do you know a secure way to change resolution without get anu bugs?

Lots of comments in the Mokee thread here on battery drain. http://en.miui.com/thread-228046-1-1.html
Great that it's working for you, but mine is way worse than miui for drain. Seems to be related to min cpu frequency being high during idle.
I also notice that the cm 12.1 thread has a known issue on needing to have two sims inserted and using the second for lte if you want to use lte. http://en.miui.com/thread-234339-1-1.html. I'm not sure if this impacts Mokee too or if related to battery drain (I have one sim only in sim 2). But my drain is a lot better when aeroplane mode is on.
Android 6 coming from nian, only sound is bugged..

Hi everyone,
I have been using the stock miui for some time without any dramas. I wouldn't mind going back to an AOSP ROM. The main thing holding me back right now is, I find stock miui 12 to be really stable, battery friendly, and retains all the camera functionality. Also, I haven't needed to stuff around with magisk or whatever (excuse me, it has been ages since using a custom ROM) to get basic things apps Netflix working.
So if anyone has any suggestions for which rom to check out, please make them. Keeping in mind the following;
Battery Life
Stability
Camera Functionality
Apps like Netflix working
Thanks for reading if you've made it this far, and I'll make sure to click thanks if you reply.

I have recently left xiaomi.eu on this phone and tried a few ROMs. Most gave me problems with ANX and GCam. The only one on which both work is RR. I don't install a lot of apps and don't spend hours on the phone but battery usage is way better than the most optimized xiaomi.eu ROM.

Gcam and anx camera works perfectly for me in evox.
Make sure you have flashed the rom right.
Pixel Experience is running smoothly. Battery management is very good. While running tons of apps in the background I still can get around 9 hours of SoT (screen on time).
I use this ROM as a daily driver for about 2 months and still had no problems. Apart from this, I fully recommend to use GCam instead of built-in camera app.

Best battery on pe+, however fingerprint is not as good as open source vendor and aod has a broken animation so it's best to not use it imo. Camera works same as stock if you install and camera correctly
