I have been using a class 2 16 GB SD card that I bought off play.com for a while now, and it worked perfectly in both my Hero and my N1, until recently. Since flashing Froyo, I have been having some issues, for example my mp3 files are not indexed in the music app, so nothing shows up, also my phone was freezing, both when I unplugged it from USB and at other random intervals.
So I decided to try another SD Card to see if it would clear up the music indexing problem. Since then, that has worked, and my N1 does not seem to have frozen at all.
Has anyone else had any issues like this, and could the SD card be causing my phone to freeze? (By freeze I mean it sits with whatever I was doing on the screen, but is completely unresponsive, and sometimes if I wake the phone it sits on the slide to unlock screen with the screen dimmed.
Thanks for any help.
I have a issue like this and I re-formated the the card and all worked for me. I again had the issue with another card I just took all data off the card and all worked so there was a file that had corrupted on the card. Hope this helps
That is definitely useful. Thank you.
Did your problem involve freezing at all?
I APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE FOR SUCH A LONG POST. I have searched for an answer to this question and I apologize in advance if I am reasking the same question. I have a problem with my N1 freezing up. It happens a couple of minutes after I turn on the phone. The phone just freezes and won't respond at all. I have contacted HTC. I have swapped out the phone twice (this is my third phone). It keeps happening. I think I have narrowed it down to a problem with the memory card reader. I have bought three separate 8Gb cards two from Sandisk and one from Kingston. It doesn't matter it still happens. Just sometimes when I switch cards it won't happen for a couple of days. I should mention that I formatted all of my cards with FAT32 in windows and I formatted them using the phone also. I ran CHKDSK on all of them and although there were errors on one card it even happens with cards that CHKDSK says are fine. I even used a 2Gb card and the phone froze up then too. I am at a loss as what to do next and I am tired of playing musical micro memory cards. P.S. the phone does NOT freeze up when I DO NOT use an SD card at all. (BTW I also think HTC sent me one of those N1s with the SLCD screen...) Thank you for your help. (Moderators please be kind enough to move this if I have posted in an incorrect place. Thank you)

I finally figured out what was causing the problem. The CNet Audio by Mediafly app when stored on the SDCard was somehow causing the phone to freeze. It sounds ridiculous but after exhaustive troubleshooting with every variable that seems to be it. If this info helps anyone...If not and a mod would like to trash this post. Please do what you would like. Thank you.

Hi guys
I'm having issues with my HD7.
I'll start by saying I had the phone with no problems for about 2 months and then suddenly the problems started.
Basically it starts by just randomly rebooting and it loses all the data, going into the phone info shows that it has about 15 megs of memory, normally this is around 16 Gigs.
So I opened it up removed and reinserted the microsd and factory reset in the menu and via the volume buttons + power method, this works for about a week then the problem happens again.
Initially the problem would go away by just rebooting, but lately I have to open her up every week and reseat it and reset it.
I've tried replacing the SD card, from what I've read online the only card that you can replace the internal one is with a sandisk class 2 card, but the one that was in there already is a class 4?
The new card I tried with still has the same problems.
I have tried contacting my local HTC and they keep referring me to the US HTC as the HD7 is not out here yet. so that isnt a solution.
Anyone know how to resolve this problem?
Did you try formatting the sdcard that was inside the hd7? You can use a Symbian device to format it. Let me know if this works.

Thanks for the reply.
I have tried a format on a PC. I formatted to NTFS and then did a factory reset (volume buttons).
It usually works this way for about a week or two then the problem shows up again.
my card was comming unseated so i took off the bootom antenna cover part and reseated the card and no problems after that
Yeah, thats what i have to do to try and get it to work, basically unscrew the phone take out and reinsert the sd card, but again that is a temporary solution, wondering if there is a more permanent one. = (
When I first got my 2x I had no problems with a dismounting SD card. But recently it has started to happen and generally when the phone reboots on its own and such. When it then comes back online it has dumped the External SD card and I am either forced to peel off the cover and then disconnect and reconnect the card.
Or simply reboot manually and go from there. Either of the 2 methods remounts the card, but I am simply at a loss as to what causes the phone to dump it the first time around.
Anyone got any ideas or tips on this?
Tried with different cards?
I have not experienced this whatsoever. I'm using Transcend 8 GB class 6.
I don't really have a huge choice of cards considering the one I am using is a 16 gig one . And it worked juts fine in the HTC Desire I had before the LG.
And it worked fine in the beginning, with the LG. The phone only started being a bit retarded about it a week or 2 ago >_<
I've had the exact same problem. No idea when/why it happens :<
Same here...
And same here, started a couple of days ago.
I would try to format the card with SD Formatter from Panasonic. Do a Google search. I works real good.
I notice this problem only happens to me if I restart the phone using an app (or via clockwork). I have resigned myself to no longer restarting but to instead, shutdown the phone and manually powering it on again..

Please add your support to the thread over at MoDaCo about Paul's reboot app then...
Same happened to me last night. I've had my Optimus 2X for 5 weeks now, never had any spontaneous reboots, it was quite stable actually. Last night I mounted an 8 GB Kensington external SD for the first time on this phone, with some music and videos on it. After booting up, everything worked perfectly. Then, I went listening to songs via YouTube. All of a sudden, nothing but a very loud humming, which continued after I removed and put back the earphone plug. And then, the phone rebooted by itself, for the first time. After it had rebooted, the external SD was still visible using AndroZip, but it was empty! I was pissed off and went to sleep. Just now, I shut off the phone and started it again, and the external SD is back, with all the stuff I put on it last night. So this incident kind of freaked me out. I mean, the 2X isn't what you call a low-end, cheap phone, is it?
same problem here
Did this happen to anyone on stock rom or could the issue be related to a custom rom?
I have been using a class 6 16GB sdcard (unbranded from a reliable seller @ ebay) for about 2 weeks and did not encounter such error, but I am still on stock rom.

Didnt have it on stock, so it could be a custom rom problem, though i had it on fr17 and cm7 and everything based on that. Seeing as fr 17, if im correct, uses stock as a base it should be possible to happen on stock aswell. Someone correct me if im wrong though

sometimes i also have the mount problem, also in recovery ...
a reboot helps in most cases, sometime it needs 2 ...
i also notified that software reboot to recovery (with an app, o2x reboot) causes mounting problems of sd card more often than rebooting with magic keys ...
but it´s not happening regularly, so i can live with that ...
i had it twice on stock, but in a month's time, so it isn't so frequent fortunately
I have the problem on stock rom and if I do a restart... The phone gets hot where the sd card is once loaded back up. Its shows as Unavailable in SD & Phone Storage and have to then just switch the phone off/on and it shows up again. Strange!.
It must be something to do with a soft reset!....
has anyone figured out a solution to this problem yet?
I was about to start a new thread on this prob, luckily i saw this 1st. I also face this prob. My class4 16gb sd card sometimes become unavailable without any notice. Any solutions?

Hello everyone,
Today, I just received the dreaded "blank SD or unsupported file system" all of a sudden from the stock Samsung 2GB Micro SD Card. Everything gone, Card Fried.
But then I tried to put in a separate memory card into the phone. It's a Kingston 2GB. But the moment I even put it in, the whole phone freezes into oblivion. Only when I take it out and wait 5 seconds, will the phone run at normal speeds again.
Another issue is that I am unable to format the aforementioned Kingston Card from the phone. When I try to do so, the phone just says Erasing... then it stops. When I try to press the Mount SD card option, phone just freezes, until, of course, I remove the card and wait 5 seconds.
All this suddenly happened today. I have been owning this 5830i for about 2 months now, no problems, and suddenly today...
Any insight into these issue are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
To help give a more visual approach to this problem, I have decided to take some time off to create a video.

Hope this clarifies things.
OMG what is this shenanigans? I just put the KINGSTON card into the phone and waited two hours, and the phone had the cheek to work normally again. Yay its solved, but I still find this issue to be very strange. Fickle phone, I guess.
I just found a solution to the Kingston Card Lag Problem.
Go google Panasonic SD Formatter and Format the SD Card using a card reader. Then put the card back in the phone and the Card will work normally again.
umm umm. lol?
