I have an HTC One Developer Edition (64GB) and it comes with a factory unlocked bootloader.
I flashed some recovery images, new kernels, etc, but I'd like to go back to the factory image with the factory unlocked bootloader.
I've tried using the HTC RUU file and it doesn't work unless you "fastboot oem lock", which I did, and it successfully restored the factory image but now the bootloader is "RELOCKED".
I can unlock using HTCDev.com but it erases a bunch of applications and it's no longer the factory developer edition image...
Can anybody help me?

Unlock it via HTCDev and flash back the data partition from my NANDROID, see my signature.
The issue is that unlocking the bootloader wipes the data partition, which has those apps. That's why they are missing. The NANDROID will fully restore your Dev Edition to the factory state.
Thanks for the information...
However, the NANDROID backup requires a custom recovery image, right?
I'm trying to reset everything (recovery image, boot image, data image, etc) back to factory and have the bootloader unlocked (and not say TAMPERED, etc).
Yes. You can fastboot a recovery without installing it but it will say tampered anyways.
Can I restore everything to stock and remove the tampered warning?

Yes, relock your bootloader, install the RUU. Then TAMPERED is gone but bootloader is locked. Unlock with HTCDev. I'd rather go with TAMPERED than with locked bootloader and the hassle with HTCDev.
Hmmm, maybe I'm doing something wrong.
I've relocked the bootloader and installed the RUU but it still says tampered. What can I be doing wrong?
I wish HTC had an RUU that resets the developer edition to factory unlocked (instead of requiring me to use HTCDev to unlock it again...)
You only need to worry about it saying tampered if you send it in for repair. Which you would flash back to stock anyway.
You don't see tampered when booting, so who cares!
Yeah, sorry... I'm new to Android and just trying to learn how to completely reset the phone.
Also, I'm wondering why the tampered warning is even displayed on the developer edition because isn't the entire purpose of this version to replace the different system images, etc?

Because it's still the same hboot/bootloader but just sold pre-unlocked by HTC.
Ok, so just to clarify then, I can't really go back to factory unlocked (without the tampered warning), but it doesn't really matter...?

You should use Helium aka Carbon for your backups in case you cannot root again. It don't require root.

I used command prompt Android ADB to run the RUU. Tampered label went away, but "relocked" was shown instead of "unlocked" and I sent it back just like that no problem.

I saved an email an HTC support guy sent me for the Developer One Edition.
The only file you need is an RUU.exe you can download from HTCdev.com click "developer" and download somewhere there. If you bought your developer edition in USA like I did, your filename should be RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_BrightstarUS_WWE_1.29.1540.3.exe
Get that file and follow the instructions:
The easiest way to do that is to put the device into Fastboot Mode:
1. Boot the device into bootloader (Disable Fastboot, Power off device, Press + hold volume down and power on)
2. Navigate to Fastboot using the volume buttons. Select with power
3. Connect device to PC. “Fastboot” should change to say “Fastboot USB”
4. Execute the RUU (Rom Update Utility)
You can also do it using HTC Sync Manager. I will provide you with the instructions.
1. Download and install HTC Sync Manager from http://www.htc.com/www/software/htc-sync-manager/
2. Once it is installed proceed with step three.
3. Power down the phone
4. Power on the phone by holding volume down + power
5. Fastboot is already highlighted by default, tap power to go into it and plug the phone into the computer.
a. Note: If all drivers installed properly, you should see a change on the screen that says “fastboot usb” in red.
6. Run the RUU that was downloaded from the website and follow the on-screen directions.
a. Note: If done correctly, the screen on the phone will change to solid black and say “HTC” in grey letters and proceed to flash the phone

That should remove the "tampered" from hboot and will set your bootloader to "relocked" even though phone ships as unlocked. If you want to do this just for warranty, then you can argue the "relocked" happened from their official RUU and therefore still covered under warranty.
EDIT: There is a guide in xda stickied dont know how you did not see it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358738

The thing is you have Verizon ... Verizon must be s-off to unlock the bootloader to flash custom recovery and roms. You say you "put wrong rom" on the phone. Do you mean a rom for a different phone (samsung - nexus ? ) or just a rom for a international HTC One ? are you still s-off ? can you post a picture of the bootloader before it reboots?

kk, ty u for replay
No ideas from my side:
S-On, relocked and no recovery on Verizon, only thing is a RUU.
If you can't boot in bootloader mode, there is nothing you can do.
you need to boot in bootloader to determine what ruu you need (if one available for your version)
and you also need to start the ruu from bootloader.
looks like the only solution is to send the phone for repair or maybe a JTAG repair...
k, thank guys for replay

Okay guys I've kinda messed up my phone. I'm gunna try and keep this brief , but I need to relock and unroot my phone mainly for warranty purposes. My phone is In a reboot loop, i turn it on and it stays on for about a minute but then it turns off by itself (might be to do with a sunken in lock button I'm not sure). I want to send it back to htc so that they can sort out the lock button, but as it is rooted and unlocked , and simply not working i think my warranty is void.
I've watched various you tube videos and want to use an RUU to restore it , but I'm not too sure which one too use , (does it really matter?) . I am UK orange EE carrier . I've attached my phones details. Can anyone assist me further please , I am hopeless lol . Thank you if you've read this far.

if your power button is screwed up it's going to be pretty hard to get into the bootloader and recovery. I don't know of any RUU for your carrier (doesn't mean it don't exist just means I don't know about it)

anyway, forget the warranty even if you ruu the phone. the phone must be locked (not relocked) and tampered flag removed for the warranty to be valid. Setting the bootloader back to locked and removing the tampered flag require s-off, which will be impossible to achieve with a power button stuck (if this is really the case)
If you really think it's that you're better off getting some tiny jewlers screwdrivers and see if you can pop it back up because otherwise your warranty is void

That's the thing I'm not sure whether my phone constantly rebooting is a hardware problem or a software one. Also say if I was to use an RUU that wasn't 100% like what I needed what would be the risks ?

Say I was to send my phone to HTC in its current state do you think they'd send it back or charge me for the repair ?
Also when I hold down the power and volume buttons I can enter the boot loader and use it normally, I'm beginning to think that I don't have a hardware problem at all. Once in the boot loader it all works fine , is there anyway I can do a system restore to set back to default (I know it'll still be rooted) . But I would just like to get my phone functional again.
I'm using TWRP and believe there is a backup file on my phone. But the whole using a backup to restore always confused me.
Say hypothetical I have no button problem at all what would you do ?

From the way you explained your first post it sounded like it was bootlooping even in bootloader mode.
If the bootloader is ok, then put TWRP recovery 2.6.3.3 on your phone, push this to your phone sd card and flash it in recovery, during install, select wipe data, flash stock recovery but don't flash stock radio.
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_3-62-401-1-zip/
However, with TAMPERED and UNLOCKED in your bootloader, HTC will charge you for any repairs, the only way you can get rid of those flags is to S-OFF.

Thanks for that so that will get me to exactly how I had the phone when it came out the box , but just unlocked and tampered.
Does it have to be that version of twrp?
One thing that always confused me was the wipe data , doesn't that remove everything on the phone ? But does it not matter as we're pushing it onto the phone?

if you have a TWRP backup restore it
if you use the guru reset you flash it from twrp

There is a way to return your phone to what it was before. What you have to do is unlock again bootlader. If you do not know how to do it let me know.

Step. 2 Download WinDroid Universal Android ToolKit
Step. 3 Plugin your device
Step. 4 Locate the file WinDroid Universal Android Toolkit v2.3 click on it
Step. 5 let it setup device drivers if needed
Step. 6 select unlock bootloader screen will popup locate the file select it
Step. 7 Click yes to unlock
Step. 8 On your phone you will see a an option to unlock bootloader use volume keys to navigate power bottun to select and your phone will reboot to recovery if stock evert5hing will be erased if Team Win Recovery select reboot and you will be right back to your android homescreen
If success I would like for you to send me an email and like me smy email is [email protected] sometimes I can be a lifesaver and I hope you will find this information useful if you do please share on xda forums

Just fyi, this doesn't do this: Removing Security Warning On HTC Devices On HBOOT OR FASTBOOT
All this does is unlock the bootloader. You'll actually get the Unlocked or Tampered (depending on what you do) warning by doing this. To reset the flag you'll have to trigger it so that it thinks it's not been tampered with... and to remove the red text, you'll have to flash a red text removed hboot, which is available on the forums for those with S-OFF.
The reason why I put these instruction s on here for people to get their HTC device unstuck or unbrick their device people would try to lock the bootloader it would only show security warning on hboot all they have to do is follow these instructions to get their device out of hboot or security warning it happened to me I have found the solution to get out of the hboot or security warning and I have figured it to re unlock the bootloader

There is a way to return your phone to what it was before. What you have to do is unlock again bootlader. If you do not know how to do it let me know.

please help to unlock the new bootloader. It is that I'm in the same situation.
Bootloader RELOCKED - HELP!
In bootloader i see "RELOCKED". When I flash again the bin file, it tries to reboot to recovery, but it enters in a loop (entering recovery for ea second, showing some lines and restart and so on), and the bootloader remains "RELOCKED".
PLEASE HELP!
I'm having the same problem. My boot loader says:
Code:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** RELOCKED ***
*** Security Warning ***
And when I try to unlock it by selecting yes in the bootloader unlocker menu the only thing that happens is that some text gets layered on to the menu, at the bottom the disclamer is displayed and at the top it says Entering Recovery...
But nothing ever happens after that. So the only thing i can do is select No instead.
I'd really appreciate some help cause I don't wanna have to get a new phone.

I'm noticing that most of you guy's are stuck in the bootloop after unlocking the bootloader but that's because you didn't flash a recovery now I'm also noticing and guessing that most of you guy's right here on page number 2 are not living in the USA and if that's the case then you guy's most likely have the 64 bit versions so you can never ever flash anything that's for 32 bit only now to help you with the recovery there's only one that's 64 bit for the phone you have and it's called Philz Touch Recovery so you need to search for that here in the xda forums and then after that follow instructions on how to flash recovery!!

Could you please help me with more details on this?
I need to do exactly that - remove the "TAMPERED" and "UNLOCKED" messages on top of bootloader. It is US phone
However i am NOT S-OFF. I thought to get S-OFF you need to flash a new bootloader anyway??
TIA
