Hi - I'm running ARHD 21.0 on my HTC One, and sometimes, when I disconnect from a wifi network, or am out of range, my phone does not revert back to mobile data, until I restart it.
Do you have the mobile data option enabled? and if the mobile data coverage in the locations you have this issue in?
If so is it supported in the ROM you are using?
Then if it is a clean install may be the way forward

Thanks - I have got the mobile data option enabled everywhere I'm having this issue - and it is intermittent.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'is it supported in the ROM?
I may have to resort to a clean install, but am trying to avoid one.
If it is an intermittent issue then it is ROM supported, it may be coverage related, on Phones good signal strength does not always mean that there is available bandwidth on the local cell tower
I would plump for a reset or a Clean re install of the ROM

I think maybe a clean reinstall is going to be the best move - because, I find that if, without changing location at all, I restart my phone (or turn airplane mode on/off) then, the phone finds the mobile data, and usually its H+ with full bars.
Thanks so much for your help though.

I have an HD7 and intermittently I will try and use my phone, I will have perfectly fine signal yet none of my apps email/youtube/facebook/internet explorer/bing search can connect to the web. Signal will be be fine yet they will pull no data.
If I restart the phone it will work again for a few hours and then randomly happen again. Personally I am getting just a little annoyed with having to constantly restart the phone 5-6 times a day. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
Just so you guys know I am not trying to troll or dog the OS, merely wondering if I have a faulty unit or if this is an OS issue.

so sorry, but do u have data connection with your current sim/plan????
my last plan did not have data plan on it and the phone did not work until i sudscribed the data...
and u cant set up phone with out 3G data plan...
I faced the same trouble few days ago. I dont have Wifi, cannot download "connection setup", but i flash a Singtel Rom (My HD7 is T-mobile):
RUU_Schubert_hTC_Asia_SEA_WWE_1.57.728.02_Radio_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50.10_Signed
Then it work, data connection is fine.
For anyone who comes from an Android phone with data service, check with T-Mobile to see if the service is combined or separate. T-Mobile did have two separate data services, one for WinMo and another for Android, and they would not work with the other phone system. This is how it was with my service and T-Mobile combined them for me so that my data service now works with either system.

Yeah I have data on my plan. Data will work fine for hours but then I will put it down while doing something use it again and no data. If I reset it then it works again for a short while until it happens again.

Hi Jason,
Was it difficult to flash your T-Mobile (USA?) HTC HD7 with the above ROM? Did you gain anything else over the original T-Mobile Rom? I presume it will get rid of the T-Mobile splash screen! Cheers.
Running into the same problem as the OP with my Mrs. HD7. Took hers for the last little while and I can do a reset and access about 3 pages worth of info or updates and then it drops. Tried manual apn configuration, automatic and htc connection setup and no luck. This is at all times of the day in all locations so it is not network based or sim card based as I went to the t mobile store and stuck in the sim and was able to access the network with zero problems on all demo phones. Customer care finally agreed to a warranty replacement after some help from a store rep. They would not allow an in store exchange unfortunately.
What network are you with? I get data issues on giffgaff quite a lot. But a reset does nothing about it - it seems to be related to which cell tower I'm bouncing off and whether it feels like giving me data connection (even though signal strength is maxed out!).
I have this same problem, personally ive had it with my HD2. A quick fix for this is turning on and off airplane mode instead off turing off and on your device.
Does anyone know a solution for this annoying problem? After switching 2G to 3G or vica versa the internet will not work, shows 2G or 3G connectivity but the upload and download arrows never come up and there's no connection.
thanks

restart?
maybe that's help.
also, wipe cache from recovery.

I restart my phone 5-6 times a day, I install new kernels often so cache clearing doesn't appear to help.. im thinking its some kernel related bug but it happens on Neoblaze and Horsepower.

I'm having the same problem. After flashing HP RC 4 (or so) kernel, mobile connection just doesn't work at all, either 2g or 3g. I tried flashing cm7 (from Topo) to see if the problem is with the ROM, but it still doesn't work.
Since I mostly use wifi, I didn't notice when it stopped working, plus I usually disable mobile data. Haven't tried flashing another kernel though :/
My beloved N1 has recently started to develop this problem. It doesn't matter if it's on 2.3 or 4.04 ROM. After wifi connection is closed, the phone was unable to automatically switch to HSDPA data connection.
No amount of toggling 3G data or WiFi will fix this problem. I have to take the phone into airplane mode and out before I can start HSDPA data. While this problem only happens occasionally, the frequency has gradually climbed. Could this be hardware related?
try going into setting >> wireless & network >> mobile networks make sure your outside because that way it pick up the towers =) and if that doent work then try FULL WIPE & REINSTALL ROM if it continues then it might be a hardware issue then my friend your really in a pickle
Hi.
Is there any way for our android device to automatically start using mobile data even if its connected to a WIFI network, like it does in Iphone and Blackberry.
There are times you go to a certain location and having used their wifi before, your phone automatically connects to it only to find out that no data is transmitting and you can sit there for hours not realizing your phone is disconnected from the internet whereby, in BB or iphone, the phone just switches over to mobile data and keeps you online.
Most apps available just toggle wifi on and off but none I've seen can keep WIFI connected and still use mobile data.
Any help will be appreciated
There is an option, that the phone only connects to wifi if there is a good connection (under wlan --> advanced )
Hope this helps.
Same problem (but inverse)
Hi everybody,
I'm facing the same problem, just inverse: when the phone "considers" the wifi signal "too weak", it automatically switches to mobile data (even if the latter are disabled), the result is the mobile frequently drop the connection in some places at home where the signal is a little less intense.
In my phone, the option mentioned by Marc199 doesn't exist (or isn't displayed)...
What can I do?
Is there a way to access "hidden" settings like the one mentioned?
Thanks for your answers!

Well, you can always use the quick settings to turn off the mobile data.

Well, there might be a chance that HTC removed (or never implemented) this feature. I'm using a GPE ROM.
If you mean the developer options, they won't be any use to you.
BestSignal Wifi-->Mobile Data App
I just installed BESTSIGNAL on my **HTC ONE M7**from the developer of the same name (BestSignal).
It's the paid version but only AUD1.99 and it works well, simple yet highly functional GUI. However it was not compatible on my Google Nexus 7 (2012) nor my ASUS Transformer TF700T so be sure to check your device compatibility.
As a XDA newbie I'm not allowed to include active HTML links so the App URL extension is: details?id=com.eightythirty.bestsignal and the Dev's is: developer?id=BestSignal
So, here's the thing:
My S5 mini is running the LOS 14.1 (from https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga.../g800f-m-y-lineageos-14-1-g800f-m-y-t3549055) and I have a weird issue with the mobile data connection. I don't know how to explain it but it's like if the mobile data were "on demand" mode. I start any application that requires data and the phone stays idle for a minute and then it connects.
The only workaround that I use is to switch off mobile data and then turn it on again. I though it was something with the ROM, so I flashed the official MM firmware and still encountered the issue.
Another thing I tried was to install an app that keeps the data connection active by sending pings to some IP.
I really don't know if this is something related to my carrier (I'm from Venezuela and using Movistar). Any ideas/comments are appreciated.
Best regards!
