[Q] HTC One Bricked/not booting - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, today I installed tbalden's kernel on my stock rooted One. I took a nandroid before just in case. Now, after flashing, the phone doesn't boot up.. If I hold the power button/power+volume buttons, the soft keys flash, but the phone doesn't reboot.. Tried it for like 2 minutes :crying: It is detected in device manager as an MTP device, but it doesn't appear in My Computer. Even the charging led doesn't turn on. Please help asap. :crying:

Keep pressing POWER + VOL DOWN until it does reboot, also have a bright light above the light sensor. Since the soft keys are flashing the phone is recognizing that you're pressing the buttons so that's good.
sometimes it could take several tries, and several minutes until the phone reboots.

Thanks for the quick answer.. So should I have the charger connected while doing the above? Ps, I have removed the SIM card as many people said that it was the culprit.. Having the charger connected for around 15 minutes makes the phone hot.. Any more advice??

Charger not really necessary, unless you think the battery is empty, in which case you should charge it for a while before trying to turn it on.
Don't think the SIM card has anything to do with that.
You should just try to get to recovery and flash a compatible kernel or restore your backup.

The battery was at ~57% and charging when I flashed it, so the battery can't be empty..
And the phone isn't exactly turning on to flash a compatible kernel (and afaik, the kernel which I flashed is completely compatible with my model, 801e)..

Then charger not necessary, just put it under a bright light and press POWER + VOL DOWN until it boots into bootloader.

I think u flashed tbalden kernel 2.2.0-beta-2 Sense 4.3
right ???
Even i am struck up with same .. even i am not able to enter recovery

Okay, so now the fingers of both my hands are numb from holding the buttons, and the phone seems nowhere near to coming on.. It isn't even the case of the backlight being off.. I used a flashlight went over the screen with it, and couldn't see a thing.. Have tried power+vol down, power+vol up, power+both buttons, continuously for 5 minutes each, while flashing the light on the sensor, and nothing happened..

Maybe the battery is dead, let it charge a couple of hours and try again. When you put it on the charger does the LED light up?

Nope, it doesn't.. Ill connect it and see, but I'm sure that it had enough battery..

If the LED is not coming on, then you may have a "completely drained" battery. Leave it on the charger until you see the LED come on, even try a different charger to be sure.
It took one guy 4 days!! to recover from the completely drained battery. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441279

Nexus One does not turn ON anymore

I was doing the regular stuff, flashing, recovery, trying the new JB roms.
Suddenly, after removing the battery and put it on again, the phone turn black and does not turn on anymore. Not even on the charger, there's no 'light', nothing, nada.
Appeared to be dead
Any way to resuscitate it again?
Thanks

It dos not turn on, I mean, the screen does not turn on, there's no charging light, no functional light, showing that the phone is working. If I plug the charger, no light. Nada

Any ideas what should I do to make it work, I mean, just turn it on, the rest I know what to do

I know this mya sound a little crazy, but it worked for me on a HTC Desire with similar problems. You wanna remove the sim and micro sd, but leave the battery in. Now put it in the freezer! Leave it there for 4 hours. Let it de-frost for 30min. Plug in the charger, and it should power up.

WTF Dude..... Just stop spamming and scaring users already. LEAVE!
This method is not dangerous. It fixed the radio brick this phone had. His battery doesn't make a good contact, but the phone is definetly alive.
I wanted to ask: How fast is the orange light blinking?
You could have a problem with your cord, or, I've had an odd problem before with a certain rom where it wouldn't charge from a usb port anymore.
So, if you aren't trying a wall charger, I would recommend you give that a shot. Leave it plugged in there for like 5 or 10 minutes before you go back to try it, just in case it was completely dead.
Sorry about your luck.

[Q] Usb connection problem with Droid 4

Hi guys,
I have a serious problem with one of my Droid 4. It doesn't connect to pc and doesn't charge with regular micro-Usb cable. The only cable that I could charge with it's a usb power cable that came with a Varta Backup Charger 57051..I suppose it's not a data cable, just a power cable.Obviously with this cable the pc doesn't recognize any device!
When I connect usb cable(attached to pc or power supply)to the phone(in stand by),it wake up screen, but doesn't show me "charging" on the screen or other usb related information(usb debug, mass storage mode,etc..etc..)
Phone works perfect..but I can't connect to the pc and charging just with that very short cable is such a pain in the a**!!!
Somebody could help me with my problem?I'm in Italy,so I think Verizon support it's an impossible way!
I have had nothing but trouble with any non motorola branded cables. I think they have some special wiring that makes them work when others won't.

have you tried a wall charger?
is phone rooted/rom'd?
does it go into charge mode, after turned off, connected to wall charger?
you could try wiping data &/or
flashing xml recovery file, but don't flash with low battery, without a TBH moto 'factory programming' cable or adapter

Yes,I try wall chargers and they charge the phone only if I use no-data cables. The phone is rooted with cm 10.1 in slot 1,but stock slot is empty due to a wrong wipe did!Now I can't connect to the pc.
I think it don't go in charge mode, because when I connect it to the charger it switch on!
Where I could buy a tbh moto "factory programming"cable or adapter?I never saw it!Or,if it's not too compicate, how I could make one of them?I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1077414&highlight=motorola+factory+cable..is it right?

no you only need adapter if battery if too low to program
have you checked device manager for a device with a yellow triangle (driver needed)

First, charge until the battery is full, make sure your phone is on during the charging.
Second, power off the phone.
Third, charge it again until the battery is full, make sure your phone is off this time.
Fourth, stop charging and power on the phone.
When your phone is on and the app menus appear, power off your phone at once, then repeat step 3.
Make sure your charger is original before calibrating. My battery is back to normal with above method, hope it's helpful to you.
Hope so! I've tried something similar, but I usually use my wireless charger. Thanks!

this is a droid turbo forum, and when imply that one person is wrong because of that pretty much states your talking about this phone. Also wheres this proof that root will calibrate the battery. I see none.

About 2 minutes after I took those, my phone shut off. So I am assuming about 6%. Then when the phone turned back on, it was showing 6%.

That happened to me one time and it was due to a qi charger. Ever since it dies at 1%.

Phone won't go into fastboot mode!

My m7 won't boot into fastboot, when holding volume down and power I get the HTC logo and a blackscreen, any help would be appreciated.
Solution: Forgot to screw in one screw thanks to the tape, screwed it in and worked. This issue is caused by a hardware problem.

If yes your phone is in RUU mode. Does it have the 4 triangle in each corner or not?

Really appreciate the speedy reply, uploading a video to youtube to show what happens. Phone has unlocked bootloader and S-OFF. This happened after a screen replacement, and I hadn't reapplied this black cover for the volume which could be why I can't get into fastboot (volume button might not work even though I can feel and hear it clicking) like this

Ok so its not what I thought, looks like its bootlooping and the volume button isn't working. Are you sure everything is reassembled correctly?

Should be, except the black plastic covering the volume buttons are no longer there.
Looks like this instead

Would the phone power on by just holding the volume down button?
Tapatalk won't let me edit my posts and attach images. So I apologize for multi posts. Found my culprit
I see 3 traces and a bunch of dots on the cable would anyone know if my handy iron would be of use?

that makes sense now
Don't know if you'll be able to repair this, it worth a try for sure. Otherwise you'll have to replace the daughter board, you can find one for 20-25$ on ebay.

You should know by now that nothing is impossible. Hoping it works will update in 10-15 minutes :fingers-crossed:
No good the cable is WAY too small for me to solder all 4 traces without jointing them.

I've replaced the daughter board, same issue. It won't go to the fastboot menu.
