Hey all. Had my HD+ for a little while now. Currently running a CM10.1 rom, but noticed it with a few different roms.
Has anyone else noticed uneven backlighting? I see it the most on white screens. While in portrait, there seems to be a brighter area running up and down the center, with slightly greyer areas on the side.
Wondering if it's common to all models, or if I need to exchange mine.
Yeah I seem to have this on mine but only notice it on white screens. I have the 16GB version.

Yesterday I have observed that there is a one inch long trapezium shaped black patch towards the bottom left corner of my Note.
That particular patch is brighter than the surroundings, so you cannot make out it is present except for very dark colors. My touch screen is working fine and as I said, display too is fine, just that there is a dark patch which visible only in dark environments.
What could be it?

Sounds like your pixels are going out maybe? That could happen with a bad lcd or if you dropped it they have an app in the market if it does not work you will probably have to return it to samsung under warranty

See 'galaxy note screen issues' thread.
This is a common and annoying hardware issue with earlier built Notes. From what i gather, can be corrected via screen replacement. I also have this issue on my s2, but did not realise this until I saw it on the Note. Flaws seem more glaring on Note's larger screen.
I had a Note with large black blotch that was very visible on start up and shutdown ...more rarely during dark video scenes. I returned it to Amazon and got replacement. I recommend you do this, or get screen replacement.

I got my first nexus 7 on Tuesday, but there was something stuck under the screen. So I ordered a new one and it got here today. The first thing I noticed is that the screen color on each screen were different. My old one had pure whites, like it should, now my new one has a weird tint to it, making the whites look crappy and un-natural. Has anyone else noticed it? And does anyone know if it is possible to change the screen color?

I don't have Nexus 7 yet, but I have the same experience with my Samsung Galaxy W. I am very satisfied with my SGW display, it has pure whites without any tint. I must say that it is my best LCD on mobile device so far. But I was shocked when I saw another SGW of my colleague. His display has very yellowish tint and both displays side to side look like they are from different phones. What is strange, for him both looks like the same, so he is happy with his display as I am with mine.

I don't think so. If you aren't satisfied with it, change it again, because primarily the display quality makes the Tablet just ordinary or exceptional or lemon.
I've read about phones having screens from 2 different manufacturers before as well. Not saying the N7 is like that, but it is possible.
I bought an a Nook HD+ just last week after I couldn't resist the tempting $149 price tag anymore. Quickly flashed it to emmc CM10.1, & it's been running great.
One thing though is that the back case has started to fade & discolor in a weird pattern. It's a little hard to explain, but I've attached a couple not-so-great photos. It's like the overall gray color has given to some dark spots where it looks like the soft-touch plastic is worn, especially up & down the left edge on the same side of the metal ring. the corners on that side are almost completely black now instead of gray. I assumed it's because I usually hold it w/ my left hand along that left-side bezel. However, the fading has spread in a zebra pattern across the entire back casing.
So I was wondering if anybody else has experienced this? Search results on Google mention similar issues with the Nook Color but I couldn't find anything on Nook HD+. Hoping it's just a cosmetic issue but I do notice the bottom-left corner getting pretty hot at times, so I wonder if it's a symptom of a bigger problem. I know quality control isn't the best with these Nooks, as I already had to return the first one I bought (it was brand new but the LCD screen would turn onto this weird abstract painting-like gibberish)
Is this worthy of an exchange or is this just the cost of "getting what I paid for"?

Wow, that looks weird.
Just checked mine (two weeks old, one week in case, flashed to cm 10.1 almost immediately), still looks new.
Was yours in a case?
nope, no case. I just keep it in a faux leather sleeve sometimes when I carry it around. It is definitely odd

Could you have put it down in something? Say someone just cleaned a counter with bleach and didn't clean it off all the way?
I have two Nook HD+s and I noticed that white looks different on them. The color temperature is different. Is this something that can be tweaked?
I will be interested too. My HD+ white color looks yellowish. I heard that Nook did it purposely so that it looks nice for reading.

There's programs like Screen Adjuster and SunFilter in the Play Store which may be able to assist you with this.
I just got my Nexus 6 today and not sure if my eyes are playing tricks on me or not. I can see a discoloration of white colors when the brightness is turned down, and if there is a white background the right side of the screen looks slightly darker than the right side.
Just checking to see if this is just my screen or did they intend a slight difference there.
The right side of this guy's screen was a bit darker

haha I just came to point that out!
This seems to be a common issue with AMOLED displays.
I went to the tmobile store to get a nano sim card and the nexus 6 display unit had the exact same issue.
erica griffin mentions the same issue with her note 4 at around the 20min mark.

You can exchange your phone, but there's no guarantee you'll get a better display.
I would just live with it if its not too bad as this is just a characteristic of AMOLED screens.
It's not bad, I can only notice it with a white background and when the brightness is lowered. With color it looks fine.
I seen the other thread, my screen still works just the color looks a little off.
