How can you tell if the HTC One has water damage? My phone seems to be fine, but I had to put on the Xtremetech Screen protector and squiging the device led to a few droplets of soapy water to touch my dual speakers and sides. I don't think there is water damage, but I want to be sure about it. Thanks.

The camera flash should turn red.

Then the water sensor didn't trip. As long as your phone is working, I guess its okay. I usually stay away from wet install screen protectors.

I've been with a friend in a aquapark and made photos, videos etc with our Xperias(Z).
My Z performed well and everything was okey, but my friends Z began with trouble.
His front and rear camera were white.
He left the phone with the flaps open all the night and it performed well, the camera were ok so the device.
After a week his power button 'died' and he could wake the phone with volume up button, weird.
I told him to put it in rice and wait to be fixed. He left it so 5days and now there is like a splash of water on the screen not moving.?
He has no warranty but the phones strips are white.
Do you have any suggestions?
C6603 ?
refresh: Power button is fixed but the water splash under the screen remains.
C6603 ?
May you Send some pics of it? Then I'll look at it.
Or Would be even better if you make a video while pressing softly on it.

I will send you some pics in so 20mins till I meet with my friend.
C6603 ?
Here they are:

more
C6603 ?
Seems not so good.
Does it move while pressing?(Even a bit should be good)
And Does it just see so that he doesn't have the Anti-Shutter protection? Because if it's missing water-resistance can be "damaged".
And after a week, there shouldn't be any water inside.

I bet the water got in because the condensation.
It has the antishatter protection.
The water doesn't move..
I put it again in rice and will hold longer this time

What if the water is in between the antishatter film and the screen?
It would be squezed out I think...
C6603 ?
Maybe remove the front glass and clean it if there is no other solutions.

This was my first idea too, but I don't think so. And then it Would be movable. The film is relative hard to remove, so water shouldn't come in.
I think it's between Glass and LCD unit.

the glass and the lcd are also glued together
Then it will be really hard the water to get out.
Before I put it in rice the first time I didn't have this problem with the screen 'splash'
I hope the rice will pull it out.

The touch screen simply can't work underwater, it's just the physics of how it works. Also when it's wet it can work improperly as well. I've found though that when it's wet, if you turn the screen off then on again, it seems to remember where all the water drops are and learns to ignore them, meaning it will work quite well despite the water.
And I'm sorry, but it is not and nor has it ever been cold in Egypt . It's negative 23 C where I am from right now. That is cold
Thank you
That was helpful

I don't think so. Mine under water, 2cm under clean water in a glass, do not working either. No signal, no touch screen, nothing. Probably it's meant to be like that, a kind of safety.

It is a capacitive touch screen, which means that it senses your finger because it has a different conductivity than the air around it. So does water, so the water is detected across the entire touch screen and prevents the screen from differentiating your finger and all of the water.
Based on @301stSpartan's post it sounds like the touch screen has some capability to ignore inputs it thinks are invalid. I tested this a little bit and it seems to be true:
1) Lock the phone, turning the screen off.
2) Use your thumb to cover a large area of the screen.
3) Turn the screen back on, remove your thumb and quickly try to swipe where you placed your thumb. For about 0.5s, the screen will not respond to your finger. After that, it will work normally.
@xasbo, that why I said is not an issue. Even if there is some trick to make it work the touch screen I don't even try and is not the touch screen dead only under water, the signal too. We can just make pictures because maybe this is his reason.

Sure, I was just pointing out it's not a safety thing - there's no risk of electrocution or anything like that.

It's very easy to replace the back glass that does include a new lens. If it bugs you that much that's an option.

You have to heat up the back then the adhesive comes loose, make sure you order a back glass that has the adhesive already applied and then you reheat that when you put it on. I did it on my Xperia Z and it worked fine. It's basically just a piece of waterproof tape that keeps the water out.
Or mayb you can use some p2000 waterproof sandingpaper and allot of patients? Don't know for sure, replacing is always possible...

No probl.
Can you mayb try to polish the back after removing? I am quite anxious to know if it would work, in that case 1 can pollish the whole phone, also the frame (to end up with an mirror/chrome finish)?

Hi!
I ordered this (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/for-...cover-back-housing-back-glass/1603707841.html) back plate two weeks ago and it arrived yesterday, my old one was broken.. I don't know if it's glass or hard plastic, but it's holding up great without any protection!
There is no shatter film on the backplate, so I think its not original but OK.
It was very easy to take the old one off; just some heat, a sharp knife and a guitar pick did the trick.
The new one came with adhesive, and after cleaning the frame it went right on!
All in all very nice, and easy install, may be original, may be not.
Press thanks if I helped you

Hi!
For copyright issues it's blurred on the site, but it's there. First I was worried about the quality of the logo's and branding, but when it arrived, all the logo's (Sony, Xperia, NFC icon, G camera icon) were all very crisp and detailed!
It looks like the real deal
Does anyone have this problem? My Xperia SP, when you looked in a room with lots of light (or in an outdoor environment) it is possible to realize a lot of sand between the touch screen and the LCD panel.
Not to mention my touchscreen, which displays a little "loose" the arc of the phone.
Someone managed to solve it? I've been thinking about dropping my touchscreen without removing your phone (with all care of the world, go through a credit card around the edges to loosen the glue) and then clean the LCD screen and the touchscreen using a soft brush, removing any sand present in that place. Is this a good idea?
Thanks in advance..
I saw a teardown of the phone and the lcd is not glued to the touchscreen this device is really easy to teardown but you won't get further then removing the back cover because of the side screws

I can partially remove the touchscreen without disassembly the phone? Without removing any connector, just to clean the screen.. can i do this?
You have to completely disassemble the phone to separate the digitaliser and the LCD as with most phones manufacturers tend to start with the screen and build up from there is RMA an option because that's the sort of thing covered by warranty

Is really easier? More than disassemble a Xperia Play?
@zenug I have never tried the play but from looking at photos I would say the SP is easier. It's not a difficult phone to disassemble nothing like as hard as certain fruit based phones. Just make sure you go slow there's nothing more frustrating than waiting for a new ribbon to arrive because you damaged one. There are videos on youtube of the teardown. One last thing vv important if it is sand or dust in between the LCD and digitaliser use a can of compressed air to blow it away sand will scratch the glass and ruin the LCD. Fingerprints and smears from cloths are almost impossible to remove. Think fitting a screen protector but cleaner, much cleaner. Try and avoid touching or wiping either surface if possible.
Sent from my C5303 using xda app-developers app
Well, I've cleaned the screen using my ninja technique (passing a card around the screen edges to loosen the glue, I used a brush to clean properly) and not to the problem appears again, I used a kind of "glue" to stick the edges and prevent the entry of dust on the screen. I do not think that is a definite "fix", because it is a McGyver technique that should be resolved by Sony.
sorry for my bad english
Even i have got the same prob
If i take it to service centre(phone still in warranty)
Will i be charged?

No you will not be charged its a hardware failure and make sure they reseal the screen not just clean it or the dust will get back in

Wow if i am not buying the z i will do it too
Hey there.
I bought a broken HTC ONE S from someone on ebay.
The bottom lights light up but the screen remains black. It seems like it boots up properly as I pressed the home button and one of the volume buttons and heard a picture sound.
I saw online that it's recommended being booted into recovery mode using volume and power button but nothing.
Just though I'd ask before I buy a new screen assembly.
There is a crack that goes across the screen. I thought it might be broken but my experiences with broken LCD's are that when they break they sitll light up white...?
Only thing I can think of is water damage maybe shorted out the LCD. I'm unfamiliar with the One S so Idk where the water sensor strip would be..
