I saw a similar thread for this but the suggested widget refuses to load ("Business Calendar Free" by Appgenics)
Calengoo widgets will load but not function properly (at first the monthly would allow me to jump back and forth in the months, but then it quit after stranding me in the wrong month)
Google calendar widgets don't show up at all in Apex. I know the TW doesn't work.
Any suggestions? Or should I just launch the calendar app and give up on it.
You can take a look at Month Calendar Widget (I'm the author). Cannot post the link because I'm a new user here, but search for it on Google Play, it's the first result looking for "calendar widget".
I don't use Apex, but I'm pretty sure it works with it (I remember email exchanges with users of Apex Launcher).
Warning: the widget just shows months, nothing more. Right now I'm working on a revamped version that has more compatibility with latest Android versions. Next will come Google Calendar connection, the most required feature.
Hope this helps,
José

Hi, im not sure if there is any way to run aosp apps on our galaxy. Im looking for Calendar, phone, contacts and calculator. Thanks in advance.
Edit: think posted in wrong area, sorry. But any apps out there?
~Webstar1
I suspect this thread will be moved, but I can offer some advice.
I mined out the AOSP apps from this Vibrant AOSPish JK2 v1.1 ROM:
http:// forum.xda-developers.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=9416951
I farted around with a few of them, but in the end just kept the Calendar, and Car Home. Contacts didn't seem to work (had a blue screen and just behaved oddly), Calculator didn't offer much. I prefer the AOSP Music app, but the MusicMod app from the Market is an improved version.
When I get a chance I would like to fiddle with getting the live wallpapers installed as well. Then I will proceed to never use them and eventually uninstall...
Since the phone is about a week old there aren't any roms just yet. I know this is being worked on by some awesome devs, but in the meantime we should talk about which processes and applications we can safely remove and replace to reduce blur's footprint. The goal is to try to get to stock 2.3.4.
From what I can tell, these things are blur:
Launcher
Widgets
Car Dock Mode
Keyboard
Messaging
Music Player
Status Bar
Calendar
Bedside Dock (Alarm Clock, so blue and ugly)
News (What happened to news and weather?)
Camera/Camcorder
Dialer/contacts suite
Unlock Screen
And then the Verizon bloatware:
blockbuster
amazon kindle
4 verizon wireless apps (Vcast)
DLNA
Citrix
GoToMeeting
Slacker Radio
Videosurf
Zumocast
CityID
IM
I'm sure I may have thought something was blur when it was stock, or visa versa. Please correct me, and I'll gladly update the list. I'm sure I may have missed or miscatagorized some of the bloatware, so please let me know if I messed that up too.
We should assume that the user has root for any replacement and removal methods.
If we can get the links to the stock apps which replace the blur apps all in one place, I think it would be great!
[edit] I've found the stock keyboard in another thread- someone please post it here as I cannot link.
Welcome, This Is My First Post, I Am Here To Share With You The Google Experience Launcher, It Has Being Released On The New Android 4.4, I Have Recently Installed It Onto My XOOM, And It Works Perfectly, No Need To Uninstall The Original Launcher.
First, make sure to enable the unknown apps by going into your device Settings > Security > and checking Unknown sources. From there download the updated Google Search and Google Home (linked below). From there, press the home button and select “Launcher” as your default homescreen — this is the new Google Experience Launcher. enjoy the new google experice launcher
because of me being new and I haven't got any posts I am unable to post links so what Ive done is added the links to a text document, sorry about this once I have the amount of posts needed I will added the links to the page. The document contains 2 links, one for the launcher and one for the new google search, both are working perfectly on the XOOM.

Search is available from the Play Store. Launcher worked great on my phone, but I needed to force close Trebuchet first. Thanks.
its working on my wingray, but it's a bit laggy, i'll stay on nova luncher.
After flasing to 4.4.2 (vzw LG G2) I cannot for the life of me get Google Search to work ('ok google') on my home screen. If I press the Google search widget, it opens up the Google Now search widget and then I have no problems with the 'ok google' feature.
Anyone know how to make that work on the home screen? Using Nova Launcher if that makes any difference.
Thanks,
Jeff
Found the answer via Nova's developer (the answer is no unfortunately):

Google Now integration, in the exact same way that Google does so, is not possible. This includes the swipe to the left for Google Now and the "Ok, Google" hotword. The Google Experience Launcher (GEL) is not a stand alone component, but actually a bundle of Google Search, Google Now, and GEL. With current APIs, it's not possible for Nova to access Google Now in the exact same way that the GEL does. However I am looking into ways to achieve similar functionality. Quick access to Google Now is already possible by swiping up from the home button (on devices with navigation bars), or by assigning a Nova Gesture to launch Google Now. Some users have suggested placing a full screen Google Now widget on the left most page. I'll be investigating further enhancements in this area, but it's important to note that the exact Google experience is not possible for non-Google apps.

Hope this might help someone else.
Thx.
I have an unlocked stock (not rooted but using Apex as default launcher) on Pie with Verizon as my provider.
Until the evening of January 25, 2022 everything worked fine. I noticed that any of my commonly used web shortcuts did not go to the page I was requesting. I got to playing with and noted that it was the same across all browsers.
<Update> I went through all of these steps with both the default and Apex launchers with the same results.
I spent hours researching and testing since then. Every way I have thought of to search for the answer brings up a plethora of answers to these three question:
1. How do I create a home screen shortcut to a web page?
2. Why do I not have the option to "Add to Home Screen" on my browser?
3. All of my home screen shortcuts disappeared.
I have sifted through literally hundreds of pages and the few that were loosely related had no answers. I have no issues going to the sites once I am in the browser but each browser acts just as if I had chosen the basic shortcut installed with it. If I clear all tabs it goes to the homepage when I pick one of my shortcuts.
These are the steps I have taken so far to no avail:
1. I tried it on existing shortcuts using Bromite (my default), Firefox, Samsung Internet, and Chrome.
2, I power cycled my device. I created new shortcuts with all 4 browsers giving the same results. I power cycled a second time and still no joy. (After each of the following I repeat this step so I will not type that at the end of each one.)
3, I disabled Chrome and Samsung internet and uninstalled the other 2. I then re-enabled the former and updated all 4 from the play store.
4. I disabled Chrome so WebView could handle the links and tested the remaining 3.
5. I have tried several launcher apps that support web pages and they have the same results.
6. I uninstalled everything that had updated since the problem and tried again.
7. I checked the permissions on all 4 browsers and opened them up to allow whatever they wanted.
8. I (foolishly) checked for system updates.
9. I reset all permissions and went through all off the steps again (except 8).
Apps that intrinsically talk to their own home page work fine.
The only thing I have not tried that I know of is wiping the phone and starting from scratch which I really do not want to do. If I do that I will likely install a custom ROM. Not sure which one would be best.
Since this is consistently affecting a behavior across all apps I believe it is OS level especially since some the apps and browsers have not updated recently.
Thanks in advance!

What am I missing???? Any suggestions for something the change or install would be greatly appreciated.
AFAIK Shortcuts are only visible in the Launcher in which you created them + that launcher needs to be set as the Default Launcher. Otherwise the shortcuts will be grayed out.
I use Microsoft Edge (yes, on Android lol) and it has "Add to phone" which puts a shortcut onto my Homescreen. Chrome definitely has such a feature too. The other ones you mentioned I'm sure too!
Also are your browsers up-to-date? Checked for updates in Play Store?
Edit: Oh I get you now. Yes, browser can redirect to the installed app. In Microsoft Edge this behavior can be disabled, so that you stay in the page...

Thanks for the reply.
Everything on my mobile is up to date.
I went through all of the steps separately for each browser on each launcher.
They all create the shortcuts without issue. The shortcuts launch the browsers. The issue is that they do not open the page that the shortcut was saved for. The action is identical to using each browser's primary icon.
