Hello all,
I am new to this site and I have an issue with my new HTC J One phone i ordered. T moblie and the android did a system update which made my original Samsung galaxy incompatible and unusable. I just got the new HTC J one from china and i cannot figure out how to insert my t moblie Sim card so that i can connect to the network... Also it is not accepting my SD card. Should i just buy a new SD that will work and can anyone help me through the Sim Card problem? I need a functional phone for work so this has been a very frustrating issue for me.
Thanks and hope to hear from someone soon,
Zenotha
Oh Dear Oh dear
The HTC One has an INTERNAL sd card you can't insert your own
The sim card works just like on an Iphone/Ipad you need ti use the clip it came with to open the sim carries - insert the sim into the carrier - then close it
PHONE OFF of course
Well, first of all, the J One is only sold in Japan and should only work on a specific carrier there - KDDI au. I don't know how you got one from China, double check to make sure it isn't a fake. Second, T-Mobile doesn't use standard international frequencies for 3G and 4G so you'd be stuck with a phone that can only work on 2G, unless you want to switch to AT&T. Third, if it's not accepting your SIM that means the phone is locked, so unless you're willing to learn Japanese, travel to Japan, subscribe to KDDI au and call them for an unlock code, you just bought an expensive brick.

hey guys, my friend bought me a diamond in canada which works on CDMA network, and where i live there is only GSM network...
is it possible to unlock it somehow?
if anyone knows please help me.
thanks.
Nope, not a snowball's chance in hell. CDMA phones don't use SIM cards, nor will they ever support the insertion of a SIM card, so it'd be useless on your network. Sorry.

You are partly wrong on this about not using SIM card at all. Yes, CDMA phone will never work on GSM unless, there's also a slot on the CDMA phone for SIM card, like some of those international phone sell by Verizon and sprint awhile ago. Now, there are some CDMA phone that are selling in China that actually use something similar to SIM card, called USIM. Hell, even the KDDI au from Japan use SIM card, and they are CDMA network too...
thank you guys that was helpfull
I NEED HELP ON THIS SIM Problem pls
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I sold my Tilt the new owner put several Sim card in the Tilt and it doesn't work. The phone worked great with my sim card from my Bold. Providing that he has not damage it what do you think is the problem. I also had the same problem with a Mot w600. When the woman returned it to me it work fine with my sim. I resold it and never the new own did not have a problem.
The person who bought the Tilt is a ATT customer. They are sending it back and i will test it with my SIm and put it up for sale. But why would it not work for thier SIM
ANYBODY

I have the same problem!
I have used my TyTN II with this SIM for 1.5 year and all be OK. When I sold it, any SIM other doesn't work.
But, my SIM seem to be recognized more slowly than normal.

make sure you are writing down the device id before you sell your devices online.
The buyer may still have the old cingular sim card, which may not work on all Tilts.
I am going to sell my HTC One and wanted to unlock it first so I bought an unlock code. The only non ATT sim I have is a verizon one but this is not making the phone ask for a sim card... Will a verizon sim card not trigger this? Do I need to use a GSM sim card?

Hello, I tried the new Note9 with Dual sims + Sd card simultaneously, both sims register and i can see the sd card registering in the notification section, but i get a popup which says Some problem with the sim tray please remove try and reinsert. I cant seem to bypass this. can anyone help ?
You cannot use a combination of two Sims and an SD card. You can use a single sim and an SD card or two sims and no SD card.
A bit of a stupid design but this is how I have known it since the note 8.
Unfortunately this dual sim set up is not available in US (at least when i pre-ordered mine). Would you know if it support CDMA?
For my history use, if I get the 512gb then I dont have to have a SD card. 512gb is enough (too much).
Thanks in advance!

That's good point. If I was a dual SIM user I'd definitely have bought the 512gb.

From what I've heard,Samsung has prevented this w/software.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/help/dual-sim-sd-card-problem-s9-t3830637
It worked in the past, but, sometime this year,Samsung put an end to using all three simultaneously.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77369298&postcount=7
I know exactly what you're talking about, I used two SIM Cards & an SD Card in a Honor View 10.
I used a $10 SIM extender, which fit right next to the SD Card in the 2nd slot.

Perhaps there'll be a work-around in the future, but,it's likely gonna be a solution that requires your device to be rooted.
I'm shifting from S7Edge to Note9, really wish there was a work around for this. Anyways for now I'm in 128gb and at the moment I have enough memory. Thanks guys.
It doesn't work for me too.. I was using my sim+sdcard combo on my axon 7 but when I put it in my note 9, it says check sim tray. Hope this gets a workaround.

Thank you for confirming, although it's not the news we wanted to hear, any doubt has now been removed. :good:
security
samsung has done some stuff to prevent this from happening altho if you root you can break the security
It just happened to me as well. I was using both of the sims and SD card with sim extender till my Note 8 and it was working fine but in Note 9 the annoying popup is not going anywhere. Any fix will be helpful to by pass this.
I have the same problem!
Hi friends. I live in Iran & here just note 8 is in the market in its 64gb model. I used 2 sims & sd card simultaneously until it told me there is an update. I did the update, it became Android 9, & brgan giving me the prompt that something's wrong with the tray. I did whatever that I thought might help, but it didn't help. Later ai heard that Android 9 doesn't allow simultaneous 2 sims & an sd card! I hope Samsung changes this. Their phones are becoming worse every day. Glass back which breaks & gets fingerprint marks, low capacity, and every time they ban something on their users! I wish I wasn't in love with Samsung!
Unfortunately Samsung has prevent dual Sim device owners from being able to use both SIMs and a microSDCard at the same time for some strange reason.
Samsung Note 9 in India comes with Dual Sim Dual Standby version & can use 2 - 4G VoLTE SIM cards simultaneously.
I have an Unlocked Samsung Note 9 from SPRINT , USA. This has a Single SIM Slot with a memory card expansion bay. The Exact Model No of the Sprint , USA's Samsung Note 9 is SM-N960U1.
What i want to know is that does this version have e-sim capability ? Does it has a second e-sim modeul & 2nd IMEI built in ?
Anyway to find out , maybe via an app or anything ?
Else, i can stuck with a single sim Note 9 if it does not.
Can anyone help on this... i cant seem to find any details on this specific model.

Go to phone pad, type in *#06#. This will bring up ALL your IMEI info. If you have 2 then it will show both...

Simple & Effective answer. Thanks so much. Its a Single SIM with one IMEI no only.
This means the SPRINT (USA) Samsung Note 9 has single sim with single IMEI so no e-sim support also.
thanks so much.
Hi,
Does anyone know if Android 10 will bring back the ability to have Dual Sim plus uSD card active simultaneously?
I really miss having the extra storage capability in my SM9600.

Very unlikely. Since Samsung has actively blocked it with software, whatever their reason may be, they don't have any real reason to unblock it.

Hi,
It is written in the post. Find services.jar, decompile it with a Java decompiler, make the shown changes, and push it back to where it was with like adb push command or file manager on the phone.
That, or find it in the ROM from Dr. Ketan or install that ROM.
That should give you enough pointers I hope.
Start trying and post if you really get stuck.
cheers
Hello,
I am willing to get the new Xperia 1 II. I am living abroad, and for many reasons, I kept my native country's sim to keep my line open. Currently, I own two phones to have both lines up. But this new Xperia seams to be released with a variant getting dual sim feature which is what I am looking for so I could replace my LG V20 and LG G8 for this amazing phone.
I read online that this phone comes with different variants:
XQ-AT51
XQ-AT52
XQ-AT72
SO-51A (NTT DoCoMo)
SOG01 (AU/Okinawa Cellular)
On this website https://www.xperiablog.net/2020/04/...eria-model-number-structure-for-2020-devices/ they tend to say that this XQ-AT52 model would be the dual sim variant, but I cannot find any online resources to confirm this.
Is there anybody who knows yet what is the dual sim variant so I don't get wrong while ordering?
(I really hope it's not only the korean version to get this dual sim variant...)
Thanks!
Hello,
I come back to you guys to have some updates about this topic since now they released the phone and preorders are available, maybe someone has some details about this feature.
I really want to know if the variant sold in Europe is supporting 2 sim.
On GSMArena, they list the phone as Hybrid Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) but on sony.de, sony.fr, sony.it they list it as SIM NUMBER
Single SIM.
On B&H bhphotovideo, the phone is proposed as Sony Xperia 1 II Dual-SIM 256GB Smartphone (Unlocked).
Why would they sell a dual sim capable in America and a single sim in Europe?

The model selling in Taiwan is XQ-AT52 with dual sim ( 5G/4G compatible ).
If you put 2 sims, it runs in 4G mode, 5G is only working when only one sim card inserted.
5G I only works with 1 SIM card inserted? That's not very good design.
Also, can you please try to switch between SIM card for data, does it require a reboot to active? I used to own Sony phones and they all require reboot when switching between SIMs, which is very inconvenience.
I use other brand dual SIM phone now and they don't require reboot when switching between SIM.

Do you know if the only difference between the single sim and duel sim variations are the sim tray provided with the phone and the software installed. I am wondering if I got a single sim version, if I could flash the international firmware and replace the tray with a dual sim version

Normally it should work as previously it was like that.
but the SIM holder looks different to Xperia 1 dual Version
You don't need to reboot to change or swap sim, that's what i heard and that's why you don't need a pin to open the tray.. you just need to pull it.
I guess the tray for single sim is different but software is different too.. means software can handle dual sim..
I know some people with Samsung single sim model, they put 1 sim in tray and stick the second sim on the microsd. It becomes a dual sim with micro sd.
But you have to be very good to unstick the sim from original card and stick on the microsd without damaging your sim
HI all
has anyone found a way to keep both the Sims running even when the 1st has 5G on.. Like let the 2nd sim run at 4G or 3G atleast.. but why does the 2nd sim has to be off or go off when the first one runs at 5G.
I keep wanting to use 5G at all times on my first sim.. but why should my 2nd SIM stay off. this is mind boggling why would SONY implement this on a Premium Flagship while others Like Xiaomi and others have better sim management options even when 5G
this is the only thing stopping me from getting this phone although i love it.
on a separate note.
Also someone has any idea if the Special Frosted edition of this phone releasing in Japan with 12GB RAM will be dual or single sim ?
