How to add shortcuts from the desktop onto the dock? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am using HTC Sense and I want to drag my own shortcut from the desktop onto the dock. But when I hold down the shortcut, the dock disappears. Is this possible?
I can't use the app drawer though because the shortcut I have on my desktop has a custom icon which I want to retain, that's different than the original app's icon.
Thanks.

Nope. Not on Sense. At least not on 4.1. I think if you are on a 4.2.2 sense rom, then it might be possible, but I'm not sure as I'm running a google edition rom.

Thanks I was told that it was possible because people said they are able to change the icons in the lockscreen.
How else can I do this? I use nova and my dock has different icons but the lockscreen dock still looks like sense, I mean for the icons.

They can change the apps, not the icons. Again, I'm not sure exactly how it works for 4.2.2 +. Sense will always use sense icons on the lockscreen.
What rom are you on?

Thanks probably 4.1? Actually I don't know how to check? Is 4.2 out? I haven't installed anything.
Also someone suggested using unicon, do you know this app? It's supposed to use the same icons everywhere but it says it requires root access. What's that even mean? I assume it will slow the phone down?

Btw. I'm on ViperROM and able to drag own Shortcuts to the Dock.
(Android 4.2.2)
But it could be a tweak from ViperRom (tons of 'em in the ROM)

As I said, I think so, but I'm not sure. It may just be a custom rom feature.

Thanks I checked for the update yesterday and it was there so did it today and lo and behold, it was working like you said. I was able to use icon changer app to create a custom shortcut and then place it onto the dock from the desktop directly.
Really like the new changes in this OS, awesome, thanks

Not sure what you are asking...there are tons and tons of themes in the market that you can try...what you linked to was a ROM just from looking at the topic title...can you elaborate on what you are asking?
Im looking for a zip update that changes the whole phone theme like the link that I posted. I don't like using home replacements. I hope this makes sense?

1. Are you rooted?
2. What ROM are you on currently?
3. Are you looking at staying on the current ROM but updating your theme?
If you don't mind me asking, why don't you like using home replacements?

It sucks because you could use ninjamorph or metamorph if you weren't on the aria...have you tried circle bat mod? You can't change everything but you can change quite a few things...

[Q] GingerDX v029 DeskClock

The ROM is really great and stable, but I just want to ask: can I remove that big ball, the one that when you click it changes the color, on the Clock system app? In case of 'yes', how can I do it?
I was using the GingerDX v025 and the Clock doens't have that.
Thanks.
That's a modded Desk Clock layout by AChep to match the ICS clock. Did you change apks by any chance?

No, I just flashed that new version 029 and the Clock is like that.
Do you know a way to get back to normal, I mean, without the mod to match the ICS clock?
Thanks.

I also have the same problem-it looks kind of ugly. However I am not sure if it is possible to get rid of the 'ball/oval', maybe you can try another clock app.
Although I don't like it either, it don't mind to much as I don't even use the app. Good luck anyway (even though my reply may not of helped much )
Does it happen with the ICS theme applied?

Also, I just thought of this, GDXv025 is also Gingerbread so what you could do is copy the apk of the GDXv025 clock app to the GDXv029 system/app folder.

[Q] few questions

Hi there :}
- Is there a way to keep the Sense 5 app drawer with the clock and weather top in Nova launcher?
- I would like to change the multitasking window to the stock one. Like it is in the GE editions where you swipe to the right to kill an app. Can I do that somehow?
Thanks for the replies!

1) Not possible.
2) Yes it's possible, just edit (with Notepad++) the default.xml file in /system/customize/ACC/default.xml. Inside the default.xml file search for:

true

Click to collapse
And:

true

It's about 412 and 430 lines and it's the "values" for the HTC recent apps style.
Change "true" to "false", save, replace the file and set the correct permissions, like the original file, reboot and you're good.
You can also do that directly from your phone with a file explorer (like Root Explorer), edit the same file, save then reboot and you're good. You'll have the stock Android recent apps style.
Make a Nandroid backup before, just in case.
Thank you very much I will do this today. Also I would like to use the AOSP lockscreen and the Analogue clock from the GE edition. I dont want to use hololocker. What is the best way to do these?

Re,
Sorry but for these... I don't know but I doubt it's possible (or at least with an app like Widgetlocker or something similar in the Playstore for the lockscreen).
Second solution is to use a custom rom that allows this -> dev section-> search in the OP for the different rom's... I'm sure I've seen some custom rom's with this option (Viper for example). It depends if you want keep a "stock-custom" rom with the closest look (with a tweak here and there, but it's "soft" or a rom with multiples tweaks...
Take a closely look on the rom in the dev section
Yeah, I installed Viper ROM today. I like it so far.

[REQUEST] Sense 5.0 Weather Live Wallpaper for Sense 6.0?

I use ARHD for my M7, and back on the Sense 5 track I used this nice live wallpaper that was only animated on weather change, and would otherwise display an attractive, simple weather-themed image. After updating to v62 on Sense 6, it's gone. My understanding is that HTC removed it and I was wondering if there's any way, short of going back to Sense 5, that I could get it back? It was my favorite wallpaper :/

Here is the link to the Sky Wallpaper he is talking about. I've just tried it. It doesn't seem to be able to use the current location (although I may be wrong) and I've only seen one animation but at least I have live weather background again.

Unfortunately it uses a different weather service than the weather clock, so they aren't synced up.
Has anyone else found a way to get the Sense 5.5 (or 5) live weather wallpaper into Sense 6?
Heyy !!
What's happening with HTC?? Why do SENSE 6 stole us our favorite live wallpaper ?? :crying: :crying: :crying:
Can anyone do something for us because there is, to my knowledge, unfortunately, none app similar to the qualitative level...!
It's the same for me,
since I have download the sense 6 update,
I've lost this wallpaper.

I agree, is there a way to dump it from a backup and install it?

Interesting the .apk won't install? I just removed it from my folder and installed it just fine. First make sure in settings>security>unknown sources is checked. If so try this:
Using File explorer
device>system>app
look for livewallpapers.apk move the file somewhere else for the time being. Then try to install the one I attached to this forum thread

That will not work because the original apk file name is HtcWeatherWallpaper.apk
Its under /system/priv-app folder but system requirements are Sense 5.0 and HTC SDK 5.XX.
If you on Sense 6.0 this apk file wont work you need couple of dependency files as well
somebody solve this issue with wallpapers ? I am fall in love with this beautiful wallpapers
