I noticed after upgrading to the X from my DINC2 running MIUI that my sound quality over Bluetooth in my car got way terrible. Did some research and found a thread over in the GNex forums about a fix for it, but it seems like it only works on the GNex (google 4.2.2 A2DP fix and it should be one of the top hits, can't post links yet ) ... besides I don't know how to adjust permissions of a file...
so... is anyone else experiencing this? or have a fix? I'm rooted, on ATT, running 4.2.2.
thanks!

I have the exact same problem. In fact, I also came from a Droid Incredible 2 as well. My Moto X is VZW stock. I'm getting lots of crackling/static. I was used to very good quality, but with the Moto X it is unusable. I actually posted a separate thread, didn't see this one at first... What brand/model of bluetooth receiver are you using?

I read as well that it seems to be a system-wide android thing, and while there seems to be a fix for Nexus devices I'm afraid to try them on the X...
I'm just trying to connect to my car, it's got bluetooth built into the stereo and the DINC2 was great with it but now all the mids sound crackly as hell..
I have the same issue as well, I filed a bug report with Motorola about the issue and posted on several moto employee's G+ pages and was told they are looking into it. I hope this means it is either fixed in the OTA rolling out currently or will be fixed in the next OTA.
I really hope this gets fixed. The sound is full of static

Hi all,
I upgraded from .2233 with a layover in .905... my first impressions are that the differences between 2233 and 246 are minor at best. All the problems I had before are still present from the previous ICS build and were functional in GB 905.
Problems:
1) Bluetooth audio is broken- I have a Nokia 360 bt speaker which worked perfect when streaming with GB on Bluetooth. However, both ICS builds are non-functional. Oddly the 246 wont even pair while the previous build did that but with no sound streaming.
2) That high pitch whine (in ear buds) is present when no music is playing (it goes on and off) -this was never present in the GB.
3) In-line mic controls don't work and they never worked before, even for GB but its darn annoying. The microphone doesn't work and the volume controls/center action button don't do anything beyond play pause (even though they are 3 buttons).
Its a nice ROM but its ridiculous that these small features are were never fixed.
any other issues you guys found?

How do I check without leaving the country?
That is odd -- I use BlueTooth all the time on 246 and it works perfectly. Not getting the whine problem with the headphone jack either. Maybe try a FDR?
I just started using 246, but I have been able to use my headphones and Bluetooth speakers without issue.
Edit: Headphones acting up now...

One thing I don't like about it is that you can't select between using 3g and 4g like you could before. I frequently set it for 3g to save on the battery life when 4g isn't necessary.
I also had a problem with it scanning my SD card for errors and it wouldn't read it so I had to put a different one in. The funny part is that the card works on other devices but stopped working on the bionic today. It's definitely an annoyance but something I can live with.
The performance is nice though. I do have more network issues now than I had on gingerbread but as far as how fast apps open and the screen slides, its much better.

You can switch between 4G and 3G, just not the same way as before. You need to do it through the programming menu. To do this, you dial *#*#4636#*#* then select phone information, then select CDMA auto (PRL) from the preferred network type menu for 3G, and LTE/CDMA/EvDo to go back to 4G. There are also a few apps on the market that automate that, such as one called LTE On/Off, which is for the Thunderbolt, but also works on the Bionic.
Thanks for the information. I have one other question. Is there anyway to get the desktop Firefox browser onto webtop like gingerbread had?

No clue, I've never dealt with webtop. Hopefully someone who has can tell you.
I haven't had any BT issues, but the headphone whine has been back with the ICS leaks, since 232, at least.
Ive yet to experience any whining
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2
Coming from 232, this isn't too different feeling. My phone is running smoother but that may also be due to wiping everything as well. The set up screens were a bit different and I liked it. I haven't used headphones yet so I'm not sure if the whine is still here but I'm assuming it will since, as far as I have heard, it's hardware.

You'll have to search for that. You may be right, but I try not to use one-click roots. I actually do in and perform the steps these utilities do so I know it's done right, and I learn something in the process. However, it is really easy to root either way so don't let that deter you from loading 246. :good:

Does anyone know of a fix or app that will disable vibration (and haptic feedback universally across the phone) when unlocking through active notifications?
I love the moto x, but the way it vibrates all the time really annoys me. Friggin hate how OEMs force that into the ROMs. Thanks for any help. You all rule.

Anyone have an idea?

There is no way to remove the vibration from active notification
Sent from my XT1058 using xda app-developers app
I had the phone when it first came out and the vibration used to drive me crazy. I will say I picked it up the other day and with the KITKAT update the vibration is now barely noticeable.
It really drives me nuts too. I loathe haptic response. It just makes a slick phone feel stupid.
I'm thinking there has to be some kind of app that will override system wide haptic control. I just am unaware of it. Does anyone know of an app like that? I am rooted.

I'm thinking more like modifying the apk to disable this. Haven't looked at it yet.

The problem for me is that it's a Republic Wireless Moto X and I don't believe the build for it has been released or is even in the wild. If it was, getting an altered version would be my top priority.
Coming from a rooted, unlocked, CM 10.2 running LG Optimus G, having something that can't be disabled is REALLY annoying.
Thanks for the comments. If anyone knows of an app or anything else related to this, I'd be super appreciative.

I hear ya....I have the RW one too. I've never had an un-rooted Android device before. Took me a while to figure out why there were ads on stuff! I never saw them before. LOL Hopefully we'll get a safe, easy, reversible root soon, and I get get ad-blocking and Titanium Backup back!

Root exist. JCase's works just fine, and exactly as described. While I haven't checked I'm pretty sure the same reverse unroot process works on it as well. Haven't checked though.
Hopefully Motorola fixes it themselves, but a nice custom stock rom would be really nice as well. Just needs to be RW specific as they have their wifi portion hard written into the system.

Thanks for that, bongostl!
First thing!
If you're running stock, go cut off the audio effects (at least the non-speaker ones). Holy crap that made my headphones sound crummy. Why would they ship with that stuff on by default?
Settings -> Sound -> Audio Effects and either setup a custom "Off" Wired Stereo profile, or cut all the audio effects off with the slider at the top!
I went to a concert last night, and I recorded some video, and on the first video I recorded, the audio was perfect, as always. However, on all the following videos, the second microphone which this phone uses for capturing the louder audio never turned on, so now all of my videos (except the first) are in mono (with only audio coming from the left speaker, and the audio quality sounds like ****, like every other phone.)
I have a Sprint HTC One, and it's 100% stock. When I got home, my phone died due to no battery (maybe it just needed a restart?) and now it's working fine. What gives? Has this ever happened to anybody? I hope it was just a random software glitch, that's what I'm assuming it was.

I imagine it probably was. The thing with software is sure the testers may test for everything they feel is necessary. But it is impossible to test for every scenario out there, so every once in a while a bug may slip through the cracks, usually its a minor nuisance but in any case yeah it was probably a minor bug with the camera software or something.
Hey just letting you know, you're not alone and it doesn't happen because of battery. I have same issue and some others reported in the international thread here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2660313
First video is always fine with stereo recording, subsequent videos only capture left channel audio. A reboot will allow you to record in stereo again, but just that one time.
If you can test and post there would be great because I feel a lot of people would be affected by this, they just didn't listen on a computer or through headphones yet.

I can confirm this. I just did an RUU and i recorded using the voice recorder and video recorder and both come out with only 1 channel being used and its the left one.

Thanks, it an annoying bug that no one seems to be complaining about too much. Probably because if you don't move the videos off the phone or listen through headphones, you won't notice.
Somehow we have to get the attention of HTC to fix during next update.
If you can post your examples in the international thread, there is a thread created over there, that would be good. My fear is that now the M8 is out attention will be there for HTC.

OK so I've had a nexus 6 since they came out but recently I went back to my moto x pure edition. Now I'm back to the nexus. The thing is I have a new truck. The moto x it's ok with the Bluetooth. A few things down work right but I can deal with it. This nexus however. Will only stream Pandora. You can't make or receive calls. I know Chevy has said it's on there end. So I'm wondering is anyone using a Rom that the Bluetooth integration is functional with the my link system. Not asking a best Rom just are there any that work with it and what are they. I'll be trying them myself but if some already know and can speed up my search I would be very greatful.
@pacman377,
I'm surprised to hear that it's a vehicle problem. My N6 (stock, July security update) connects via BT with no problem, to my '14 vette.
Mine stock rooted and bootloader unlocked and it doesn't work. I've done a lot of reading since I've been at work and a lot points to Marshmallow not working in a variety of different vehicles. The moto x was on 6.0.1 and it was ok. A few problems but it worked. Some say it has something to do with bt stacks others claim that Chevy knows there is a problem with Nexus devices on Android 6. I have heard one say the n preview worked so I'm going to see what happens with that first.
For what it's worth to those reading who might have some advice it's happening in a 14 Silverado ltz. It does work in my wife's 13 terrain and with the bt in the boat and my other truck.
I have a 2014 Silverado LT, and BT works flawlessly for me. As far as the phone function go's. I don't use Pandora, or other music streaming.

Ok thanks man I've tried the N preview and a few ROMs they work one time and don't the next. Not really a pattern to it. Moto had sent me a replacement and I guess the BT is shot on this one.
