Any Roms Bluetooth fully working with Chevys my link? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK so I've had a nexus 6 since they came out but recently I went back to my moto x pure edition. Now I'm back to the nexus. The thing is I have a new truck. The moto x it's ok with the Bluetooth. A few things down work right but I can deal with it. This nexus however. Will only stream Pandora. You can't make or receive calls. I know Chevy has said it's on there end. So I'm wondering is anyone using a Rom that the Bluetooth integration is functional with the my link system. Not asking a best Rom just are there any that work with it and what are they. I'll be trying them myself but if some already know and can speed up my search I would be very greatful.

@pacman377,
I'm surprised to hear that it's a vehicle problem. My N6 (stock, July security update) connects via BT with no problem, to my '14 vette.

Mine stock rooted and bootloader unlocked and it doesn't work. I've done a lot of reading since I've been at work and a lot points to Marshmallow not working in a variety of different vehicles. The moto x was on 6.0.1 and it was ok. A few problems but it worked. Some say it has something to do with bt stacks others claim that Chevy knows there is a problem with Nexus devices on Android 6. I have heard one say the n preview worked so I'm going to see what happens with that first.

For what it's worth to those reading who might have some advice it's happening in a 14 Silverado ltz. It does work in my wife's 13 terrain and with the bt in the boat and my other truck.

I have a 2014 Silverado LT, and BT works flawlessly for me. As far as the phone function go's. I don't use Pandora, or other music streaming.
It was all just an illusion

Ok thanks man I've tried the N preview and a few ROMs they work one time and don't the next. Not really a pattern to it. Moto had sent me a replacement and I guess the BT is shot on this one.

So bluetooth code is broken?

So from reading just about all the threads in the dev sections, it seems that Bluetooth is something that is inherently broken frome htc? This would explain alot of things...including why my awesome Bluetooth nyko controller doesn't work. lol. Anyone have any input on this matter? And i guess another thing i was curious about is the leaked 4.2 RUU that was posted in the dev section, does anyone know if the Bluetooth is fixed in that by chance? I know that the jump from 4.1.2 to 4.2 was a large improvement of Bluetooth for my nexus.
Bluetooth works just fine for me. Granted all I use it for is the headunit in my car.

Thats really weird. I always have problems trying to pair any bluetooth controller to the One. They all say they pair but never work in any apps :\
Bluetooth source is botched from HTC just for the Sprint variant. So on stock kernel you'll be fine but until fixed (which I'm working on) all custom kernels you won't be able to use bluetooth for calls. Streaming works fine.

Bluetooth pairing worked fine for me with my car, and I was able to import all my contacts to the car. Haven't actually used it for an in-phone call yet, but so far no issues. I also haven't rooted or run modded kernel/ROMs.
Bluetooth is only broken on custom kernels. I use viper rom and use Bluetooth all the time in the car for streaming and calls as well as at home with my desk headset from Plantronics.

This was my experience as well with my nexus s 4G on Sprint. I've had serious low volume issues with my HTC One when trying to connect with the factory bluetooth in my car (2004 330ci). I started a thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2266974 ) but have yet to receive any replies. Good luck!

Thanks for working on this! I love this phone aside from this, which is a serious inconvenience. When you say you're working on this, is it a custom rom or custom kernel that you're working on, or just the bluetooth problem specifically? My phone is currently stock, but I'll happily root it if you release a solution for this. Thanks again!
Bluetooth is so slowly for my cell phone.

[Q] A2DP Bluetooth Audio Quality

I noticed after upgrading to the X from my DINC2 running MIUI that my sound quality over Bluetooth in my car got way terrible. Did some research and found a thread over in the GNex forums about a fix for it, but it seems like it only works on the GNex (google 4.2.2 A2DP fix and it should be one of the top hits, can't post links yet ) ... besides I don't know how to adjust permissions of a file...
so... is anyone else experiencing this? or have a fix? I'm rooted, on ATT, running 4.2.2.
thanks!

I have the exact same problem. In fact, I also came from a Droid Incredible 2 as well. My Moto X is VZW stock. I'm getting lots of crackling/static. I was used to very good quality, but with the Moto X it is unusable. I actually posted a separate thread, didn't see this one at first... What brand/model of bluetooth receiver are you using?

I read as well that it seems to be a system-wide android thing, and while there seems to be a fix for Nexus devices I'm afraid to try them on the X...
I'm just trying to connect to my car, it's got bluetooth built into the stereo and the DINC2 was great with it but now all the mids sound crackly as hell..
I have the same issue as well, I filed a bug report with Motorola about the issue and posted on several moto employee's G+ pages and was told they are looking into it. I hope this means it is either fixed in the OTA rolling out currently or will be fixed in the next OTA.
I really hope this gets fixed. The sound is full of static

[Q] kit kat killed Activesync?

Sorry if this is a repeat.
I just got a Moto X on Verizon and the update to Kit Kat before I did anything. Now I can't get it to sync with my corporate email with the native email app or Touchdown. This all works fine on my GNEX with 4.2.2
Is this a known thing? Is there a work around or am I stuck waiting for Verizon to fix this?
The same happened for me. The 4.4.1 update fixed it for me just look in the nexus 5 forum and you should be able to find an exchange app that is updated(you'll prob need to be rooted)I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2531268 this and it works fine now for me. I went through auto setup and it hung up. but manual setup worked fine. Only had to change the server URL to make work. Hopefully this helps.

Thanks for the confirmation. I know I can search for this, but I'm traveling all this week with little time.
I'm new to the Moto X. I don't have the developer version. Could you point me to a thread/site for unlocking the bootloader and rooting the VZW Moto X?
Thanks.

Oh, and I'd prefer to stick with Touchdown if possible. Is there any way to get 4.4.1 or 4.4.2 without just waiting for VZW to push an update out?
Thanks.
Same problem here. Could someone post the fixed, installable, email and exchange files from 4.4.2? I'm not rooted. Thanks.
You guys are going to have to do a little leg work here. I posted a link. You can try to install it like a normal app not sure if it will work or not. Only other way is going to be to root. This is xda after all come here to root and hack your device

fair comment borex. I'm back from my trip and will spend some time finding the root methodolgy for my device. I didn't come expecting to be hand-held, but sometimes the root for a device is common and well known (like my previous GNEX). I've been around the block a few times. I had the original Siemens MDA

RESOLVED: Bluetooth Issue with pioneer Head unit

Here is my fix in case anyone runs into this issue:
On the pioneer website it says there Is no need to do a firmware update on may of their products unless you have an iphone 5 or ios6. I looked into what the update does and basically it brings the AVCRP standards of the head units up to 1.4. (the Galaxy Note 4 Variants use the latest AVCRP 1.5, which is not currently used by many devices.) I have never bothered with the update because i am a die hard android user. I decided to flash the update to my head unit and low and behold i have full controls again.
The only drawback is that to update your firmware is you need a Bluetooth compatible PC to flash. The flashing instructions on the pioneer website need some updating as there were some steps that weren't possible on a windows 8 PC. If you get stuck while flashing firmware to your deck, let me know and i will help guide you through it.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE YOU DO TO YOUR HEAD UNIT..... Just like flashing a phone there is some risk in flashing firmware to any device if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, either dont do it or send it in to pioneer and have them do it.
OP: I Just got my Note 4 as an upgrade to my Note 2 (i was dn3v5 4.4.2 KK on it) . I Just have one issue. When i connect Vial Bluetooth to my Pioneer head unit in my car it plays and sounds great and does everything my note 2 did. However when i play music I can not use the buttons on the deck to "Skip" forward or backwards to the next song in any music player. I can pause and play but no skip. I have tried it with the stock ROM as well as infamous 2.3 and rapture v2.1.
I have searched the forums as well as hours of Google searching and all i get back is sound quality issues or cars not connecting at all. I just cant understand why it would respond to some buttons but not all.
Is anyone else having this issue?
edit:the head unit i am running is a 2013 pioneer DEH-PRS80 it is BT 3.0 compliant.
This is Bluetooth 4.0. Contact pioneer and see if they offer a work around or an update.

apple earpods isn't working

Apple earpods mic is not wokring on my oneplus 3t...the problem is with the mic. They don't work on calls, where as they are working fine with other devices...im on oreo beta 17...Are there any fixes available? Please let me know...thanks in advance!!!

A good indicator is the fact they are specifically designed for apple iPhones. Those earphones are unique to a phone a person purchased. They aren't plug and play type accessories. You might get them to work as headphones, but if you seriously brought yourself a set of $100+ apple iphone earbuds thinking they'd work 100%. I hope you kept a receipt.

Also building on what he said, you're on the Open Beta 17, which will give issues.
Why in the name of all that is good and holy, would you buy the Airpods, when many reviewers say that it's audio is meh.

Guys, he didn't post "Airpods" (the Bluetooth ones), he posted "earpods" which are the regular wired headphones. I assume the OP has this from a former iPhone. I would expect in that case the buttons don't work properly, but the mic should work. At least that is what typically happens in the case of earpods + Android device. So the OP's question is a valid one.

There's no flashable zip for this kind of purpose, since the system compatibility is required to be changed from AOSP sources. It's just incompatibility between Android and an Apple accessory.

I am having same problem. Upgraded to Oreo yesterday and noticed that my iPhone Earpods aren't working and producing only static noise. Have a Sony wired headset which is working perfectly fine. As I read above posts, looks to be not just with OP 3T, it is Google Oreo as such, which is really bad and annoying. iPhone headphones have noise cancellation microphone feature which is not announced upfront. It helps a lot in taking important calls without surrounding noise. When someone produces a good product, should ensure compatibility and not go against it. Note, it was working till Nougat and not working only on Oreo. Very annoying. Google you are getting bad in terms of attitude, if the message about removal of support from Oreo, is right

Found a work around
My apple earpods dint work too after the Oreo update on my Oneplus 3T (Mic and play/pause controls not working). While i was going through this thread, i was trying to understand what might be causing this behavior. Surprisingly found a work around for this problem.
You need to insert the earpods 3.5mm plug into the mobile headphone jack to a level (except one last click) and hold it there for a second or two, where you can notice the 'headphone with mic' icon pops up on the status bar. Give it a second again and push that one last click in. The headphone, mic and controls, all of them worked as expected, everytime I did this procedure. I've tested it tens of times before posting it here. This trick might work with android Oreo phones other than Oneplus 3T too but i have not checked. Plz do post it here if somebody gets to find out if this trick works for other phones as well.

Pretty sure he was asking whether it's Oreo overall (changes made by Google - regardless of the specific device) that broke the Earpod functionality; or something specifically done by OnePlus in the Oreo update.
