Hi
My volume button in my default camera app just play the shutter button role. I want to know that can I use it zooming in camera ??
In other apps like camera pro or camera 360 it does the zoom function but I want to have it in the default camera app.

I'm new to the nexus s coming from the evo 4g and on the evo I could remap my volume keys to work as my camera shutter. I was just curious if you could so this on the nexus?

On cm7 based roms yes.
Follow the leader @corythug
So no one knows if there is a way to modify the key layout ?

The Camera Zoom FX app in the market allows you to configure the volume keys as the shutter.

oh well seems like you guys beat me to it
those are the best and easiest choices, and very easy to use too
I wonder if anyone have moded the stock ICS camera app to use the power/volume button as shooting button. I remembered that people from SII had already done so.
Hey guys,
I'm wondering what camera you guys use and which one has the best quality?
I'm flashing back to stock 2.3.6 btw.
If you're flashing stock, stock camera is the best!

I tried that after u recommended it once...it is almost like cm camera except maybe for that panorama mode ..it lacks some important things like adjusting contrast which is needed for a poor camera like our sga's.....

I advice to try HDR camera. It is the best to make picture of steady things... If you pay money for it, you can make pictures with truly amazing colors... It has a free version with very few ads.
Camera 360 is good too. It's free and it's got lots of different effects/functions. Or perhaps Camera FV-5 if you're more into fiddling with settings.
I used ZOOM FX before I flashed to CM7. Stock camera is good, but cant be used when the battery is low.
Amigo
The stock is the best Flashlight option is not working in video mode in CM.

U also hav the option of not editing it. Yess. But picsay is just an editor.not a camera.
Zoom FX is nice, I find Instagrm to be overhyped.
I use ZoomFX. There is almost no difference in image quality between the cm7, stock or ZoomFX camera apps, but ZoomFX has more options to play with and there's also the advantage of being able to use it even if the battery is low.
Stock camera is the best! I'm missing it but CyanogenMod is more customiseable!

This is one of the most retarded things I've heard... app won't give you autofocus, because it lays down in hardware, not software...

I was confused when I'm using miui camera for the first time!
There's an autofocus option, but I'm pretty sure that Galaxy Mini camera doesn't have autofocus.
But not so long after, I make a conclusion: Galaxy Mini really doesn't have autofocus. It's just the miui camera which is made with that option so if the camera have autofocus, it will do, but if not, it will change nothing.
Doesn't you realize that whether you tick on the autofocus on or off, there's no different results?
It don't! If u want it anyway just use Camera360 Ultimate. It also have ISO setting
Edit : it have touch focus instead of autofocus

how app can give you a feature that is controlled by hardware?
What can I do to speed up the camera launch speed. It takes around 5 seconds to launch which is terrible. And please don't suggest I use a 3rd party app.

Sad to say but theres nothing you can do to fix that,,,,
But there is another way to capture photos fast by just clicking the volume down button even if the acree is turned off. , goto the android development section and look for the tiopic called, ( camera mod fast capture enable)

Or just try to update last firmware. There this problem is solved.

There is currently no fix for this issue, but I'm sure future updates will fix it.
BUT: There is a mod in the mod section that allows you to quickly capture images with volume up

I'm not running the latest firmware and and I'm not sure if the mod will work. A lot if people are reporting the camera app disappearing and that's a risk I'm not willing to take. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Just prompted an update now. Hopefully that's the one.
Can I update with a custom recovery using pc companion? I'm also rooted.

Update: received an update and the camera is much faster at launching now. Not the fastest but definitely an improvement.
However, I lost root and my custom recovery. Oh well. The sacrifice was worth it.

If you use a launcher like Nova you could use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40084488. It gives a bit faster startup, but only in Superior auto.

I've also realised that the update made my navigation and status bar black by default. =D

FX Camera and Camera Zoom FX are different apps...
The Focal Beta does look quite good as well, can't say anything about picture quality yet.
It can be downloaded directly from the playstore!
Perfectly Clear works perfect .
Fotor, once my favourite, crashes on Z1.
Depends on preferences:
Camera FV-5 is pretty advanced and nice
Focal has good potential and looks nice
Procam is working fine...
Wish SuperCamera was working properly, older version does start but the settings don't seem to always do much...
