I get one Samsung GT-P7300 when I insert SIM card inside I get 3G networks
and everything is OK.
But I can't make or receive Voice calls.
Is there chance to install something or change my ROM to push My Tablet to make normal voice calls, as we can with Galaxy 7(P1000)
Thanks in advanced
from reading a ton of posts in this forum, my impression is that nobody managed to do that so far.
You could always use GrooVe IP with google voice.
At the moment don't believe it can be done. However, you have options such as Viber and others that can do some sort of call.

Is there any possibilities in future that ICS may be able to have gsm phone function?
It may depend on if P7300 has gsm voice build-in hardware...
Anybody try to disect the phone apk from galaxy tab 7 and see whats what
I really don't see the need for voice calls on a tablet? Only situation I could think of is in the car when using it as a navigation system?

Some of us would like to double our tab as a phone. I'm still trying to find a tab that has calling capabilities.

How about hardware capability?
there is chance to do that? I mean, maybe someone can confirmed that built in modem has a capability for gsm calls?

I believe the hardware is capable of making voice calls because the early test units had this capability. Of course they did have a sdcard also, so it is possible that the radio hardware was also changed. But I believe it's disabled in baseband or our baseband is just missing this functionality.
And i also have a question, are GT8.9 and GT10.1 using the same radio hardware? I believe i have read somewhere that they do, but i can't find this information anymore. If they are, then we could try P7500 KK4 baseband as it is reported that it has made voice calls.
Phone calls
Hey poisike,
I've tried the latest version of your ICS Alpha 1 release for the 3G Tablet, and in fact, i can :
Receive SMS
Send SMS (with a warning "not sent" as you mentionned)
Receive phone calls (with or without headset... it's working)
I can't make phone calls so far. It says "call ended" as soon as I hit the green handset button.
Not sure if it helps the author of this thread, because going to Alpha releases for someone you want to stay in contact might not be a good idea. But i wanted to let Poisike know that his last release was on the right track !
@Poisike : Sorry, i'm new to this forum, so i can't post yet in Android Dev threads
Wow, it's a very good news that ICS Alpha 1 release for the GT8.9 3G version can receive phone calls over GSM. It may mean that make a phone call is doable.
can you share the link of ICS alpha where incoming calls work?

This one :

Also just to be clear, it's an Alpha release... So you may have the incoming phone call working, but then be disapointed because Camera is not working or something else.

Good find, thanks! I actually tried it when i built the rom and it didn't work. It is not a priority for me at the moment, so i didn't test it more. Now i realised i had a wrong sim card in so i called the wrong number.
I installed the ROM but nothing not receive calls ... please help ...
I have also done so reset date. no. By calling the number to be fast busy ...
For the rest there are always the same video problems in the rotation. Wifi and 3G are OK. Opening speed OK. I miss GSM calls ... this ROM would be just the TOP with the GSM CALLS!

Are you sure your SIM card can receive call or is it a data only subscription that you have ? Because i can't receive call on my Data only SIM card... only if I put my GSM SIM from my phone
here is how I set it up.
I've the ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.6.
-Reboot in recovery
-Wipe menu, wipe all data
-Install Rom from zip + wipe
-Install GoogleApps from zip
Nothing I have followed your instructions. My gtab 8.9 has the following characteristics:
Recovery v.5.1.2.6-CWM (I do not think is a problem to run wipe and install with this version)
I put sim in the phone and then work is also enabled with calls.
Give me a hand please ...
Hi, having SMS issue with my SGS on Remics-JB 3.0.1 - I receive no SMS. When I put SIM in another phone SMS are finally received. Sending SMS is OK, i can send messages and they are delivered to addressee so it is not problem with SMSC. Only no SMS are delivered to my SGS although I test sending from web or another phone. I had this issue with all ICS and JB roms I tested, sometimes after flash it was all right and problem started later and sometimes the issue appeared right after flash. Got back GB and it was fine but now I tested JB again and the issue is still here, although I did all wipes and clears before and after flash, had made no restore via TB or Go backup. I am getting really anoyed from this, tried another SMS app and no result. Could you advise me what will help, I had an idea to try another modem but dont know which

I think so, in phone menu it is displayed, cant compare it now with box cause I am not at home. Flashing GB or Froyo resolves it and phone calls, logging in mobile network is OK.
Edit: Mean on ICS/JB phone calls and mobile network works, SMS sending works, SMS receiving NOT work.
On older android works everything.

its odd, looks like you have something installed to block out sms reception like this maybe ...which I doubt
IMEI does match with the one on the box. I use Root call blocker pro (some older version), SMS blocking is off but will try delete it and test if there isnt some bug, after that I will let know. Although it is essential app for me because of my work Dont know about another one like that which is function and reliable

So.. deleted Root call blocker pro, wiped cache, dalvik, fixed permission and.. OK It was some incompatibility of older version with JB.
Do you know some other call blocking app, which is reliable and blocks calls before phone start to ring? So caller wont hear ringing tone but "not aviable" or "busy" tone?

good you found the culprit, not too sure about other apps, but google is your best friend and helper, try it and you might get something that suits you
I rooted my Xperia Z using Doomlords method below of reverting to earlier kernel, using exploit and then flashing back up to use an exploit.

Ever since, I can't make calls sometimes. I can make calls for a while and then nobody can call me and I can't call anybody but I can send/receive text messages.
I have no idea what could be causing this. I'm downloading a stock rom now and might flash that if nobody here has any ideas.
Ok, went back to unrooted Sony and updated to latest Sony update.
Can't make calls at all now. Anybody any ideas. LCan still text and use internet. Phone attempts to dial then just ends call before it even starts dialing.
Person I dial has no missed call.
Have you tried a different sim card or tried putting your sim in another phone to rule out problems with it?

I tried another SIM and it did not work despite the phone being unlocked but I couldn't do anything with the other SIM.
I have another SIM I can try later today that I know worked in this phone when I got it first.
I really need to get this going as soon as possible, a few important calls to make
Thanks for your reply!
Ok, I have other SIM in now and have 3 bars coverage but can't make calls. I get error in status bar, no service, network unavailable but phone is unlocked. This is a different operator to other SIM. Connection problem or invalid MMI code appears if I attempt to dial USSD code to see credit balance.
Hi, I just unrooted my phone with ODIN back to 4.4.2. My phone is does everything but receive phone calls. I can text, surf, and make calls to people but the phone does not ring or wake up for a phone call to me. I am lost to say the least on what to do here. Thanks
btw, I can't do a software update either. I thought 4.4.2 was out of date. AT&T note 3 here.
PS: When I'm in the middle of a call....Call waiting WILL SHOW that someone is calling..weird!

Not sure what APN is? I feel like I should, but then again....
Fixed ISSUE! I was able to fix the issue by downloading the 4.4.4 Kitkat onto my sdcard and then booting into recovery mode and updating my note 3 that way. Somehow it is reading the SIM again and I'm getting calls. Lets hope this is a long with standing fix. NOW....how do I root again? Thanks guys

I bought this Note 8 (SM-N950F) in Amazon.
Sometimes when people call me I dont receive the calls nor notifications...they go directly to voicemail.
I'm in US using the same T-Mobile SIM that I've used with my two previous phones (they worked perfectly).
I'm aware that this is not a US model but I'm able to make calls and receive many calls, I can use 4G too with no conectivity issue.
But sometimes I dont receive calls and that worries me because that'd be a big deal in case of an emergency :/
I've searched on the web but have found no solutions. I will really appreciate your help guys

I still have the same problem. Have you found something?
I'm able to make calls any time, and receives calls sometimes...but I recently noticed that when I'm not receiving calls, I just make a call and instantly I'm able to receive calls...so, I'm pretty sure it has to do with the phone app going to sleep.

I went to TMobile and I got a new SIM too....still the same issue. But let me know if it works for you anyways.
Like I said, I'm sure that what's causing the issue, is the "phone" app simply hibernating, but I don't know specifically what's the name.
If anyone here could let me know what's the name of the app that controls the cellular activity, would be great
