I have rooted and installed dmod v6, killjoy & crossbreeder. (and many apps, droidwall, auto lux, market unlocker, etc). I am having a couple problems.
1/ Long press home button causes freeze everytime. I feel the vibe and screen freezes. Have to reboot by holding power button.
2/ Crossbreeder is not blocking ads - everything else is okay (dns, entropy)
3/ Battery life is only lasting 1 day. Many people using dmod are claiming 2 days intensive use. (not really a major issue - but seeing as i'm already making a thread...)
Any help would be appreciated thanks.
I've already learnt alot by browsing these forums.
Thanks everyone!

Thanks for the facepalm (albeit implied) - first one ever.
Killjoy & Crossbreeder can be installed side by side. Many people mention it in various threads, including the dmod one. As long as entropy is disabled in killjoy which it is by default.
I've tried uninstalling killjoy. and crossbreeder. still getting freeze on home button long press. and still unsure by crossbreeder is not adblocking (either with or without killjoy installed)
sorry if i'm being ridiculous. gotta start learning sometime.
btw efaustino84 what is your long press patch in your work?

Which KJ are you using and which one did you flash first?
The lastest KJ doesnt work with crossbreeder anymore, thats what they say but it actually does work

only got this phone a week ago so all latest (KJ 09-05-2013_official & Crossbreeder 7.2.13) - I originally I flashed kj first. Have now uninstalled both. Long home press still causes freeze.
did all the tests/verification for KJ & Crossbreeder and everything was working fine at first apart from the adblock problem. then after a few days this freezing issue started.

Try flashing crossbreeder first then KJ but you must then use entropy from KJ, Adblock and dns tweaks will also work

thanks toast. did that and adblock (& other tweaks) working now - on start-up the message "android is upgrading - starting apps" appears reboot for a 5-10 sec.
long hold home button still reproduces freeze everytime tho. what might be causing that?

Hmm not sure, S Voice? Does it happen all the time or after you opened bunch of apps? Does it happen with or without the tweaks? If its with the tweaks then try flashing RC6 instead,

happens everytime without fail, not just after i've opened apps. don't use svoice either.
i dont think its related to the tweaks. when i first installed them there was no problem initially. the problem was still there after uninstall and now after reinstall.

didn't fix. reading some old posts in the dmod thread - seems to be related to the rom, one other user reported the same issue - someone suggested it was due to the secure plugin for tasker.
For anyone reading this with the same issue. I found a fix for the long home press causing a freeze on dmod v6.
Install tweakboxhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629653
In tweakbox, If you go to 'Misc.." and change the "Long HOME key behaviour" to "Show classical recent apps list (icons only)" and reboot.
Seems the problem has something to do with the thumbnails in the recent apps list.
I would post this in the Dmod thread but need 10 posts to be able.

Finally, awaiting few moments for more stable CM71 SelfKang by Ricardo "arcee" Cerqueira, I decided to upgrade my OB with CM7.1 SelfKang 7-2, after read a major known issues were fixed.
Known issues
Wireless Tethering is broken - Fixed in SK7
A2DP (Bluetooth Stereo Audio) is broken - Fixed in SK6
GPS won't lock on any satellites - Fixed in SK3
HD Recording has low framerates

I'm not using my OB to record video (yet), so I ignored the last known issues and flashing it... Here my review with CyanogenMod (only first day using it).
Flashing CM7.1 SK7-2, add google-apps 20110613 Universal. (remove knzo kernel v0.1-beta).
CPU Governor set to InteractiveX.
Installed new app: AdFree, AntTek App Manager, Asphalt 5, BetterBatteryStatus, CPU Master, File Expert, Fruit Slice, LanDroid, Quadrant Standard, ROM Manager, Skype, Smart Keyboard, SMS Backup and Restore, SystemPanel App, UberSocial Twitter, WhatsApp, and XDA Apps.
System is stable for my "major" daily usage: Call, SMS, WhatsApp, UberTwitter, Browser, and JotaTextEditor.
Smooth enough for playing game Asphalt 5 and Fruit Slice.
Camera works perfectly front/back. Not trying the video recording yet.
Highest Quadrant Score: 2344 (with knzo kernel).
+Add gabwerkz tweaks but I had no effect yet, Highest Quadrant Score: 2485 (with stock CM71).
Longest day alive from 100% battery to dead: 1d 5h 38m 5s.
My issues: (with original kernel CM71-SK7-2)
Date and time settings can't set Automatic (network-provided values). With Stock/Nova8 it's normal.
Changing theme with Theme Chooser, from System to Cyanbread, I lost Google Account, and had to set again.
Gallery sometimes look hang on loading for a long time without showing images.
Skype still doesn't work with front/back camera, even with Skype custom build from theos0o. +I think it happen with most Android that not verified to work yet with Skype.
Select "Use only 2G networks" but indicator still shows 3G. I think it still issues for the indicator. Also when I return from "dead-condition", power on, the settings was gone ("Use only 2G networks" not selected) it doesn't happen with Stock/Nova8.
Before connecting Wifi, first it must set to channel 13. (I don't know if this CM issues or my AP, but I never set channel on Stock/Nova ROM).
There are high process with AlarmManager (see screenshots). It raise up to 8.3% (WTH is that?!). Checked with BetterBatteryStats and BatteryHistory.
+Install "Blue Theme for CyanogenMod" and change it via Theme Chooser, makes few application hang, and then ADW Launcher hang. Reboot, and got bootloop.
Issues with knzo kernel:
Long booting time, delayed almost 1+ minutes.
Front Camera problem: reversed up-down. Back Camera normal. Taking picture normal.
Trying the known issues: Change mode to video, it crash, Activity Camera (in application Camera) is not responding, force-closed. When open it again, Camera error: cannot connect to camera. So I can't use camera, rebooting device to solved the case. Here's the log. But it does work with original kernel of CM71.
Vibration doesn't work. But it works with original kernel CM7.

Question:
What is Alarm Manager (Android System)? As far as I know, that caused battery drain.
I only have Quadrant Score max 2344 a few times test, how can others have up to 3000+?
Okay for now, another information will posted later.
This is my personal review, so how about yours?
Perhaps you can also share your review here...
Thanks.
Great review, Redy. (I think most people are posting their stuff in Rootzwiki. Personally I'm posting there about CM7.)
I'd like to ask you something. I've asked around five times already, in different posts in both forums, and even sent personal messages, if people are having issues with the built-in FM radio receiver, but so far I've got zero replies.
I can't receive FM radio (non-streaming, but real radio). Can you do me a favour? Would you be so kind as to tell me if you can tune and hear to FM radio? (I've installed Spirit FM Radio applett for this purpose.)
Thanks in advance.
[EDIT] Oh, another one thing: don't you get an incredibly long boot delay with knzo's v1-beta kernel? I uninstalled it because of that.
That front camera is a Knzo kernel issue. I hope the review, showing it to the developer would be a stock one. As some issues may arise with a modified kernel that can confuse, ie: Video FC, FFC, Date and Time, etc. that even if you can take a log, Dev can't use it cause you have a different kernel.
So it should be CM7.1 SK7 with Knzo Kernel.
Great review mate.

Don't you have problem with ringing sound when receiving call ?
Camera 360 shows: "Camera error: cannot connect to camera"... rebooted, but error still exist.....

but have u faced any problem with vibration after apply knzo kernel?

To return to stock SK7-2 after flash knzo kernel.
Regards.
I want to add, choppy scrolling in settings menu with custom theme enabled, for example meizu transparent. It has semi transparent black background in some menu, everytime that semi transparent menu loads; choppy.
I'm using go launcher ex, with transparent app drawer enabled, scrolling is smooth, not perfect but smoother than CM7 default.
I installed the same cm7 theme on nexus s, no prob.. very smooth.

I tried the app, and it seems doesn't have audio out. Sometimes the program said like "Sorry, FM chip not found". But after close and open again, it doesn't show error like that.
And yes the "long boot delay" does happen with knzo's kernel. Updated that issues at first post.

You're welcome. I have catch the log, but didn't upload it yet. I might think that if the stock FM radio can be installed, but just by copy it and set permission doesn't work. Hi I want to add another thing. When I apply another theme with theme chooser, it stays "ghosts" of previous image (example : battery shows number 100 and then it goes to 99, you will have 99 in front of a 100 less blank but here). With SelfKANG4 it doesn't happen. But I'm not sure my explanation is good. If I can I'll upload screenshot.

So, now MIUI PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there a trick to connect the phone with CM to LG PC Suite? Mine does not recognise the device and I would really like to restore all my contacts and stuff.
Also, did you notice any increase in the battery drain time? Mine (with stock CM kernel, not knzo`s) seems to eat up the battery much faster than before.
isn't it enough that we already had 3 forums to discuss CM7 (2 here and 1 on rootzwiki), did we really need a 4th?
Wifi will never work on this ROM, because hero and buzz have different wifi chipset. If anyone can get a ICS rom with the BCM Wifi chipset ported I can get wifi to work.
I have not got a full fix for the synaptics softkeys yet, flash the softkey mod if you have a synaptics screen or your softkeys do not work.
SuperUser is included, but it fc's, you need to flash the 3.0.7 efgh zip file from http://androidsu.com/superuser
v4 Download Link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13729847/ICS2.zip
Wifi will not work on this ROM
[v4]Partially fixed synaptics touchscreen driver, only softkeys do not work with this ROM and that screen. You need to use the softkeys mod posted below if you want fully functioning softkeys.
[v4]Added IDC file for synaptics touchscreen, should work, if not, I have another one.
[v4]Added superuser binary and app - force closes so you need to download the zip and flash it at the link on the top of this page.
[v3]Switched to full package update, if you are coming from another rom, wipe data, if you are upgrading this rom, just flash.
[v3]Added SuperUser App due to request, seems to be not working, still need to flash the above file.
[v2]Data/3G works, calling does too, and so does texting, not sure about mic so can somebody test from the other end of the call?
[v2]Fixed build.prop with CM7 and original merge so now it picks up your network.
[v2]Swapped existing libhtc_ril.so with the one for the wildfire
[v1]Got touchscreen working and softkeys, but home softkey does not work, not so important though, back, menu and search work.
[v1]Using InfinityPLAY+ kernel with atmel.c hack to enable touchscreen, sources on my github. It says #14 for version number but it is only #10 with tweaks compiled an extra 4 times for testing.
What works:
Touchscreen, this thread helped alot with it, just had to swap and switch a bit with the code because of differences between the MSM8X60 and the MSM722X boards.
What does not work:
Bluetooth, WiFi, some other stuff.
This is just a ROM to play with, arco will bring us the real ICS.
THERE IS NO BOOT.IMG, I USE A ZIMAGE INSTEAD!
PERFORM A NANDROID BEFORE FLASHING, THIS ROM IS EXPERIMENTAL!
I will not be held responsible for ANYTHING, thats right, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE for any damage done to your device.
Wipe data first, otherwise it will fc on com.android.phone.

Media files not seen (SD card seenn, storage seen, but no medias on music app or gallery)
No sound
can you add root permission?
JuFlashed, runs succesfully with a MTD. Runs great with no proper ARMv6 intergration and such. Software GL possibly needs work as gallery doesnt load images (guessing thats related). Camera force closes to me, googles worked on hiding the developer side to android with much nicer messages "Camera has sadly closed unexpecetly" compared to "Camera has force closed". Will be waiting for a update to your rom or arcos. You forgot to include market too. Havent attempted to flash gapps yet!
Basically, Its great. Just needs a few fixes for Wi-Fi and Data. Then I'll be using this as a daily driver. You dont need to resize anything. Just possibly some font smoothing here and there.
Off-Topic: If you're buying a xperia play on three. Check out some of their data and text offers! (15 Pounds a month. 3000 Texts. 300 Minuites. Unlimited Internet.) Its what I use with my Wildfire and does exactly what it does on the tin! Plus I get decent speeds for the bad 3G coverage

Agreed with the others, runs pretty smooth, just I noticed the keyboard is too big and is cut off so you can't really type properly, and there's a weird orange border that pops up every now and again when I do certain setting tasks...I noticed this using the ARMv7 build on the emulator so I don't think that's device specific. Plus loading the gallery, at first the images show but if you open one it goes black or a coloured square...pinch to zoom works though!
The home key doesn't work as it should but it does do something: when you press it it acts as if you've moved the trackball and highlights the first on-screen object.
Also due to the radio issue it shows CDMA mobile settings despite the fact I've got a GSM version...and setting a different timezone (GMT+2) doesnt work.
Otherwise great stuff!
Lookig forward to updates!

I've noticed this on some dev builds of android as well as Android-x86. It could be related to the touchscreen driver, or a general graphic bug. I think it could be disabled somehow though.

This App will help you enable the on-screen SoftKey (like the one present on Nexus devices) easily. Please make sure that you have a Rooted device. Navigating via SoftKey is easier than using hardware buttons specially with the big screen devices (e.g. Note 2). Also this app can be used with your phone if you somehow damaged your phone hardware keys. It is compatible with stock and custom ROMs (like CyanogenMod, AOKP etc). Please note that some stock launcher may seem a bit odd as they were not designed to go nicely with the on-screen button layout. To fix this issue use any other launcher available on Play Store.
There are two versions of SoftKey Enabler - One is absolutely free (with ads) and other is paid (Pro Version). The only difference between two versions is Ads.
Requirements :
- Android 4.0 +
- Root
- Busybox should be installed
Tested Working On :
- Galaxy S3
- Galaxy Note 2
- HTC One X
Apart from the tested devices, it should be able to run on any rooted device running on Android 4.0+.
If you have any feature request, suggestions or bug report then please drop a mail to [email protected]. We will try our best to resolve any issue or add add new feature.

Because this app just activates native android keys which are hidden by default if you have hard keys on your phone. And this feature is only available from 4.0 onwards
downloaded free app. work perfectly on my galaxy mini II running CM10
Love this! Is there any way to remap the keys? I always wanted that left one to be a search function. Running an S3 on Verizon if that helps
Thanks for trying it out

Thanks for trying. Actually the App uses native Android methods and wanted to keep it as simple as clicking on a button. A lot of people wanted to have the stock experience. But I will look into this and will surely update if it can be done keeping everything simple
Hi,
I tried the free version but it didn't actually work for me (somehow I thought I'd see an extra bar of keys on my HTC One S but apparently it just places them on my current soft keys pad, which is OK but not exactly what I was looking for). Anyways, after I installed it I clicked on "reboot" but it didn't reboot my device so I did it myself. After a reboot, I realized this was not what I was looking for so I got into the application and disabled it. Again, it asked for a reboot but I had to do it manually once again. After this reboot I proceeded to unistall the application.
Now, the problem is, somehow, I completely lost the 3 vertical dots on Google Play (the ones on the upper right). How is this possible and even more important, how do I get this button back? I can't see my installed applications anymore or change Google Play settings. Please help. Thanks.
[EDIT] Ok, I found an article about this http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2012/01/say-goodbye-to-menu-button.html?m=1 maybe your application changes something in the system and it's permanent, even after the user uninstalls it?
[EDIT 2] Ok, I installed your application again from Google Play, enabled it, rebooted manually and the menu button is there again. I went to Google Play and uninstalled it from there, rebooted and the button is still there, problem solved. You may probably want to give this a closer look because it isn't working properly on HTC One S devices under ICS 4.0.3. Have a nice day!

Could you please let me know if you have Root and busybox installed as described in the App description ? The App automatically creates a backup of the previous settings so if you want to bring back the previous configuration then you can try the "Restore" option from the menu.
To enable softkey the App modifies some system configuration so uninstalling the App is not a solution. Rather I would recommend the "Restore" option. Further OEMs do alter some system files so it is difficult to predict each system behavior.
Thanks for letting us know. Also check your SD Card and there should be a folder named "SoftKey Enabler". There you can find your backup file.
[EDIT] If you can post a screenshot then it would be helpful.

Yes, my device is rooted and Busybox is installed. Since I already uninstalled it I think a second installation won't actually restore my system because the application makes an automatic backup when it's started (I actually tried it and it was exactly how I expected). In any case, the problem is solved by enabling and then unistalling from Google Play or Settings. I hope this didn't change other parts of my system, I guess time will tell (I see it modifies the build.prop).
Thanks.

For those of you who don't know, Safe Mode is similar to what you find on a Windows computer. If your phone seems to have some sort of Malware, Virus or even an annoying bootloop then you can put the phone in Safe Mode to remove the app that you suspect is causing havoc. Its a great tool for anyone with major software issues.
HOW TO GET INTO SAFE MODE: Press and hold the POWER button then you will see 3 options (technically 5 but who's counting). Press and hold POWER OFF until the Safe Mode option pops up and your phone will reboot in Safe Mode. Once in Safe Mode you will see a water mark that indicates that you've successfully done it correctly.

Hey, this is very interesting. As Nexus users, I trust most of us shouldn't need to use it due to recent nandroid backups we should all be keeping, familiarity with adb we should all have, acute awareness of sketchy looking apps we should all possess, and the end-all fix of factory image installation readily available.
But still, this is interesting. I booted up in to it to experiment. I tried launching Pandora and it worked at first. It got to the splash screen and even a screen after that; one telling me about a new feature of Pandora, but then it force closed after about 3 seconds. I was kind of surprised it even got that far. I wonder how far, programmatically, it got. That feature screen I saw might have been downloaded prior to me booting up into Safe Mode, was cached, and meant to be seen the next time I launched the app. Either way, it was interesting. I also noticed all non-system apps were removed from the app drawer. The only way I could launch Pandora is because it left the icon on the tray at the bottom of my home screen. I find that interesting because it was programmed to remove the icons from the app drawer, but not from the home screen? Also: its claim of all third-party apps being disabled is technically incorrect. It just disables all non-system apps. I have SuperSU, Cerberus, and AOSP browser installed as system apps and they are intact in Safe Mode. Under normal circumstances, I suppose the claim could hold some substance. Although, with carriers and their bloatware apps, the term "third-party" kinda gets skewed...
Anyway, whoa. Back to the original post. Nice find, OP. It's pretty cool that Android has such a state.

Yeah, the SAFE MODE feature should only work for SYSTEM APPS and not 3rd party ones. Its a great feature for anyone having bootloops with apps such as SETCPU (if you mess with the minimum CPU speed and you run into constant bootloop).
I'm glad I could contribute my find with others in this community.

This trick I knew from before but day before yesterday I found a new one....here it is
so just power off you device and then power it on, then let the google logo go and after the boot animation starts just keep pressing the volume down button until u get back to the lock screen and there it is.
Question, Im in a bootloop and my Nexus wont go past it. I can get to recovery mode. Tried a few things and still in a boot loop. Anyway to get to safe mode if my phone wont turn on to get to the power menu?

I'm honestly not sure how to do SAFE MODE unless the phone is booted up. If you can get into recovery then your best bet would be to WIPE the data & CACHE.
I'm not sure what even caused your boot loop since you posted limited information. If that doesn't work then tell me more and maybe I can help solve your issue.

Hello, I'd like to solve a problem with the annoying google search widget on recents @Lollipop and a user says in order to solve it I need to jump into safe mode and hit the recent button once, after that the widget should be gone.
I followed the instructions to get into safe mode, but I went into bootloop ?
I had to restore my backup afterwords
Why this could happen? Thanks for reply!
Thanks! Somehow I managed to trigger this on my standby HTC 610 and had no idea what it was. Had the same watermark in the bottom corner so it's built in to android
bro does it really work???
Hey i m kinda new here. I searched as much as i could for my issue but didnt find a proper thread about it so please bear with me ^_^'
I have this really annoying issue with my Xperia SP (C5302) where my back button (next to the home button) doesnt respond at all at times especially when i m gaming or when ram is low and i m using apps such as Opera or FB. Using android 4.3 Updated to 12.1.a.1.201. I bought the phone recently it already had an older version of the 4.3 jellybean. This really feels like a ram management issue. The thing is when i press it there is animation and vibration but it doesnt do the work(which is going back). The home button works fine though.. Really weird dont know what to do.... Any help is appreciated

This is a weird case. I have never encounterd a non working back button due to low ram. Sometimes it gets "stuck" but that fixes by itself pretty quick.. Happens with facebook most of the time tho..

I m not the only one... it is happening to other people but it is very rare. There are posts about it on Xperia care (talk.sonymobile.com) I cant post the links cause um a newbie here -_-
In any case should i do a factory reset? or is there any repairing options that i could try out? i really need this fixed.
Yes, it happened to me when free ram goes very low e.g. Asphalt8; you can't exit with back button, had to press home.
Could be related to poor ram management (in our stock ROMs). Maybe some "service" is shutting down which is related to back button function.. idk. If you're getting this with Opera/FB means, quite poor ram management I think.. Maybe lot of bloatware is being run in the background eating ram?
Suggest:
*Just monitor the amount of free ram with CoolTool app (at Google play), to see whether it goes very low when it happens. Cooltool itself may shutdown due to low ram..
*Try Greenify app to hibernate apps, free more ram.
*See whether anything could be done to keep more free ram, from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2751559
Edit: saw your app list. I would ditch half of the list if rooted . Chrome and FB are the first to go

Having another issue. This happened first today. I downloaded the game vector. The graphics were set to high on default and I played the game for 10 or so minutes. It worked fine. But when I exited my phone froze up. A black screen and than phone Rebooted. Man this is crazy! I'm worried if my phones damaged or not. Please can you say the reason for devices rebooting? The game didn't crash to home screen my device Rebooted while exiting. Is it a ram issue? Is it becuz it's set to the highest setting?

yaa...me to experienced sometime in stock ROM.
I'm having a similar problem like op, but in my case after some time, my phone automatically closes the apps and the back button stops working aaannndd it gets really slow, like when I press home button, it goes to home but it gets like 2~3s to show the apps on the screen and stuff like that. Then I havet to reboot my phone to work normally again. It seems to me that is a problem with the latest update and root, because I've already unninstalled everything, did factory reset and still would get this problem.
