Any one tested the waterproofing? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know it's water proof but I'm to scared to test it.
Sent from my C6903 using xda app-developers app

Why tempt fate is my response. I ain't gonna test it!

Here you go http://www.youtube.com/watch?list=TLCOniDQncq_PI1CFQ1boPI2Dj3GCjclun&feature=player_detailpage&v=zc12mKBjojk#t=697, it's not ENG but they say that the plugs must be closed.
Ofc. the diplay does not work because it's wet or his fingers are wet, the phone works fine after that test.

I listen to music in the shower with my Z1. Don't worry about it. Just make sure all of the ports are properly closed.

I wash it everyday

You'll definitely be fine. First thing I did when I got my Z (not Z1, still awaiting word on availability in the states), I dunked it in a bowl of water. Oh the feeling is oh so satisfying. Lol

I know for a fact that the first thing I'll be doing once I get it, is take a shower with it.
Just so I can boast that I watch the news in the morning ...
on my phone ...
naked ...
under the shower.

I am so scared to even try doing it but as soon as I get my screen protector and I am done with applying it properly then is the only time I will test it in water intentionally. I really don't want a 900$ device to be non functional for me even though I know it should handle it.

First thing I will do is accidentally spill something on it!

I washed it twice as too much dirt/fingerprint on it...

Well just don't use it while showering... as the phone will reponds to the water pressure....
Thx.

New OMG! feature in 4.1.2 update!

Hey guy's... so, I pick up my Nexus that is running stock Android without pushing any buttons and my device comes on and then I'm thinking its a bug? I remind you I'm on stock no mods/ custom kernel BTW Faux123 FTW! Or anything, just stock 4.1.2 later on today the screen is off and I picked up my device, before I can push a button the screen just comes right on without me pushing anything... then, the geek in me said, this is not a bug, its a new feature in the 4.1.2 OTA so I picked up my 7 without pushing any buttons and bang screen on and then I just laid it down and bang screen off. Okay, I'm thinking that this is a new feature for notifications... what do you think?

Its most likely a new feature, considering what's going on with galaxy SIII lol
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
This seems very likely. Can you imagine the battery drain this would cause if your phone was in your pocket and turned on every now and then because of being moved?
If it really is a new feature, then I damn as hell hope I can turn it off.
Its not a new feature.... there is a magnet sensor of some sort in the N7 and when removed from said magnet source the screen comes on.

False! I'm not using a case, but I do know that with a magic case screen will come on? My nexus has no case on it just me picking up the device turns on screen! Not magnet, but more so accelerometer:what:
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
is it possible to turn it off? i've got the same fear that this 'feature' could get outta control
I'm all for new features that sounds great! I don't think battery drain is really a big problem. That little thing you call a charger should sort that out. maybe you could just calibrate your gyro sensor to a crazy angle!

I didn't get it over OTA; I just got the package straight from Google and then sideloaded it without problem.
I have no idea what this thread is about.. I'm going back to bed.
Definitely not seeing this feature here.

Hmm, most likely happening due to an app like 'Auto Screen On'. Even a faulty device would still need the functionality coded into it the stock ROM, which has never been mentioned afaik.
A second possibility is that the OP is Magneto and is interfacing with the Nexus's magnetic sensor
I got it to do it once and I can't reproduce it anymore.

Apart from some pieces of paper:
Xperia Z
ear buts
extra ear buts thingies
very small usb cable, the phone is self is almost larger.
usb charger
a pies of carton
The box of the MDR R1 was far more impressive and premium, (but it seems logic since Sony calls the headphones premium)

FYI beats logo on the rear is easily removed

I thought the beats logo was tacky looking and I don't use it anyways so I wanted to get rid of it. A little nail polish remover with a q-tip was all it took. Not a sign that it was ever there!

holy.. ok ok well no its not the magnetic charger...(way too far away) no, its not the microphone... it might be the speaker, but if thats the case. WOW bigger magnet on the Z1 speaker than on the HTC one....? probably not.. unless they configured the speaker to fire upwards and have a tunnel port system.. maybe... its either that or the vibrate motor..
