Hi,
I'd like to ask if anyone could develop a small app that locks the rotation of the phone and not just toggle auto-rotate on off but actually LOCK the device in it's current rotation.
ya just like apple rotation lock. Any widget app?

+1, I've been looking for one for ages now.
Something like this?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.SagiL.orientationlocker
It's not a Small App, but it's very functional and nice to use

I have a solution, while this is not a native small app, in practice it functions as such.
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_fOjlIC2fbxUzRtUThhNU13QlU/edit?usp=sharing
Install the above apk and convert the widget to a small app. The icons have been modified to fit in with other small app icons.
FULL DISCLOSURE: This app was not made by me, it's freely available on the play store Rotation Locker and made available here with the permission of the developer madmack
The icons were made by sunbriel
All I changed were the icons.

I want a simple lockscreen without having to install a theme, as I don't want changes to my wallpaper or notification bar. What I have in mind is something like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I don't need any further customisations, so I wonder if the only way I can get it is to purchase an a lockscreen app? I have some paid apps, but I believe I'll really under-utilise the lockscreen ones, so if there are some free and legitimate files that I can use, that will be great! TIA.
Does anybody know?
You can always use metamorph if you don't want to flash a full theme.

Thanks for the tip. I checked up Metamorph and it's really beyond me. So I got the widgetlocker app.
But I'll bookmark the really cool Metamorph thread and refer to it if I ever become my tech savvy!
I use widget locker, you have to pay, but it's a brilliant app

+1 for WidgetLocker
Now that I've got widgetlocker, I think it totally rocks! Especially when used with the themes created by people from XDA!
I was a little put-pff by the screencaptures I saw on appbrain, which aren't exactly nice.
Wanted to make a thread for everyone to show off their Android 4.0 Home Screens. Be sure to explain your setup, what apps you used, wallpaper, etc. It would be great if you can provide links to what you've used, or at least where to find it. Thanks!

I was wondering what app do you use when you're taking screenshots? We all know that we (at CM9/10) have a built in screenshot in the ROM. It was good clear and splendid but when I upload it in Facebook, the image seems to be lack of color. I've seen many screenshots taken here in the Captivate forum and it was crystal clear. And the color is very vibrant. I wonder if you people use a good third party app.
Here is the image after I uploaded it in the web.

I use screen shot UX it has the option to either shake the phone but also set the sensitivity so u don't take a hundred pictures by slightly shaking the phone lol. Here is a pic I took using it.

I've used this one app called Shootme. It was on the market for a while, but for some reason I think the dev took it down. I did a search here on XDA and found this however.

The navigation keys are part of the screen. Screen resolution is 800*1280 (there is exactly that many pixels, otherwise, where would nav keys be displayed)?
Apps can utilize full screen by hiding navigation keys, like MX player for example.
But nav bar is running not as an app, but as some deep system process, so it doesn't crash when some app crashes or something, that's why apps like night mode and apps that tell you screen resolution don't affect or take into consideration the nav bar.
Thanks very much!!

Install any custom themes. Like Sappy or Aneurysm themes by @niaboc79. You can find that in cross development section.
There is a way for the colored progress bars. It's a simple Xposed Framework module that allows you to customise those. It's called Smooth System Progress Bar (best to download it from the repository).
It goes system wide including 3rd party. Here are some samples.
