Anyone experiencing moto x xt1058 model factory unlocked with tmobile? How was it n what network did you get?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Mine wasn't factory unlocked, but unlocked with a code, so same thing. It works fine. Everything works except for HSPA on the AWS frequency. If I'm in an area where HSPA has been refarmed to 1900MHz, I pick that up. If I'm in an LTE area, I pick that up. Voice and SMS works fine everywhere T-Mobile has coverage.

I'm thinking of getting a moto x for my wife. She is currently on straight talk (ATT version), and I'm trying to move us to T-Mobile or one of it's MVNOs. Either way, I will be buying a contract-free device.
Now the million dollar question is, will the color-friendly ATT version work well on T-Mobile's frequencies? And will the non-colored Tmobile one work with ATT frequencies?

I have the AT&T variant working on T-Mobile fine. Edge, 4G, 4G LTE. I don't see 3G in my area at all even on my GS4.
the AT&T version XT1058 , doesnt have support for AWS bands on HSPA + . So no 1700/2100 HSPA+ 4G or 3G.
a lot of areas have 1900 mhz HSPA+ t-mobile now, so you'd still be able to get on that, or T-Mobile LTE. the only moto-x that supports the AWS HSPA+ t-mobile bands, is the xt1053 one

Thanks sleepy guy, I needed some model numbers to use as a reference. we live in a refarmed area (DC). I seem to have had much better luck, at getting reception with my 1700 friendly nexus4, than my wife does with her international s3.
That is why I ask. So Is it safe to assume, that the xt1053 should be able to get pepper reception on both att and tmobile frequencies?

yes the xt1053 should be able to get basically any band at&t OR t-mobile use in the US.
i think the 32GB GSM dev edition is also an XT1053.
So the AT&T Moto X supports band 4 LTE? I'm in Chicago which is pretty well covered in LTE I might just buy the AT&T version for T-Mobile use if that's the case.

yes it supports band 4.
i actually returned my XT1053 t-mobile edition. i noticed it had some cosmetic defects like a scrape on the bottom from someone having dropped it, and a few imperfections in the plastic.
$660 (with tax) for american crappy manufacturing. went on ebay and bought an XT1058 for puerto rico (claro wireless) and they range in price from $500 to 550 ish (white ones seem to be cheaper).
anyway, i guess the XT1058 from canada / puerto rico are unlockable bootloaders. the puerto rico ones i know have no carrier branding or apps, and are made in china and i've heard they have better quality control. even the one ifixit took apart , which was an american one had a defect on it.
As long as you live in a refarmed area, you should be fine. I'm in an area that isn't refarmed yet, so all I get is edge on my AT&T variant X.
My understanding in talking with both T-Mobile and Moto is that both the T-Mobile variant and the GSM Dev Edition should book work in unfarmed areas as well.
Hello all,
So I have an XT1058 Moto X (unlocked) and running on T-Mobile's network.
When I used to have my Nexus 4 (still on T-mobile's network), I would seem to have HSPA+ and get speeds of over 10MB/s in my house.
When I use my XT1058 Moto X, I am only getting EDGE service and am getting speeds of 0.05MB/s.
Is this due to the whole not having AWS nonsense?
Thank you.
Yes

T-Mo has not yet "modernized" their network in your area. Until that happens you'll need a T-Mo or GSM Developer Edition Moto X to get HSPA+ speeds.

Thank you sir! This is exactly what I was trying to figure out.
I already sold my XT1058. I will be purchasing the XT1053 on cyber monday then
Yay.
Does anyone know whether the radios packed into Verizon's Moto X will be able to get 4G data in Hong Kong or Singapore? If I walk into a 7eleven, would I just be able to pick up any SIM and get voice + decent data speeds?
Any help would be most appreciated!
Anthony.
Short and simple answer: no. I believe voice and 3G data shouldn't be a problem, but 4G spectra adopted by both Hong Kong and Singapore are not compatible with that used by Verizon.
Here you go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
Yes you can use it on Asia, mostly UTMS / 3G/WCDMA Is using band 2100 mhz, I'm also use Att Moto X unlocked on Indonesia, and Verizon Moto x GSM is already unlock, so you just put you local sim card

I don't think the VZW ones support the 4G data in HongKong. AFAIK, the reogers ones support it.

Thanks for the info. I guess having 3G data will be better than nothing. Maybe i won't blow through my data allowance so quickly. Thanks!

In addition to CDMA for Verizon, the XT1060 Verizon X supports the following bands...
EDGE/GSM 850/900/1800/1900
HSPA/UMTS 850/900/1900/2100 with Rates of 42.2 Mbps down and 5.76Mbps up depending on the carrier network you connect to.
LTE band 4(AWS) and 13 <- likely not used outside the USA.
So if your carrier uses those, then you should be able to make use of the Verizon X.
You might also have to adjust the phone's APN settings for your carrier.
If you have a Retail or Moto Maker Verizon X, you might have troubles saving any changes you make to the APN settings due to write protection being enabled. (If you have 4.2.2 or 4.4 on your phone, you can Root and Disable Write Protection with the RockMyMoto, SlapMyMoto and MotoWpNoMo processes). If you have a Developer Edition Verizon X, you can unlock its bootloader which will disable Write Protection and makes it easy to root too (once bootloader unlocked, you can flash custom recovery, and install SuperSU from custom recovery to root).
As the title says can you use a T-Mobile flex on the ATT network? Does the flex come unlocked for all carriers?
The T-Mobile G Flex does not come unlocked. If unlocked, at least in NYC, the T-Mobile G Flex will operate on the ATT network for voice, text and data. I can't say if you'll get LTE as I have no clue what bands either provider users in NYC.

The XT1050 is a CDMA/GSM variant with the same FCC ID as the XT1060 (Verizon) variant.
It supports the following frequencies..
CDMA = 800/1900
GSM/GPRS/Edge (aka 2G/2.5G) = 850/900/1900/2100 MHz
UMTS/HSPA (aka 3G) = 850/900/1900/2100 Mhz
HSPA+ (aka 4G) = 850/900/1900/2100 Mhz
4G LTE = Band 4 and 13.
When using on GSM carriers, it will get the fastest connection based on what the phone supports vs what the carrier uses.
In the case of ATT, since they don't use LTE band 13, and rarely use LTE band 4, you usually wont get LTE with this hardware. Only HSPA+ (represented by either H+ or 4G), or UMTS/HSPA (represented by 3G or H), Edge (represented by E).
The settings in the rom you are using will dictate if HSPA+ is represented by H+ or 4G.
And Keep in mind that 4G via HSPA+ is not the same as 4G via LTE, hence 4G vs 4G LTE symbols.
Flashing the rom from another model phone will not enable support additional frequencies or bands. (i.e. flashing the XT1053 firmware will not enable additional bands)
If you want 4GLte on ATT you need either the XT1058, or the XT1053. Just keep in mind the XT1053 lacks LTE band 5 and 7. ATT is starting to roll out LTE on band 5 in a few areas.
Only 3g worked with the xt1050 then when I put the 1053 ROM in I got 4g I heard that some lte bands in the moto phones did not work .....but thank you for your help

You said "4g lte only 4g" and "when i install cy mod in the phone or another rom i only get 3g or h+"
I was explaining to you why.
UMTS/HSPA (designated by 3G or H) = 3G
HSPA+ (desginated by 4g or H+) = Non-LTE 4G
"some lte bands in the moto phones did not work" because of the different hardware variants of the Moto X. Flashing a different Stock Rom (with its modem files) will not change the hardware capabilities, but it can/will change what "graphic" or "symbol" is used for which type of coverage/connection you have.
i.e. If the phone shows 3G or H, its indicating the same thing. UMTS/HSPA connection. If the phone shows H+ or 4G, its showing you have a non-LTE 4G connection.
I won't get h+ with the other ROMs only h and that stands for 3g then I install the stock ROM from my phone I get 4 g and did a speed test getting about 17 megs when I first got the phone I put sim in would not get anything just wanted the phone for parts but tried this because it was locked on the person old number in the CDMA with alltel/Verizon I know there was a chance I can break the phone
Sent from my Moto X using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Don't forget, it could also be in the APN settings being used for your GSM carrier (unless you are always entering the same manually).
can you tell me how you flashed a different ROm on the XT 1050 .. i have one but the APN doesnt sit
