You use the cm file explorer?or an other?at the cm file explorer there is a favourite icon(star)...press it and you must see your sd card.when i remember me right...i use the es file explorer!
Sry for my bad englisch
Gesendet von meinem GT-I8190

The card is a Verbatim, 16Gb, Class 10. If it might help, I add that when I go to settings-storage, the app close immediately and says simply "unfortunately settings was stopped". Moreover I can't access the phone from PC, nor to the phone memory, nor the SD. The PC can't finds the right drivers. Useless to say that with previous ROM (Benz ROM) I didn't have any of these problem

I used diffferent file explorer, and tried to find the files on the SD using Titanium. nothing worked :crying:

more informations
I just tried a new instalaltion, with a full wipe before and after.
The phone still doesn't recognize the SD.
If I connect the phone to the PC, the PC can't install driver (no need to say that Kies is installed, not running, and drivers were working with the previous ROM)
Any Idea?
Thanks

ask uncle Google for "UniversalAdbDriverSetup6.msi", download and install it to you PC.
Connect your device to PC and reflash stock ROM via Odin.

yes, I can read it using a card reader and I can read it as well as using CWM. I tried a differernt SD in the phone (class 6, 8 GB), and it worked perfectly. Someone can confirm there's a limit for the SD class and / or size? Is there a way I can use my 16GB SD? :fingers-crossed:

The latest CM10.1 should have a maximum supported size of 64GB so you would be good, are you on the latest one?

The latest one also have some freezing problems but a few version back should already have the fix

Hi,
if other SD cards do work with this ROM, you might want to try re-formatting the non-working one (and do a backup first! ). Either with your desktop's card reader or within CWM.
Btw, what ROM are you on, could you please provide some more details (as listed in "Settings" -> "About Phone")

Maybe next days I'll try again to use the 16GB SD and I'll post if something change

[Q] Installing directly on external sd

I think the internal SD card of my i9000 is corrupted. I've tried everyting: wiped/factory reset, reinstalling Cyanogenmod10, installing Stock ROM, installing stockrom with re-partitioning on etc. Nothing works. I'm using odin to reinstall the stock ROM. Flashing the stock ROM to my phone goes well, but then when I restart and android is installing, I get error messages like:
/can't mount sd card
After reading a lot on XDA, my conclusion is: broken internal storage.
Now I want to install everything on my external SD. So I bought a 8GB cat10 SD card.
Found this XDA-post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1893354 Seems very promising, but I seem to get stuck on '-- Extract initramfs from zImage ( https://github.com/mistadman/Extract-Kernel-Initramfs )'. I;ve got a virtual machine running Ubuntu. When I start the script, nothing happens..... the terminal just closes.
The easiest solution for my problem would be a ROM that is altered to directly install on my external SD. I red somewhere that ROMS like that exist. Can't seem to find one though.
Well.. thanks for reading my post, and accept my appologies for my bad english. You can probably notice I'm not a native speaker.
Does someone have a solution for me? Maybe know of a good thread?
Thanks in advance!

also formatted my internal sd through adb...doesnt help either
You need to search for a data/data file that you can flash in Odin that will fix your internal SD card. I had same problem. My Android soultions helped me. Try searching for that also

Tried that already... didn't work. That method only works if your sd card is totally dead. The phone then automaticly switches to the external sd

How do I have to flash? With repartitioning checked or unchecked?
Do I have tot restart and let android try to install after flashing? Or must I flash your kernel directly after flashing the rom...

first of all apologize for asking a question and not answer your question, when you were CM10 and came back to a stock rom had to do some special way or just did you use odin? in my case I had installed CM 10 and accidentally format the internal sd through cwm now my cel just go to recovery and download mode.
excuse my English, English is not my native language, I use a translator
Thank you rxxxni, flashing the sdcard fix worked. My internal sd card had been stuck in read only mode and it took more than a week to find a fix.

This works for my SGS I test almost everything but the internal sd always returned all the data even before a wipe format re-partition noting work to delete the internal sd, wit this kernel the phone will create 2 partitions 1 fat and 2 ext4 wit the same size of the internal sd 1.89GB.
I will like to install a new version for 4.0 or 4.1 but dont know how to change this kernel to work wit another 2.3.6 like jw4 or jw9
if anyone know pleas let mi know

not able to restore backup using kies

Hello guys. I have a Ace S5830 in CWM 5.0.2.6 and just flashed Maclaw's CM 9 RC3. Now i'm trying to restore my backup to the SD card. I connected the USB and opened kies but it's not recognising my device. Then i went to the removable disk and it says please insert a disk into F:/
So how can i restore my backup to the SD card?? thank you
Go into recovery, click mounts and storage, and then plug into computer. Then, mount usb mass storage and device should be recognised. also, make sure you have the correct drivers for your Samsung.

But is there no other way to do it? I mean i've used kies for backup and restore until i used this ROM. So because of this ROM kies isn't recognising my device?
Ac. to my knowledge ur phone is rooted n the warranty is expired so Kies wont recognize ur cell.
hit thanks if helped
Chuck that Kies !
Dude ! Kies has always sucked !
Why don't you just forget that !
and the reason for kies not detecting you device might be because your device is rooted.I'm not sure about that !
But you can go to CWM recovery ....then mounts and storage and select "MOUNT SD CARD"
Then select "MOUNT USB STORAGE" and connect it to ur pc and transfer what ever you want.
That's the Quickest way ! :good:
Also, next time, try to back up with the app called titanium backup as it is universal for all phones and highly recommend.

Hey i did all that and i found that i already had the files on my SD card. I'm able to access music and photos but not apps! And my contacts are gone. very confused
I did what u guys said and i copied the files in my backup to the F:/ and it started copying and while it was copying fruit ninja.asec from .android secure and then it hangs. Then when to access F:/ it says there is an I/O device error. So i tried again and same thing...Any suggestions?
kise sucks, the only purpose of kies is for our phones to be detected, we needed the divers of kies..haha never to use it as to back up..CWM is the best when backing up sytem and image
If your contacts were saved onto your Google account, they should sync automatically when you sign in. If not, you have to have backed up the contacts by exporting them to either the sim or sdcard. If you did not do that, then you cannot get them back. Also, im not sure about the app sync problem, but if you go to play store and sign in with the same account as before, you can go to my apps and redownload them from there. Hope i helped

Ohhh. Ok i lost all my contacts forever then I signed into my google accounts and apps aren't there in "my apps" but they're there in "all apps".
But before flashing the ROM( that i currently have) i backed up all the data to the PC! I checked on my SD card and found that all the data was there but the apps weren't there on the phone! So then i recopied the backup (on my PC) to the SD card but then i had tat problem i mentioned above.
Well i had 2.3.6. stock before i rooted and got maclaw's ICS ROM and i partitioned 256M of my SD card using CWM. Does that affect anything?
Thx a lot! Sorry i'm very new to all this

I guess you din't get it right ! Read the below carefully now and hit the THANKS button if you understood and if it was helpful
See since you din't sync your contacts to Google Account or moved it to the SIM card it's gone forever ! Nothing can be done !
It was useless backing up with kies ...so next time just don't open that idiotic software !
You should have backed up using CWM Recovery ! But never mind ..you are new to this
You are able to access you photos, songs and other stuff because they are stored on your SD card and by rooting or flashing a ROM ..nothing happens to your SD card !
After flashing a ROM ..your apps wont remain there ...because you factory reset your phone before flashing a ROM !
But still your app data will remain in SD card ...meaning ...Suppose before flashing a ROM u used to play a game on ur STOCK firmware and u had completed 5 levels of that game and that gets saved on your SD card ..now if you install that same Game on ICS AOSP ROM now ..you will find those 5 levels completed
So you need to download your apps again from Google play ! and partitions dont cause any problem
Wohaa !! That was the Longest ..I Have typed on XDA ;p
No it shouldn't affect anything, but just to clarify, what version of clockwork do you have? Also, were you able to reinstall the app from play store?

See to restore your backed up data ..you don't have to move those backed up files to ur SD card that won't do the job.
Since you have backed up using kies you will have to restore through that software only !

Memory problem with cyanogenmod 10.0 stable sd card not writable?

So I installed cyanogenmod today. I actually reinstalled it after having problems with it for a while but since the reinstall hasn't fixed it I finally decided to just ask it .
So.. The problem is that it seems that my memory is read only. I only use internal memory (I've got an xperia T) since it is big enough for me atm. It has like 5Gb of space free but whenever I try to download something using the webbrowser app it says that it is unable to download because "no name". Another problem is that I can't download from dropbox neither and when I try to take a screenshot of my screen it can't save it.
Now I have read that cyanogemod reserves space for itself but im pretty sure it doesn't need 5gb of memory. So I guess I should make a virtual external sd or something but I don't know how and I am also not sure if it will fix the problems.
(keep in mind that downloading from the playstore does work)

The only solution i found is formating the memory.
But before, backup the memory on your computer ^^

It also puts arrives the internal sd formats badly is then to renomer 0 with differente permission instead of sdcard and especially not to remetter no Roma stock before having made a protection(saving) of your give because you cannot recuperer apres finally personally his(her, its) does not have to walk(work) I was to oblige to put back(to hand) a Roma cm for any recuperer! [Q] Cant copy files in my SGSA I9070 any help??

this is my first post.I flashed my (unrooted)phone with latest XXLQB(Serbia) update stock rom after that overall phone is working perfectly
but then i noticed that i cant copy any files into internal or even external sd card by chance sometimes it gets copied but almost all times it keeps giving me this error
0x800703EE the volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid
also if i tried to download apps from google play first it gave me 927 error but now it goes into just downloading bar while real download never starts
what should i do i dont want to root my phone.I did factory reset.

I have never heard anyone having a problem like the one you're having...
But you will have to Root in-order to Backup your Data and/or files... then flash CoCore Kernel with TWRP to boot to Recovery and Backup only your Data in your Micro SD card.... then perform a Factory Reset or go back to Gingerbread....
(You can try this too, but it won't be much help.. also this doesn't require any Root too)... Connect your phone with your PC and copy everything to your PC
About the Error 927 from Google Play.... I don't know about that too... but try Wiping Cache and Dalvik using TWRP...
and BTW. I think the error 0x800703EE the volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid" is a Windows related issue.. not Android related..
About that google play error code...you can try checking with google play support about the error code if it persist.
And are you by any chance using 3g? Because the default setting for Play is to block big downloads if you're using 3g. Check your play setting, and if that didn't help then cancel the download in the app page and then restart it. It will ask you to allow the download with 3g or something like that. Don't use the online google play (play.google.com) from browser for this. Use the app

Repartition external SD, told 100 times from me. Search xda, internet... For answer how to do it. It is not just format. You need to remove and add partition. This is if you do not see any file in recovry. If you do, than you are doing something wrong.

Just as in previous post. And that happend because that second sd is partitioned as it should. That was the case for me too, old 2GB SD worked nice, and 8GB didn't work. After repartition of that 8GB it worked well too.

Just as in previous post. And that happend because that second sd is partitioned as it should. That was the case for me too, old 2GB SD worked nice, and 8GB didn't work. After repartition of that 8GB it worked well too.

You can flash ur country's ROM using ODIN and for root u can use the same SD card and same root file for ur country's firmware. And backup the root file to your computer and copy it to sd card ONLY IF IT GETS DELETED.

problem after cocore6 flash
i flashed cocore 6(TWRP 2.5) yesterday and and now i cant copy anything in my internal sd & the thing is same thing had happened before when i flashed XXLQB on gingerbread so to solve it i had to clear all caches and did factory reset(even when i had done this all after first flash) and after that flashed rom again & did previous procedure again then only i got back copying function.
is something wrong with my SGSA only that when i flash something this problem pops up? plz advice any solution thanx in advance.
P.S. i want to flash custom roms in future but i cant due to this problem :'(

Control that the pins of sdcard slot are ok or check with another card. Check if you can mount/format in Settings>Storage

If you have flashed stock JB with Odin you have stock vold.fstab and recovery.fstab so the software should be ok, have you checked the card on pc with an adapter or in another phone?

Mount the card on pc using an adapter or working phone with mass storage option, then format with standard procedure (on Windows right click on removable disk and format), if doesn't work try to flash again stock JB, you can try another version if your device isn't simlocked to the carrier.

recovery.fstab is a part of the recovery image into kernel, you can't copy-paste it, you can only touch vold.fstab with root access. But this is not your problem because you have flashed stock ROM! As I said earlier: try to flash again a different version of stock JB or try downgrading to see if the problem is resolved.

Try with re-partition of your SD card. Maybe it is in ntfs format, as far I remember we do not have NTFS support out of the box (only with CoCore kernel).

First - what do you want to do? vold.fstab will swap your internal and external memory. And sure it will not help you see your SD card on PC or recovery.
I had problem with non visible SD card in recovery on GB - and solution was to partition it again.
Is not only to swap, but also to set mount points. Yes, I forget about repartition, said to format current partition in fat32 but he said that with an adapter or another device works
