Hi All, I need to know how to restore all the song info + album art + album arrangements manually done in walkman after i have a fresh install. I have manually organised 100's of songs (renamed the album name or changed album art) and I don't wanna do all these everytime I would have a fresh install.
Any folder to be kept as backup? Any method to keep a backup of my song info?
I took my songs, over 1000 and manually edited the data with MP3 Tag. (Its free) I spent over a week doint it but now I have the correct data

hi there everyone .
can anyone explain me how do i play music files that i stored on the internal storage , thrue the music TAB ?
thanx
Music tab?
Select left softkey (Library) and choose the album / playlist you would like to listen to. The first icon in the library is the currently selected playlist. Then Artists, Albums, Playlists, All Songs, Genres, Composers and finally Purchased.
Of course to be able to play tracks, you need to have synced some first using Windows Media Player. One further note... sometimes Media Player names the album art something strange which Music Player doesn't recognise, so to make sure your album art is displayed, use file explorer to rename the album art in each of your synced albums to 'Folder'.
e.g. \Internal Storage\Music\Girls Aloud\Tangled Up\Album Art.jpg - rename to Folder.jpg (Sorry about the Girls Aloud reference... it's my wifes', honestly!!)
thanks a llot budy /
you have made my day better
I hate to see all the images that I have as Album Art for my music showing up in my Gallery.. is there anyway to hide only Album Art images?
I try .noMedia file but that hide my Music too..
any suggestions would be appreciated..
Thanks
I'd like to know this too...
Try embedding the album art inside the audio files.
http://lifehacker.com/397258/find-and-embed-album-art-in-your-mp3-collection
thats how I have my album art but it still shows up.. when you upload song to G1 SdCard, it extract the album and create different images..
How about "rm -f *.jpg *.png *.gif" within the directory containing audio?
having the same problem, any solutions yet?
Create a seperate folder and move all our album art into it then .nomedia it, simple.
Hi
the solution is to rename the file to albumart.jpg
the music player will see the album art and the gallery will ignore it
Or you could just embed, which would avoid the hassle of keeping external album art images
Bringing back an old dead topic to live!!!
I've changes all my albumb arts to .albumart.jpg . so the gallaery did not show them back in Gingerbread.
but after upgrading to ICS all these hidden files are viewable again in the library. even .nomedia does not work.
p.s. I've used Windows mediaplayer to collect album arts and they are all small ,hidden, machine named JPGs.
Same problem with Motorola Atrix 2 ICS release. Gallery wants to load all album art. Needs to be fixed.
Hi all,
I was going through my gallery this evening, and im finding it really annoying that ALL my album art is in there
Anybody any ideas if its possible to hide/remove images from the gallery? Or will I simply have to remove my album art(not that I really care about it!)?
create an empty file call .nomedia in ur album art folder and run the media scanner/dis-mount-remount ur sd/restart the phone. All folder with the .nomedia file will be ignored (image, music & video).
I am having the issue with album art showing up in the gallery but am hesitant to use .nomedia.
Will my music still be found if the album art is in the same folder as the music?
Will the album art be found for the music apps if there is .nomedia in the folder?
It seems we should be able to just specify where the gallery should look for pictures instead of scanning the entire SD.
The music app still functions fine. I have all of my album art embedded in my mp3s but when I had them as separate files they still showed up in the music app even though I had the .nomedia file.
You can easily delete that file and reboot if you want to go back.
Does anyone know the specific directory and name of the file used for storing album art? It gets a little tedious having to re-run Album Art Grabber after flashing CM6 every couple days, so I would like to start just backing up one and copying it back over after a flash.
The album art is cached in /sdcard/.Android/Data/com.android.providers.media/albumthumbs. But the files in there are not very useful when flashing because they are just named with the unix time of the time the cover was created from the media scanner. They will be deleted again by the media scanner when it re-scans after flashing. Alternatively, you can store the file AlbumArt.jpg in each albums folder and it will persist across flashes.
Try Cover Art Downloader from the market or appbrain. It has the option to save the AlbumArt.jpg files in the proper location so they can be picked up again after flashing.

I gave up on the cover files in the music folders because they were really cluttering up the Gallery app. Regardless, thanks for your help, and I suppose I shouldn't really complain when it only takes about 5 minutes to restore all the art.
Guys, I'm obsessed with keeping a well-organized music library.
I add album art, lyrics and all details to each and every song I download.
I use TagNRaname to achieve this.
Now the problem. On both the Music Player and UberMusic (or any other player), some of my songs display incorrect album art. Like there one of two images that are repeated on several songs, even though those songs have separate embedded album art!
Please help. How do I solve this!
Try 'mp3tag' to add song details.
http://www.mp3tag.de/en/
The details are added fine!
Its the phone that messes them up!
I have copied the same music to my iPod and the song art is fine there.

if you are on windows, go to view tab on folder options and check the first one, i.e. Always show icons, never thumbnails.
after selecting this, copy the songs again to your phone, it will show the correct album art.
i had many situations when windows messed up the album art.
Take back the song to your computer and check if the picture is correct.
Also try to wipe the thumbnail database.
Wiping cache didn't help.
This is so weird. Read.
When I copy the song with the messed up art to PC, it has the art embedded, but it doesn't show it. However, when I switch to Large Icons view mode, the art shows. Then, if I go back to Medium Icons, it shows it.
I suppose the problem above is due to the Windows Thumbnail cache. But... why the device? Why is it not showing the art correctly? And what criteria is it using in choosing the random art that it does show in place of the correct art?
did you select the option i have mentioned? did it work?
i believe windows chooses the album art of whichever song you play first in a folder and applies it to all songs which doesnt have any album art.
I even changed the SD Card today lol
And the Windows thing.. No that I don't use. I delete all the album art files created by Windows. I myself embed art into the mp3 files using a software. That way, the song itself has the art embedded in it.
My music library displays correct artwork in my iPod. The problem only exists on the Galaxy, and that too only in some songs.

Windows is definitely messy with the album art. even if you delete the album art, it still shows up messed when you play it with windows player.
for me, selecting the Always show icons, never thumbnails in folder options did the trick.
If you use your Ipod, why dont you try adding album art in Itunes and copy it back to windows and check.
I have the exact same issue. Being a professional DJ, I have to keep my music well organised, well tagged and I also make sure each track has its own album art embedded in it.
I use Media Monkey to tag.
Now, on my Galaxy S, no matter what player I use, some tracks show album art of another track and its just 2 or 3 pictures that show repeatedly on these tracks that are messed up. Its about 30% of the music that shows messed up embedded album art. Some tracks do not show a picture at all despite being tagged with album art. When I mount my SD on the PC and launch Media Monkey, all album art shows up nice and correct. Also, in Windows thumbnail view, all the art shows up correctly too.
I tried clearing Media storage data under applications but no luck. This is so utterly annoying!
What the hell is it with Android and embedded album art?
Some programs just dont encode the album art properly, ive had this happen a few times try this...
download mp3tag - http://download.mp3tag.de/mp3tagv249setup.exe
1 - drag you song that you want to change/update art into mp3tag.
2 - press shift+alt+5 and then change it to "import cover from file"
3 - click save.
the correct album art will now show up on your phone
solution
I had this same problem and it drove me nuts.
I finally realized that android prefers to use album art instead of my (very specific) COVER ART
If i had several songs from the same album, they all had the same art... and of course i didnt want this because I had previously downloaded art for every song specifically.
So what i did was, from my pc, deleted all the album names using "mp3tag" software,
Now the songs had no album reference, so the specific cover art was now displayed.
