I just recently switched from an iPhone 5 to an Sprint HTC One and flashed Cyanogen Mod 10.2 onto it, the headphones work to switch songs but they do not work to turn the volume up or down. I have tried long presses on it, I am using the Apple Earpods, I am willing to switch headphones if some work for volume + and volume -. Also does anyone know any other custom roms besides CM that work with song switching, anyone that has viperrom or any other custom rom that can tell me? I have tried the apps like Headset Controller and JAYS on the stock rom and they did not work as well as CM did, any advice is appreciated thanks!
There's a setting in there somewhere. I forget exactly. On PACROM, it's under lockscreen settings. Check around, you should find it.

I found settings for long press back button and long press home button but not for headset options, and those two options do not increase or decrease volume. Thanks though.

hello i have a problem i usually use my phone to play music ... now when my phone locks i have to unlock it with my pattern and ect to skip songs its aggravating ... does anyone know a fix for this ?? thanks
Yeah there kind of is. You can remap some buttons to act as pause/play and next track. I made it so I can press the Search button to go to the next track and the Call button to play/pause.
You can learn how to do it here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695936
Read the whole thing. Somewhere in the middle towards the end it goes over the commands for music control. Make sure you pay attention to the last sentence:
The added attribute "WAKE" allows it to complete the action without waking the phone.

thanks alot im going to try to understand this ...... but whats up with the original one .... that pops up on the lock screen is there any way i can add that one ... its more easier lol
Sorry, doubt there is a way to access anything before the lock pattern; that's why the lock pattern is there.

oo even when there was no pattern....the pop up music player still isnt there
What rom are you running? If it is sense based and you're using the htc luck screen, there will be music controls on the lock screen. If it's sense based and you're using vanilla or rotary lock screen, you're out of luck. If you're on darch droid (and probably froyo, but haven't tried), you can hold volume up or down to skip songs when screen is off, but no way to pause/play

thanks for the help ... im using darch .. and im using launcher pro ... it has the regular lock on it ... .. ur trying to tell me i need to have it on the sense home screen? thanks
just hold the volume buttons to skip, and use the hard key remap to change a button to play/pause. You can set a double tap on the track ball to skip forward in the music app.

,.... i just tryed to double click the ball but it didnt work .. with pattern enabled and disabled !!! ... i also have the double click feature checked in the settings of the music player.... im thinking about going to fresh ... and c if this is fixed..
edit i dont have darch i have damage control ...
well i switched to fresh and it works ... only problem now the widget sucks ... its that basic htc one eww
i think the reason it didnt work was because i was using the vanilla music player instead of the old regular music player .... solved !! In order to have the Music player while Phone is locked u Must use the older original music player to listen to music ....
Hi,
Do you think it's possible to map the vol+/- button to media volume instead of ringer volume when you're on home screen?
thank you
It should automatically switch to media volume when media is playing. What exactly are you trying to do?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
Somtimes i want to lower the media volume before starting a game.. wish just using buttons could do it!
It can be a pain...
I use Audio Manager. It's an app, not hardware, but it works...

Another option: I use Volumer++. You can have it live right in the status bar. Volume keys are remapped to MENU and BACK.
Not the answer to your question, but this app is very cool, and you can select the volumes to control. I find it much easier to manage volumes than using Volumer or Audio Manager.

I forgot that audiomnager exist, i will give it a try.
Thank
I too am interested if anyone has found a solution to this. I have no need for my Nook's volume keys to do anything with ringer volume. I would love to be able to remap these for media volume exclusively.
I know this feature exists with CM, but is there any way to get it with other Roms?
I'm currently running GR-10, would love the ability to swtich tracks with the volume buttons...it'd be hella helpful while driving.
Yeah I listen to music on my cappy all the time & that was one of my favorite features of cm7. Makes me miss my iPhone lol

Yes playerpro does but the issue was that it would turn the screen on if you tried and then yuo have to long press again .. I would like to do it with the screen off, saving more battery life since the screen isnt being turned on

My old (HTC) phone used the controls on the headphone cable to move between tracks, instead of change volume.
I have to admit I prefer things that way - so would like to know if there's any way to change the behaviour on my Mini.
Any suggestions (apps, mods to flash, etc) appreciated

Take a look at my thread here, there's a "press volume keys to skip tracks mod" and there's a chance it could also work with your headphones control http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39282702#post39282702

Does anyone know how to remap the harware buttons similar to what viper rom has as options? For instance long press back, home, and double press back and home. Also swipe up on home button. I would imagine that this is possible through smali edits in android.policy.jar but I don't know where or how at this point. If someone could help me I would really appreciate it. I love venom rom but I would like to atleast try out a few other options out there but I have found the remapping options with venom extremely had to give up.
Thanks, in advance

ViperOne can do this.

Nearly all of the custom roms and kernels for the One have remapping options. Are you trying to learn how to do this manually?
Also, the One only has capacitive back and home buttons, not hardware buttons like the Galaxy series.

No there are only a couple sense roms that have this option. As far as not being hardware buttons, it should be understood what I am referring to.
The only option that some kernels add is for HTC logo for menu

If you need to use the Volume to wake up your phone, you can use a custom ROM such as the latest version of Android Revolution HD. Also in this latest version, long pressing the home button acts as MENU.
If you need to assign a capacitive button to work as MENU you can use a custom Kernel such as Faux123. It gives you the option to use the HTC logo as MENU and to wake your phone using the Home button and Sleep using the long pressing the HTC logo.
If you need to use the Volume Keys to take pictures inside the camera app, you can use this mod
