Will LTE work?
I can't find any definitive info on the LTE band supported by the different models.
Yes LTE wil work here on AT&T.
Turns out it's the same model xt1058
So basically, the Rogers moto x, IS an AT&T model, but with an unlockable bootloader
They dont have a 32GB version in Canada though which sucks or else I would of called my connect to send me one.
I am looking to buy Moto X on eBay which has spec as below,

The phone will work with WIFI. You need a GSM phone, not a CDMA phone, if you want cellular reception.

(I didn't realize the O.P. was asking about a US Cellurar Moto X, which apparently may have a crippled GSM radio.

Thanks for your response. I will stay back from buying as there is no point having a device with broken wifi. .
@smohanv
While this wiki page -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moto_X indicates the XT1055 does support 850/900/1900/2100 UMTS/HSPA, the FCC docs don't list any UMTS/HSPA/WCDMA tests, only CDMA, LTE, and Wifi. And US Cellular's web site doesn't list UMTS/HSPA as supported either. So I'm not sure. Reading THIS FCC doc for the XT1055 indicates only CDMA 800/1900, LTE Bands 4, 5 and 12 only. No mention of UMTS/HSPA/WCDMA.
UMTS and HSPA will be needed if you want faster than 2G speeds on GSM networks.
one other thing I'm unsure of, if the US Cellular X (XT1055) is SIM unlocked for GSM.

Thanks. It is very strange that Moto X comes in different model by network and confusing which one to choose from for the GSM networks like in the UK.
Motorola Moto X XT1058 for AT&T
Motorola Moto X XT1053 for T-Mobile
Motorola Moto X XT1052 for Europe
Motorola Moto X XT1056 for Sprint
Motorola Moto X XT1060 for Verizon
Motorola Moto X XT1055 for U.S. Cellular

This is because of the different frequencies in use by location, and by carrier as well in the case of the USA...
I would be been nice if Moto could have made one GSM version that supported all GSM/EDGE/UMTS/HSPA/LTE frequencies around the globe, and then the CDMA variants (like Verizon, Sprint and US Cellular) as needed.
From that list, most would probably say... XT1052 or XT1053 for use in Europe, but keep in mind the XT1053 would be missing some LTE bands and/or UMTS/HSPA bands that are likely used in Europe.
XT1058 could also work, but you can't unlock its boot loader, and you'd have to watch out for one or two bands not being there.
Hi All,
I bought a Verizon Droid Turbo more than a year ago in USA at full price (unlocked), used it there and now I am in India.
I am using a local telecom operator 'Tata Docomo CDMA', but the mobile data is not working on it. I had a debug session with one of the engineers. He said the APN username has [email protected] and due to this it is failing authentication and hence data not working. The APN username was set to <mobilenumber>@omh.ttsl.in . This username was not getting reflected.
Phone is not rooted.
Have tried the following combinations.
1. Problem CDMA sim + Droid Turbo= No Data
2. other number CDMA sim + Droid Turbo= Data working, no APN settings done. This sim is old one.
3. Reset to default for APN + add new APN on Droid Turbo= no Data
4. Problem CDMA sim + HTC one M7 = Data working, no APN settings done
I am clueless at this point.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Bump, any suggestions?
Well, I just did some research and your carrier is shutting down their CDMA service.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tata_DoCoMo#CDMA_shutdown
CDMA shutdown
Tata Docomo is at present shutting down the CDMA network. It started calling its subscribers to migrate to GSM and confirmed CDMA network would not be available after 1st July 2016 in various telecom circle areas across India.

It's already started in some regions:
Following RCOMs decision to shut down its CDMA network across the country as part of 4G upgrade, TATA Docomo has now announced that it will shutdown its CDMA network in Andhra Pradesh circle. As per update from Docomo customer care, Tata Docomo CDMA services will not be available in the circle from 30-06-2016.

So, you're not going to be able to use CDMA anyway in a few months, even if where you live still has it. Are you sure your region still has it?
____
OK, here's two possible reasons.
1) your CDMA carrier uses different frequencies than what your Verizon phone has.
What frequencies does your carrier use? Here's what the Droid Turbo has.

If true, that's not what the Droid Turbo has.
That quote above may not be factually correct. I really can't find much information about specific CDMA bands your carrier uses.
OR
2) Possibly your CDMA bands are locked to Verizon? Verizon's LTE bands are unlocked on their phones but I can't find confirmation they unlocked their CDMA portion on their phones... If not, it CAN be unlocked but it just may not be unlocked right now.
This may or may not be an answer, but how did you obtain your phone? Here's why I'm asking...
Before Verizon launched LTE network, they were notorious for locking their CDMA phones to their network. When they went to LTE, they started doing that also. Our U.S. communications agency, called the FCC, told Verizon if they wanted any more LTE spectrum (in future airwaves auctions) they would have to unlock their LTE phones. Verizon agreed. This happened in 2012.
So, if you stick in an LTE sim card from another carrier, you will get LTE signal. All of Verizon's recent phones, like the 2014 Droid Turbo XT1254, also have HSPA bands -- which would also be unlocked (because Verizon doesn't use HSPA, but it's there).
Not many carriers use CDMA. Here's my point. I can find no confirmation Verizon ever agreed to unlock the CDMA on their phones. That was NOT part of the agreement, only LTE. (They may unlock it also, I just can't find confirmations.) Right now, your CDMA bands may still only work if connected to Verizon.
Now, a lot of dealers who sell Droid Turbos (or any Verizon phone) in other countries know how to "unlock" the phones so they will work on other networks.
IF my hypothesis is correct and IF your phone was obtained from a non-dealer, say a private sale, it may not be unlocked for CDMA use on other carriers. You would need to get it network unlocked. There are internet based services who do this kind of work as well as 3rd party dealers.

Additional questions:
HTC one M7 ? What carrier is that phone affiliated with? Did you buy it used somewhere or is it your carrier's phone? Or at least an "India" carrier phone? What CDMA bands does it have?
Oh, lot of questions, but I have answers for all.

Yes, they are shutting down the business. But the region where I belong to Andhra Pradesh/Telangana, they would be shutting down next year mid 2017. This is not in the news as such, but got it from the internal guys. This region has the one of maximum subscribers so they decided it to keep it going longer.

I bought the handset Moto Droid Turbo at full price in USA. Moreover, I have another sim (~4 years) from the same operator (Tata Docomo CDMA) which works perfectly fine in Moto Droid Turbo. The calls/data work out of the box, no settings required.
But for this particular sim from the same operator, which I recently received, only calls work, no data.
So let me put it this way.
Tata Docomo CDMA sim 1: Moto Droid Turbo - Calls only
Tata Docomo CDMA sim 2: Moto Droid Turbo - Calls + Data

So the Asian market has comparatively different handsets compared to the Western market. Most of the handsets are not carrier based, they are sold with out any carrier branding to work on any carrier.
This HTC One M7 has dual sim capability and the first slot supports both GSM and CDMA network.

The very bottom is most important. The rest is working through my reasoning and how some of your answers dashed my theories.

We'll come back to this in a minute. I admit I may have glossed over some of this initially but you repeated it and it stuck the second time. Thank you. Repetition does work for me, especially when presented slightly differently. I was more focused on the HTC working and the Droid Turbo not working on your SIM card, and why. I missed that one of your SIM cards works great with the Droid Turbo.

OK, my concern was either they may be using some strange frequency for your CDMA that that Droid Turbo couldn't handle or they may be cutting out CDMA in your area.
I know you have an HTC One M7 that still gets CDMA, but I thought maybe it was an "India" version that could handle unorthodox CDMA frequencies that U.S. phones cannot handle. (Your link to specs of the HTC M7 dashed that theory. It uses 800 MHz for CDMA).
Here in the U.S. for a few years I was a subscriber to regional CDMA/LTE service that used an uncommon frequency for CDMA. All their phones had access to an extra CDMA band that Verizon phones did not have. I thought that might be the same in India...
Or that your carrier was using a mix of "regular" CDMA frequencies with unorthodox and only the uncommon were left running (for now) as they shut down their CDMA system.
It would explain why the HTC would work (because it was perhaps manufactured for India) while the U.S. would not work.
I specifically bought three Moto XT1225 (known as the Moto Turbo XT1225 in India) from other countries because they have all the U.S. AT&T LTE bands (2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 17). Whereas the Droid Turbo XT1254/U.S. Moto Maxx XT1250 only have 2, 3, 4, 7, 13. Doesn't have LTE bands 5 & 17. And AT&T doesn't use CDMA. For people using the Droid Turbo on AT&T, they will only get LTE in areas with LTE bands 2 & 4, and will have to drop down to HSPA in areas where AT&T uses LTE bands 5 and 17. LTE 17 is used a LOT by AT&T in Atlanta where i work.
I thought something similar was happening to you, if certain CDMA bands were being discontinued in your area, but you have no other frequencies (like HSPA) to drop down to.
However, since one of your two SIM cards (both same carrier) works just fine with the Droid Turbo, then that's a dead end.

Yes, but I asked how/where you bought the Droid Turbo, for a reason. You answered, but this was my theory...
When I bought my three XT1225, one was already "unlocked" Motorola factory model from Mexico. Two of them however were Claro carrier models from Puerto Rico. They are locked to Claro, would not normally work on other carriers like AT&T -- but the eBay dealers unlocked them before shipping them to me. They have to be unlocked by special code before they can be used on other carriers. I thought perhaps the CDMA portion of the Droid Turbo was that way. I know the LTE is unlocked, and the HSPA, but Verizon has a history of locking CDMA to their network.
an unlock code for these Verizon devices: try 000000 or 123456 to use these phones on a different carrier.

Does this new SIM -- the one that works with the HTC, but not the Droid Turbo -- also work well with your Moto Droid Razr, Samsung Galaxy Stellar? Is it just the Droid Turbo that has issues with the new SIM?
I assume the old SIM card, the one that works well for the Droid Turbo, also works well with your Moto Droid Razr, Samsung Galaxy Stellar?
I wondering if your carrier has changed something in their SIM cards, if the OLD one works fine for all phones, but the new one does not -- especially a U.S. phone?

You are correct, the operator has upgraded the sims over the last couple of years, but I cant exactly say what has been changed.
I cross checked with Verizon, they said the device is factory unlocked, so no point in trying the unlock code.
Yup, I am at a dead end.
Although I can set the APN, but that doesnt have any affect on the Data connection. I got it debugged with the operator, he says that some verizon username ([email protected]) comes in APN hence the connection is getting refused or in short authentication failure.

Hmmm.... is your Droid Turbo bootloader unlocked? What if you flashed XT1250 firmware over the XT1254? Firmware including radio. That would wipe out all Verizon references. XT1250 U.S. Moto Maxx and XT1254 Droid Turbo are the exact same device with the same FCC ID. Same radio bands, and everything. Many people have flashed XT1250 over XT1254 and vice versa. As long as your bootloader is unlocked and you don't try to downgrade bootloader versions (i.e. gpt.bin) you should be OK. Even if something goes wrong, with unlocked bootloader you can always just re-flash the Verizon firmware.
People have even done it with locked bootloaders but you have to get everything exactly right. I wouldn't take a chance with a locked bootloader.
EVERY QUARK FIRMWARE EVER RELEASED

I have never tried rooting or unlocking the boot loader. So that's a risky area for me as I am unaware of it.
I might give it a try it I am willing to go out of comfort zone
Thanks for the links and the help.
Have an update.
With official Verizon update for Moto Droid Turbo, which upgraded to Marshmallow, the issue is resolved.
Data works without any APN settings.
