From what I've read is impossible because when you unlock the bootloader it burns some sort of fuse or something like that, which can't be recovered
If the fault with your phone is nothing to do with the bootloader your guarantee won't be affected.

Well sometimes they just try to be a pain in the ass and complain about it, but if it's got nothing to do with it, just go ahead and send it to your phone's service
I sent mine in (the screen was dodgy) mine had an unlocked bootloader, when i got it back it had been reset from jellybean to ics and bootloader relocked and i can now longer unlock bootloader but they still fixed the device under waranty
okay guys, thanks. no my problem is the aux out and the usb port ;S i will send it with unlocked bootloader now

Basically I have a purple tint in my camera I am thinking of going for advance replacement but can HTC be trusted with a credit card hold or will they after recieving my phone which is in mint condition cry about some extremely minor flaw and say they wont remove the hold and charge me the amount of the new phone? Will I be stuck buying a new phone or is the advance replacement system nice and friendly?
PS my phone is bootloader unlocked from htc dev still s-on will that be a problem. I will obviously relock it and stock everything before returning it
Or should I s-off and then lock bootloader through other means so it shows bootloader locked not relocked?
Thank you for your help

so should I s-off and then remove the lock bootloader sign. Will they be able to tell my bootloader was unlocked then?
Or is making the phone s-off asking for trouble?

Why cant you root with HTCDev?
im not sure that the warranty will still be okay if we unlock it
plus the phone is from orange and it might not work

you will loose guarantee either way as the bootloader will show as tempered. More chance to keep it valid if you use the tools HTC provided.
Orange should work just fine. Just try...
On another note i sent 2 phones for repair to HTC "unlocked" and they never charge me for the repair.
yes, i was thinking of only gettin root and not unlocking bootloader

You can undo the root and unlocked bootloader, before you send it to HTC. If you cannot undo because you have too big problems with the phone (frozzen phone,...) they cannot controll it either.

yes you can undo and get back to full stock but hboot will show "Relocked" so they will know you mess with it.
Through some miracle, I just unbricked my phone. I locked it and bricked it but then I flashed the stock 6.0.1 rom and i'm good!. I'm now at a status 2 because i unlocked and relocked it. I know you guys hate that because why relock it, but i'm returning it and wanted to play it safe.
Weird thing is I'm still getting the unlocked bootloader warning on power on. Any ideas why and how I can get rid of it? I thought for sure relocking would fix it.

This might not work with a locked bootloader, but you can give it a shot.
Download the boot logo from this thread that looks like the original one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...o-maxx-droid-turbo-x-style-logos-bin-t3407046
Double click on the .exe file while your phone is in bootloader mode and plugged into your computer.
Thanks ya, I have seen that logo fix floating around for the Droid Turbo but I didn't want to try until I had at least one confirmation that it could work on a relocked bootloader. Anyone have a guess/idea/or success story?
Hello there, I was just wondering if anyone returned their Asus Rog Phone 2 for repair or simply returned it after relocking the bootloader.
On XDA there is a great guide on locking the bootloader here https://forum.xda-developers.com/rog-phone-2/how-to/guide-convert-cn-to-ww-rom-26-08-t3961042http://
So would be interesting to see if locking the bootloader is all we need to peacefully rma the phone or does asus have some other sneaky peaky something going on to detect if we ever rooted.
I am perfectly happy with my phone its just some people on my youtube channel were asking if its safe to return after relocking I just said I haven't heard of anyone doing so, so not 100% sure.

Most Android devices have a record in system chip. Once bootloader has been unlocked it will change status from 0 to 1 and even if you relock the device it will still stay as 1. Since you triggered the log thingy. So Asus techs will still be able to find out that bootloader has been touched. For example on Samsung devices they use something called a KNOX chip and when you unlock bootloader on a Samsung S9 or s10 the Knox chip will break and no longer work and status will say that Knox chip has been triggered with 0 to 1. That's how Samsung finds out if you have unlocked your bootloader on their devices. So Asus have probably a way aswell on their end.
You can return the device for repair but repair service will reject warranty repair and will put a price how much it will cost you to repair the device. Since they will see bootloader has been touched. So then warranty is voided.
I returned my 1st one because of no volte. Bl was unlocked, relocked using asus's app before the tool here was available. No issues, got a full refund.
I doubt they wouldn't repair it under warranty, unless it was actually caused by a bad flash, or something.

What Asus app did you use to relock the bootloader? I thought the only way to relock is to use a fastboot command. Asus has an apk for unlocking the phone, haven't heard of one for relocking.

Ah OK no worries. At least now we know that people can safely return or repair their phones if they relocked the bootloader properly. Thanks for responding.

Afaik in EU they cant refuse repairing faulty hardware because you tried a software mod.
Last night I flashed my Moto X4 to Pixel Experience(01-03-2020). I faced some serious issues after flashing to Pixel ROM.
After that i decided to flash to Stock ROM. Now I wanted to lock my bootloader. Can anyone suggest me is it safe to lock my bootloader in Stock ROM?
Someone help me and guide me with this ASAP.
Sorry for my bad English.
Thanks in advance.
I don't believe there is any good reason to relock the bootloader. Your warrantee (if any) is already voided, and having a locked bootloader gains you nothing.

Sorry for my bad English in advance. I heard from few people that if my bootloader isn't locked, there are chances for my device to get hacked and if i lose my device anyone can retrieve the data from my device. Is this true?
I was just worrying for this thing.
The only fully secure device is one that is never turned on and sealed in concrete and lead. If you are careful about where and how you use your phone, you should be fine, whether or not your bootloader is locked.
