Hello,
I have changed the dpi setting over and over on my hox, via rom toolbox.. But on the one it does not stick? I have root running the maximus hd rom..
Any suggestions why? After reboot i loose the setting.. Is this related to the protection of the system partition causing problems for the xposed framework too?
I would like to change the dpi to 210.

Is there no one who has changed their dpi via build.prop on the HTC One...?

Solved!
Solved it myself It worked as it should, when i did not enter 210 as the value, but 350 instead.. On the HOX 210 dpi was fine, but on the One 210 is incredible small (tested with the xposed module app settings). I guess a system dpi of 210 is simply not accepted by android.. 350 dpi produced the desired result.
Thread can be closed.
Kind Regards

Density changes will NEVER work on Stock . The only solution is to change it back

hey there,
actually when you change the LCD density to such values then the phone.apk force closes as it is not made to work at that dpi.
So if you want to be on 130 dpi you will need to get the phone.apk modded for that density
otherwise You will need to go back to 160 dpi density and then phone.apk will work and you can make calls.
cheers.

As you are using CM9 RC1,you will need to PM maclaw to make a phone.apk for 130 dpi density.
I know maxxx made a modded Phone.apk that works on 140dpi , just search

Can only roms change DPI, or can this be done through the kernel as well?
Does increasing DPI make for a slower rom? Seems to be that increasing resolution would put more strain on the CPU/chip ... no?
Which DPI increasing rom would you recommend?
All responses appreciated!
Dpi is changed by editing the build. Prop file which is basically an ini file. It doesn't make any impact on rom speed, but some roms such as ics stock do not support <213 (tablet mode). It has nothing to do with kernel. You need to be rooted to adjust build. Prop.
If you're on stock, try 240 to start, quite nice. There are some Touchwizz apps that need adjusting for lower dpi such as dialler and launcher pages.

I'm currently on stock ICS, rooted, running speedmod kernel. I'll look into editing the Prop file. Thanks!
It's in root/system
Save a backup just in case, use root explorer

Well I took the lazy way and downloaded a DPI changer from the market, and ... it froze my phone at the loading screen. Nice. Had to revert to nandroid backup.
Any idea why changing DPI would freeze my phone?

Rom Toolbox is the only app for changing DPI successfully. All others will leave you in bootloops.
I think it's best you edit the file yourself and not an app... It happened to mee too a few times while using an app. Never had a freeze by editing the file it self.
but the market do give problems for me... can't download lots of apps or updates. If something know a way to fix it for good pls say so... couldn't find something that worked for me.

240. But from reading this thread and others I see that using DPI changers from the market is a bad idea. Lots of boot loops. Why the hell they would have the apks on the market in the first place if they don't work (and could lock your phone if you have no backup) is a mystery to me.
Oh well. I will take your advice and the advice of many here and try it manually.
EDIT: Okay. Used Root Explorer and changed DPI to 240 myself. Booted fine. But I can't really say I can see that much of a difference ... think I'll try going just a bit lower.
Use density changer from Play. No bootloops, Play Store is fine. Running ICS stock here. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5tYXJ1dGlhbi5kcGljaGFuZ2VyIl0.
Noob reporting for duty at least I feel like one. Why can't I get the Cobalt Theme to run on my tab. I did the "apply system theme reboot apply my theme reboot" and nothing. Also running Nova launcher if that makes a difference.
I am running CM10 nighlies on a 3113 although the nightlies are running off of a 3110 I believe...........
Change the DPI to anything below 160, reboot, apply theme, change dpi to stock, reboot
I've read about that but where in CM10 do i change the DPI? I've looked and can't find it.....I see the 16 bit, font size etc?
Thanks again for your help
You can either download a dpi changer from play store, or do it manually via build.prop

When editing build.prop file, make super-duper sure you don't add any other characters, carriage returns, or spaces before, in, and after the line text you edit. That could cause it.

For my work like this:
1 set desity to 200 and reboot
2 set cobalt theme and reboot
3 set density too 160 or 133 and reboot

Last question sorry but I set mine to 133 and froze in boot again? Doesn't have anything to do with my latest cm10 night lies? Or maybe because I am using nova launcher? I'll try again at 200 then down to 160 I just feel like a retard that I am having a problem with this lol
Man....i don,t know..,anyway...try to folow this steps:
1 set density too 200 -reboot
2 aply theme -reboot
3 set density too 160 -reboot
4 set density too 133 -reboot
5 install and set Nova launcher
Before you try this aply sistem launcher..
If this don,t work i don't know what i can say more...

How is the overall performance for v3?
If it is better, I am trying to switch from Abens 10.1.
Edit: Switched to CM-10 but, the LCD density is bugging me, tried changing using LCD density app. Did not boot to android.
Can it be fixed back to the original dpi of 240. That would be awesome since it is a very smooth ROM by far.

The build.prop seems to be for GT-9100, the icons and text are so small. The dpi set in the file is 200, if I change using LCD density the display does not comeback upon reboot.
Can the dpi alone set to 240 like other roms? That is the only request.

You can edit DPI values in build.prop
Search for this - ro.sf.lcd_density=XXX
Change XXX to your desired values like 200,210,220,180,170
Remember one thing the value should not be extream
How to change dpi???
