COME ON.
When you know you have no idea what you're talking about, just don't respond.
OP, yes, you can do it. If you unlock it, get a sim card, the phone will work, will get data, will make calls on Tmobile.
It will not get LTE, only 3g. I believe there's something to do with Tmobile's upgrading towers to support different frequencies, so you should look into/inquire about that.
But yes, it will work to some capacity.

Correct. You will not get LTE with Tmobile. Because TMobile uses the 1700 frequncy for LTE which is AKA LTE Band 4. But you might be able to get HSPA+ 4G on the 1900 freq in refarmed areas.
I believe the Sprint HTC ONE doesn't have 1700.

I have received 2 termination notices in the past 3 years. Each time saying they were going to terminate my account due to excessive roaming. I continued to roam no less than I ever have and my account has never been cancelled. Just curious to see if anyone has actually been cancelled or if they just threaten.

this come out a few months back, was the only reason I switched to the Amaze when my mT4G died instead of going somewhere else.
Their investing in bringing LTE and the 1900 AWS band to the network, the 1900 band should be here by the end of the year, therefore encouraging iphone users and other 1900 band compatible devices, such as just about every international device out there and LTE, well that is pretty obvious why.
I logged in online yesterday and a pop up about this came up. So retarded.

Maybe some people didn't know. You know, the ones that don't listen to the news, read any newspapers, blogs, anything.. I know t-mobile subs use more data than every other carrier in the states but apparently its cause we're watching netflix and hulu on our smartphones. lmao
It's new because they're trying to reassure customers that they're working on getting they're service to it's peak, better signal, faster data speeds and also by implementing the 1900 band enabling customers who want the iPhone to be able to use it and get 3G/HSPA speeds with data, after all they lost a lot of customers when they slacked off during the merger period. They're trying to win those back and insure that they keep all others that are currently still with them.

Na, think they're building new towers for that, adding LTE infrastructure to the current network as well, that new band is to enable other devices such as international and devices from networks like AT&T to work on their 3G/HSPA and soon LTE network, hence no more 2G only on iPhones anymore.

Hi all, because sprint is removing my discount (I've been a customer for over 10 years) it is cheaper to move to T-mobile, but it has already been over 14 days and I cannot return my current sprint phone.
I currently have it rooted and unlocked, but I'm wondering if it is possible for me to just somehome keep this phone, but use it on the T-mobile network instead of having to sell this, and than buying a new one and losing money.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated,
Thank you!
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't they make it illegal to take your phone to a new carrier without your current carriers permission. Granted I do not know the details. But from what I understand the networks are not compatible so I do not think you would be able to do that. One is CDMA and the other is GSM.
I'm surprised no one's answered this simple question.
To answer your question, no. No way in hell. Sell your phone and get it T Mobile Phone simple as that.

No, for two reasons...
1. The phone won't do GSM inside the US.
2. Even if it could do GSM in the US, it lacks UMTS 850, UMTS 1700 and LTE 1700, hence performance on T-Mobile as a smartphone will be poor.

I am in the same boat as you. I am in the LA area, and I had good signal in my neighborhood too. However, I can't connect with LTE either, even when I stand next to the tower.
The most weird thing is: I went to the store fore return. When I hit the store, my phone works with LTE outside of the store. I have to go home. Now my phone still has no LTE connection.
It looks like that it is Sprint or HTC software issue. I had no clue what to do though.

Call Sprint customer care and have them check your UICC ID under settings/about/phone identity. I had exchanged my phone and this number didn't update and caused me to not get 4g when others had it. Its the same number as your SIM ID and is required to match your phone. Seems to be a common issue with setting up the HTC One since is has a SIM Card. They may argue with you that its for International only....tell them I understand that but you have seen others with this problem and that their UICC ID numbers did not match on the account and that its required to make 4g work.
Ok, thanks

Yea you have to call them with confidence that you know what the issues are. And in markets they have not launched yet just explain that data is very bad on this phone and you get a lot of dropped calls. Then just ask them to please verify the numbers on your account with the phone....and especially the UICC ID.
I live in LA as well, and I only get LTE in a few different specific areas. Should I call them to make sure all of my numbers are correct? Is there anything else I can do?

Highly doubt it... Verizon is operating LTE on 700 mhz (the latest article I saw was that in 2015 they will plan to shift some EVDO to LTE on 1900). The Sprint HTC One only supports LTE on 1900.
Just because Sprint hasn't officially announced LTE in that area doesn't mean they haven't been doing the update. They have a ton of location that have spotty (and even complete) LTE coverage that aren't even officially on the LTE list.
The n.ispsn is something new also.

Force roaming causing 4G detection isn't anything new, actually. If you put the device into LTE mode only, it achieves something similar. The device would much rather stay on Sprint service if at all possible and will take a weak LTE signal if it can (even if it would normally prefer a nearby Sprint tower providing 3G coverage).
The speeds you've posted are in-line with a Sprint 4G test/slow rollout and would frankly be rather laughable on Verizon's 4G network-- if we get around the obvious hurtle that it is not physically possible for your phone to pick up Verizon's LTE, full stop.
Eliminate what's impossible (by hardware) and we have a series of at least possible alternatives.

Sprint 4G on initial release in an area or an a tower is very wonky. It's off and on, slow and only works at a short range. Just be patient and you will get it really soon. They just activated it in a couple areas where I live also. They tend to put them near Sprint Corp stores.

Why is it unbelievable that Sprint is bringing 4g to Arkansas... They HAVE TO do the NV update on every single tower that broadcasts Sprint Signal. It is cheap as dirt to just add the LTE hardware into the NV station once the NV upgrade is completed. This is a nation wide requirement since they are about to do some wonky ass things on the 1900 MHz PCS bands (when they start to reallocate their allowed bandwidth to different techs, it is an across the board FCC license).
I'm from Arkansas too and have been keeping up with the 4G there because that's where I travel to every chance I get. Jonesboro has sprint lte and it's been planned for little rock and Fayetteville to get it for months. It was only a matter of which day. I'm surprised it took them this long. But it was expected. I'm so happy to hear this wonderful news

No, but it's not really a thing XDA is super-friendly about discussing at times.
Anyway, it's safe to do so, but unless you're on a corporate account you'll be limited to 1xRTT, and Sprint's service will still pull ahead of Verizon's 1X speeds most of the time. Killing off the Sprint proxy servers coded into your EPST settings tends to be a safer bet for a speed boost, although it's hardly magic.
