my battery was running low one day, so I decided to used 2g only to save battery, I used the 4636 method switched to gsm only, then switched back. Now every time I reboot it's will boot as gsm only, I have to 4636 every boot. And it's a been month, during this time I wiped my phone a couple times and flashed a couple roms but still the same. Can anyone help me out here real quick thanks

Have you tried pulling the SIM and reinserting it, and restarting?
U can change the type of network in Setting right
Sent from my HTC One _zyc5026
Pulling the sim? No I haven't, I don't see how would that help but I will give it a shot anyways.
And no I'm on latest insertcoin and there isn't an option to change it under setting..
Thanks

Hi,
Ironically, I was messing with 4636 today as well and have lost LTE.
How can I get my settings reset? Is it just pulling the SIM and popping back in with a restart?
To fix this I went into APN's and clicked the menu button on the top right, hit restore defaults or something like that and tada.
the sim card thing didnt work. how do i reset apn? i cant find it in setting under mobile network for some reason?
edit: nm got it, reset to default, but it didnt do the trick.
Odd worked great for me

My experience: first time install Lokout --> first crash!
I didn't got whats wrong, phone reset, everything I needed installed again, Lookout installed---> two time crashes!!!
Lookout uninstalled two weeks ago, no more crashes (instant reboot because system fault)
I don't say it is something wrong with Lookout, in my case went wrong!!
Yes, I have had a couple of random reboots while using the phone, don't know why.
Same issue. Reboots ~twice a day.
Checked logs - nothing interesting. Only once i saw there kernel panic backtrace, but unfortunately i've lost the trace.
It was somewhere in the wireless code, with pretty message "EAGAIN!"
Checked kernel sources, found the message in the wl_iw_iscan_get_scan function.
After i have provided that information to HTC support, the support told me to change my SIM card to newer one (i have SIM that made in 2004), and to set the field Network mode at Settings->Wireless and networks -> Mobile networks to the GSM only.
Changed settings. Waiting for reboots )

This is interesting.... does that mean we bought a 3G phone to run on 2G network?
if you have a decent provider, you can always ask them to send you a new one. Usually they will give u a new sim-card for free. Also add the message from HTC it will be more convincing

About time, someone highlight this auto-rebooting problem, im from singapore and i can tell u guys its a major problem amongst incredible s users here, 2 out 3 experience this on their incredible S. I can confirm its not apps that is causing it cause mine auto-rebooted fresh out of the box, and some users did a hard reset and still experience the problem. Apparently the first Htc incredible also face this random reboot issues. Im thinking possible hardware..

hmmm... I got the phone for almost 2 weeks... and the reboots took place at an interval of about 3-4 days
however, IIRC, 1 reboot took place before I went to bed, and it was in 2G...
so.....
Hi,
I'm an IS owner, the first one I had rebooted 3 times in 1 week.
I also had other problems with this phone and I decided to turn it back to get another one.
I tought it was just with the 1st but I encountered reboots with this one too.
I think it's a major problem with the IS, and I hope it's just software problem and then will be fixed with the GingerBread update, I hope so.

May be it's different problems. I have at least 2 reboots a day, and after moving to 2g - no any. Still testing.
Going on 3 weeks and my phone rebooted for the first time. Hopefully this doesn't become an ongoing problem. I came across another thread where people were talking about their phone rebooting a lot.
I will be visiting local HTC service centre later today.... and I would like to see what they have to say about this issue.
After all, I have done quite a fair bit of troubleshooting myself:
1. Change SD card (original 8G class 4 -> 8G class 6 -> 16G class 4 -> 4G class 4)
2. Factory resets (soft and hard)
3. Change of SIM (I have 2 lines )
If I can get anything today, I will update
Two days without reboots. Changed SIM and switch 3G on. Testing...
My sister has an inc S and she had now in about 4 weeks 5 reboots. 3 in the first week. I'm keeping an eye on it now to because she asked me for help, but I couldn't find out the problem. I think it could be firmware related. So I just hope GB will leak soon for the Inc S and maybe it will be fixed then.

Keep an eye on it today. I'm not sure how long you've had your SIM card, but it's possible that it's flaking out.
If you have the option, have your friend put their SIM card in your phone and see if it still gets a G signal (and vice versa with their phone). That would at least let you isolate the issue.

Had you made a backup of your /efs folder prior to flashing? If so, you may want to try restoring that copy.

Yeah it's fine and my apn's are fine too. I've also tried different SIM cards. Also when I try and register onto a network it won't allow me, it'll only allow automatic network selection.

I had previously exactly the same problem with my One X and Cyanogenmod 10.1 ...
I had to rewipe completely the phone (system, data, sdcard, dalvik,...) and reinstall the entire features (recovery, kernel, rom, gapps,...) every time I was installing an update. It did like this since the RC3 and each time then with RC4, RC5 and stable.
If I reinstalled something seperately (rom, recovery or kernel) and rebooted after each installation, it wasn't working.
Just try to wipe everything and reinstall.
Hope you'll get it working again soon...
Hello guys,
Today the phone's signal was gone, I restarted the phone and it didnt come back, but after leaving the area it came back. After that I tried to run a USSD code, the phone was making a call instead of running it, so I checked phone info in *#*#4636#*#* I found that IMEI is 0000000. Restarting didnt help.
One thing I did yesterday is changing preferred network type to LTE to see what happens in *#*#4636#*#*.
Im running 4.2.2 stock and no s-off. Can you please help?

Why don't you doble check that through adb with "fastboot getvar all" see what IMEI it shows there.
Did you buy this phone locally or from a carrier? Also, have you tried a factory reset?

Do you have any backup of efs folder.?
hey, I just did a factory reset and it came back. Thanks

Hi there, I've got an european HTC ONE with Vodafone Brand. Yesterday I got the message to update to Lollipop. After this fails, because of ElementalX I used my old Recovery Image and restored it. After that the Update went well. Now I was outside the first time, without Wifi and mobile Data won't turn on. The Telephone and sms works great. Now I don't know what to do. Any Ideas?
Is there The right apn in the settings picture below.

Go-to settings - mobile data - access point names - 3 dot menu in top right and select reset to defaults, the screen will change and you'll just have to select your mobile operator from the list again, give it 2 mins and it should work.
When congstar is not in The list you have to add a apn manualy with The right settings ( Google helps )

Last thing I can suggest is get the apn settings off your operator and manually enter them, sometimes they can send you a data packet in a text message which will automatically update the apn for you.
You usually get these same type of texts when you put a new SIM card into your phone, just got to ring them and get them to send it manually this time.
Hey tried that too. Set everything up, restartet, but no mobile data. Any idea?

contact your carrier, or even better, bring them your phone so they can confirm the APN is set correctly and that there is no problem on their side. Then you might want to try a factory reset before trying anything else.
Hi, I just had it short times working. Sometimes it is very short times there but most of the time it is not connected. Is it a Must to add an APN manually? I have never done this before.

No, it's easy, again goto settings, mobile data, 3 dot menu in the top right and select new apn, you will be presented with a load of things to fill out, you can usually get the details from the help section on your mobile operators website, or by calling them and have them talk you through each setting, not all sections need to be filled out, then save it and set it as the one to use rather than the other one you have now which doesn't work.

You said in your last post that you've never set the apn manually before ? But if you have, in that case I would take it to your nearest Vodafone store like alray said earlier and get them to sort it for you.

I had a similar problem when setting up an APN on Virgin mobile, sometimes, some of the settings can be different with the same provider.
I would google the APN settings issue you have specifically with your carrier and see if there are any forum posts which suggest slightly different settings.
In my case the carrier settings for APN type were this APN type — internet + mmsand didnt work...I was told to try this APN type default, supl, mms
And it sprung into life.
It could something that simple
