Hello all,
I am considering to buy this phone.
But i have one question about it.
On the intel site it says this CPU has HyperThreading technology, does android uses this technology?
Because i saw a few reviews and they killed the RAZR i about performance...
Could somebody awnser my question.
Greets,
Youri
Well, the phne have the best performabce i have see!
2 months on my own, im a app adict and no lag!!!
Im in love whit it,

THe razr i is quite performant. On surfing the atom is just great.
In fact, the HT is a "logical dual core". That is to say, that the cpu is available to do twice action in the same time, if all the unit of the cpu are full.
But it's not a real dual core.
It's enouth to have a fluid experience. And the intel cpu has a great battery life.
If you compare the atom to a S4 pro with 4 cpu, in some task or bench, it would be far...
In fact, intel has improve the vm too, so all the test depend on when it is done.
The gpu of the razr i, is not the biggest. it is correct. So that depend of why you shoose the razr i. For playing, you could find better.
For surf, and battery life, it's a great phone that we could find for 300€ (with the ODR). And for this price, there is not a lot of opposition.
Oke thanks for youre awnser.
I see a topic about Apps and Games.
Are there many Apps and Games incompatibel? Apps like 'Whatsapp, facebook, twitter, meme generator, XDA app Skype etc.?
AW: [Q] Question about this phone
Its not for games. If you want to play get another phone.
Most apps run perfectly fine, I don't think that there is a really important app that doesn't
The performance on browsing and app starting is as good as iPhone and n4, all games I tried from capable Devs run fine with no lag, e.g. mw4.
You get less details on some games though.

hey guys,
I just wanted know more about the seeder entropy generator and it's function of reducing lag .
how does it help and is it actually effective on our RAM deprived X8 ?

I'm not a developer, so I do not have any insights of how exactly this app helps our device, but from what I have gathered so far, most Android devices have a very limited random number pool from which to draw the information required to process certain types of data. I think it has something to do with encryption - the system waits until sufficient quality random data is generated in order to provide for the requirements of the apps that are running. This in turn causes lag until that amount of data is met.
What Seeder does, in essence, is simply enlarging this number pool later used for processing, eliminating the lag, and making some apps run much quicker than before. I don't know if it had a placebo effect on me, but I do think Google Maps runs much faster now that Seeder is installed. Some functions in other apps also seem more responsive.
It doesn't help the RAM you have, as far as I know. Some things just might work a bit faster. For me it was only possibly a slight improvement. For others it seemed like a completely new device, breathing in full again.
For Non-Developer you explained this good(so users can understand it,not saying that above is correct )

Well i own 2 phones, a sgs+ and a g pocket.. On the sgs+ the difference wasnt that great (there was an improvement but relatively small) but on the pocket the difference is HUGE! I mean i couldn't even play hill climb racing and now its butter smooth ) from that on I always told people to use it.. In the worst case it simply won't do anything..

Thanks It might not be completely correct, but I'm pretty sure the concept is spot on. There's a lot of information regarding the app in its respective XDA thread:

... so anyone interested should check it out.

Yeah, exactly. It isn't a big app and it barely does anything to clog the system. And what you pointed out about the the first phone not having much use from it, and the other having a huge difference is exactly what I first mentioned. Sometimes it doesn't do anything, and at other times the results are incredible.
Nothing short of downloading the app and testing it could prove its worth for your device. To the OP - download it and see if it does something, it might be worth your while. If not, delete it and move on.
i just detect a little improvement on my X8 running MiniCM10 , still , it works !!

Have been using seeder for over 2 months now. Have to say, It works flawlessly on gingerbread.. everything is super smooth..
crossbreader seams to have a lot more features .. Will give it a try and let you know !
guys I can confirm 100% no bias, CrossBreeder works better than the Seeder.apk
why? Simple, you flash it and you're done and it has a lot of features which is minimal and convenient for our beloved x8

yeah to elaborate, CrossBreeder gives you seeder, entropy, adblock, and alot more of awesome tweaks, plus it consumes a little amount of space in the /system directory that's why it's handy, and easy to install as you can flash it directly :good:
OP , i'll give it a try
@Eren Jaeger , Thanks 4 da info mate !!
no problem
Use CrossBreeder instead seeder app. CrossBreeder use haveged instead the rngd binary in the seeder app, this is better. If you want to kill all entropy related lag, use frandom. (if your kernel have frandom module, the CrossBreeder automatically use it instead haveged).
So, the numbers of lags due the entropy pool from the the worst to the best is:
- untouched android system
- seeder app
- CrossBreeder (with built-in haveged)
- CrossBreeder (with frandom module)

This sounds very appealing, I just installed CrossBreeder to give it a whirl.
As for the frandom module, how exactly do you apply it to work with CrossBreeder on X8? It's as if it suggests there should be one for each ROM, but apparently you can use Punchmod to use other versions. Which module did you use and how did you apply it?
EDIT: I really can't say if this is a placebo, but it seems that the GUI absolutely flies now. And clearing the dalvik cache on install apparently liberated ~35MB of space. By the looks of it, this works much better than Seeder. Many thanks for recommending this.

The frandom module is related to the kernel not the rom. If your kernel have this module, not need to do anything, CrossBreeder automatically use it. As I remember, now only alfs10 have frandom, but not sure, maybe the .32 kernel also support it. I not tested the punchmod method, so I can't say anything about this method.

So, I guess the X8 stock kernel doesn't have it?
Anyway, applying the module seems to be a tad too complex for me to deal with, given that there is apparently no module compiled for the 2.6.29 kernel, and besides I don't think the difference would be that stellar in the end.
However, if anyone is interested to try the Punchmod utility to apply the module compiled for other kernels, check this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113150&page=233
And plow through the next five or six pages. Both the Punchmod utility and the modules can be downloaded from there.
Please do report your findings, I'm sure everyone would be interested to hear them

Of course: the stock kernel NOT have frandom module
But compiling the frandom module is not a hard work if you have linux.
Does the Xperia SP handle most highend- games directly out of the box?
Or it requires some rooting, flashing etc.
I'm going to buy the phone soon..
Any recommendations accepted too..
4.3 [207/205] have ram problems. It fc most games. But in custom roms everything seems be okay. Recently I flashed mokee[4.4.4, ubl] and everything is perfect[battery lasts as good as 4.3 or even better, perfomance much better....]. If you want to stay with stock or stock based rom I didn't suggest you to buy xperia SP.

Well, let me put it like that. Our phone has about 60-65% of the GPU power the latest phones (The one with Adreno 330), our GPU has to render exactly half the pixels cause we have 720p display compare to 1080p. And that's indeed the case. In benchmarks Xperia SP has the same fps (frames per second) as HTC One M8, Xperia Z2, etc. ±10%
So, yes.
I myself am playing Asphalt 8, Dungeon Hunter 4, Dead Trigger 2 on highest setting with smooth gameplay and zero lag.
When it comes to "Stock vs custom ROM/kernel" performance, I'd say that there is significant no difference. Custom kernels give you a little bit CPU boost, but that doesn't really affects games, while custom ROMs's performance isn't as good as the stock one, since Sony didn't provide us with the source and we have to use hacks, in order to be able to run 4.4+.

Yes, you can play most high end games but stock rom ram managment are sh*t. After 24h~ usage free ram left 220-150mb most~. I tried "play" with ram manager but It didn't help.

Just because you don't know how to operate with your phone, that doesn't mean that the phone/ROM is bad. Even with stock ROM I had 250~300MB of free RAM with SwiftKey, NovaLauncher, WidgetLocker, Viber, WhatsApp, few xposed modules, etc.

In it's price range it's the best phone specs wise.
Moto G is a worth buy as well, but it has Adreno 305 which is about twice as slow as our Adreno 320. If you like gaming Xperia SP is the best buy, however it reached it's EOL so you must rely on custom ROMs for further software updates. While Moto G will receive Android L for sure, and I'm pretty sure Motorola will keep maintaining it at less till the end of 2015 since the new Moto G 2014 is pretty similar to the Moto G 2013. But still Moto G's LTE model with SD Card cost more, so you must put this in consideration as well. Going with either phone, you will be pretty pleased. But if I had to buy a new phone now and I had ~150€ to spend I will definitely go with Xperia SP.
P.S.: I have both phones.
Thanks , for your information.
I'm sure to consider the Xperia SP.

this is phone is supposedly great but, as other user mention, the RAM is lacking so it makes it lagging. Sure some games run fine. but try playing real racing 3 with no modifications. it'll burn your battery (doesn't literally burn it, i just mean really hot) and it often lags.
camera wise, it depends on preference. for me this camera sometimes get awesome results outdoor, but it has same problem with many xperia phone. lots of noise if u zoom.
if u have time, read my 1 year review http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2778795
The SP's gaming performance is pretty decent - and great for the price. If you're looking to get some idea of what 2D and 3D GPU performance is when choosing a new phone, searching for Antutu benchmarks isn't a bad place to start.
As for the camera, passable outdoors (but noisy), worthless indoors. Mine has even started taking out of focus pictures, even after half pressing camera button to focus first. Might be something to do with the len's protective film being removed (due to scratches)
The issue i have now is that it easily heats up when playing 3d games. Think before buying if you're a gamer.

Well I found out all devices I've ever used, my friends, my father's are all prone to heat up when playing high end games. This should not be the problem. As far as my inspection on my XSP, it won't get over the 41 degree Celsius barrier. However, I don't know about others though.
Now for some small hardware lecture. Ahem.
3D Games require more power
More power means the processor will step up its clock rate
Higher clock rate means higher power
Processors emits heat upon high power usage
Thus the heat you get.
Ambient temperature can make it worse too, so don't ever do gaming in a hot environment

Well what you feel is different from what it really is. I believe checking the CPU temp on the newer Sony devices (x degree), and compare with our devices (40-41 degree) will finally unfold the mystery behind XSP heating, perhaps?
And difference between dual core and quad core do play an important role, you know

That makes it seem ironic, does 4 cores draw more power compared with our dual core? I believe so, since newer Sony models have more or less 2.0 ghz clock speed. I still can't believe those devices felt less hotter given the power that they carry. Anyways, this is just my observation that I hope will benefit the soon to be owners of this device.
Hey Folks got a question does Gta San Andreas works on this device? Cause i cant find any gameplay or something like this,
Asphalt8 ? Modern COmbat 5?
Asphalt 8 and Modern Combat work fine, however the first one might require 256mb of swap to run lagfree. :good:
Didn't test those games on lollipop however, last time I played was back in my stock 4.3 days
Cause i might buy this device (yes i know its pretty old but still gold ) im asking cause i bought a device that didnt run gta sa cause of tegra 2 and i dont want that happens again ;D
U say lagfree ;D? On which settings hope not on low ;D
Does lolipop boosts the phone? Less ram consumption faster of opening apps and the rest compared to 4.3?
Thx for the answer though

Honestly? If you want to do gaming with a phone, get one with more ram.
Xperia V is an awesome device without big issues (both on software and on hardware), but the battery is really small (4 hours of screen on time when doing usual stuff, 1-1.5 hours when gaming) and of the advertised 1gb ram, only 768mb appear to be usable, and that makes modern games quite likely to lag (unless swap is used)
Lollipop and stock 4.3 didn't do much good to ram management either - On my phone, with a minimal setup of apps only 250-300mb is actually usable.
If I talk about lagfree gaming, I mean 'without stuttering'.. However, were talking about ~30fps here.
That said, due to the lower resolution and quite modern cpu technology I managed to beat the S4 in AnTuTu's graphics score, and, running my overclocked personal custom kernel, also the S3 in general benchmark score.
So, the phone is definitely worth its price (and not going to die too soon, I will care about that ), but it might not be the best choice for gaming.
Hope this helps mate

In my humble opinion, if you have such a choice, get the Xperia Z.. The quad core cpu will certainly make a difference.. And you have a larger development community, so you can be quite sure to always have the latest CyanogenMod officially supporting your phone. In addition, battery life is much better.
Hey guys after long research i finally found how to solve forever the gaming smoothness and all performance with our p9
You just st have to be rooted and paste and replace those 3 files inside the . zip to this directory
/product/etc/hwpg
I could play all games, chain lots of benchmark without any lag
You can look at the screenshot to see my performance on antutu before my scores goes to 97000 to 83000 after 3 test.
I can also say i'm able to play modern combat 5, gt racing 2 without any lag at all
Test and tell me how your P9 look like a P10 now
On this screenshot you can see all improvement you'll get in front of stock P9 with really better scores on games
I think thats the max huawei allows, there can be more if a custom kernel or sources exist.

To be honest i have to test one fully day but it seems very good cause i just modded thermal configuration to haven't this huawei's disaster throttling.. So, task are done faster with higher cpu frequencies but with shorter time... I did some game and i can see my battery stay very good!
Plus when i saw configuration of those thermal files i could see it started throttling at 44 degrees.... So it was very low
If you want i can post a screenshot of my cpu temp with this mod but it's also very good a'd nit very high
I was test it now on antutu... Original settings: 3D score 10641/total 86541 and text "game performance is mid-level". With this supertweak: 3D score 20399/total 99597 and text"run smoothly for 3D games in mid-quality mode" it's better and faster, but only thing: is this safe to use this tweak ?

For me it's safe i just disable the hard throttling part made by huawei and if you have kernel adiutor or cpu z to control your temp you will see it's not so hot, plus i'm sure always throttling and playing with cpu and gpu freq so much finally eat battery.
Attached a screenshot of my cpu temp
Id either throttling big and work more with little to save battery.

Is less heat throttling useful for everyday use without gaming?
For now after three days i can say there is no overheating at all with this tweak, it's super stable and i'm happy with battery now, i just plugged in my phone to charger now since i plugged it off yesterday at 6pm,i played a lot with clash royale and watched some video on youtube and doing facebook

First you must have a rooted phone and replace those files in the good folder with an app like root explorer and after it's done you just have to reboot your phone
Well I'm using kernel auditor. Do I need to disable the tweaks on this first?

With setcpu or other cpu manager app, you can change governor etc, but you can't disable the throttling made by huawei and then without this tweak your phone will slow down even if you put freq to max or governor to performance or not
