Sonya B.: Hi, my name is Sonya B.. Thank you for your chat request. Please wait while I review your information.
_ME_: Hi
Sonya B.: Hello.
Sonya B.: Thank you. I am going to go ahead and connect you to my Supervisor since you have had to contact us numerous times about this. Please give them a moment to review the notes on your account.
Sonya B.: Just one moment please.
SWW SeniorTC: Hi, my name is SWW SeniorTC. Thank you for your chat request. Please wait while I review your information.
Sonya B. has left the chat.
_ME_: Hi
_ME_: please review all the notes on my account this will help you to understand the issue quickly
SWW SeniorTC: Hello. I am Sonya's Supervisor. I have reviewed the notes on the account. I have also taken it upon myself to check the unlock status of your phone. I am sorry but the phone is unlocked. If you get an invalid sim error that does not mean it is the phone. That means it is the actual sim card. If it was the phone, then you would get any number of other errors, but not that one. Unfortunately there isn't any way for us to fix an issue when trying to use a foreign sim card. We are not able to replace the phone since using 3rd party sim cards is not a guaranteed service.
SWW SeniorTC: Once using the foreign sim card, you are no longer using Sprint services, therefore we cannot troubleshoot any issues on the phone, nor will you be using your Sprint number. You will be using the number assigned to the sim card. Also, we cannot guarantee what services will be available, you will have to get that information from the carrier you purchase the sim card from.
_ME_: you are not correct in this case
_ME_: there are 3 SIM cards
_ME_: all working in another Sprint unlocked phone
_ME_: but this phone reports Invalid SIM
_ME_: this is clearly a phone issue
SWW SeniorTC: There isn't anything that we can do. You will need to contact the tech team .
SWW SeniorTC: I cannot fix any issues relating to using a foreign sim card.
SWW SeniorTC: If it was a service we guaranteed then yes we could fix it but it isn't. Unfortunately there isn't any steps for me to do in this situation.
_ME_: as I mentioned I would like to exchange the phone since there is clear indication that this is a problem with a device who would be the right contact to handle this?
SWW SeniorTC: The only way to have it exchanged is if you take the phone to a Sprint repair center and they are able to find that there is a manufacture issue with the phone.
SWW SeniorTC: This line does not have insurance so they only way it can be replaced by us is if the repair center finds a manufacture issue with it.
_ME_: they claim that they have no way of diagnosing the issues related to the unlocked phones
SWW SeniorTC: I am sorry but using foreign sim cards is not a guaranteed service by us. We cannot replace phones if this does not work.
SWW SeniorTC: Where are you currently located?
_ME_: Germany
SWW SeniorTC: Ok. I am sorry but there isn't any way for us to trouble shoot this. Our system shows that the phone is unlocked. That is all we are able to do.

So their system shows that your phone is unlocked. What did you want him to do? Sprint chat is worthless and they pretty much have no power from my experience. Gotta talk go retentions

Did you go to a sprint store to have them check it?
Seriously what do you expect them to do? Say they will give you a new phone without checking to make sure the problem that is caused be the phone and not your misuse, and I'm not saying that you did but that is the process of any company. Even the oh so great customer service company Apple.

At the store they are clueless as well, the tech support is helpless.
Basically I just want to exchange the phone at this point but they say it is not their problem.
As you can see they claim 3rd party SIM support is not guaranteed.

From what I understand with sprint unlocked phones is that the only sim cards that will work on it are 64k sim cards. Att, tmobile and other US sims use 128k sim cards. What it means is that unlocked sprint phones will only work with foreign sim cards...not domestic. Hope this helps...

Idk because Apple pretty much gives away replacement to those with a warranty, and it should be the same for the s4 I mean I is a 500+$ phone

do you have a source for this info about sprint limited to 64k vs 128k? I thought it was a MCC/MNC block.

I don't have a source unfortunately. Coincidentally, I came across this information yesterday when I talked to Sprint CS International dept and that's what they had told me. My phone was shown as unlocked (iPhone 5 fwiw) in their system but when I stuck in a tmob sim it didn't work so that's why I called. I'm not saying that this is factual, just that this is what they had told me.

interesting. well if that were true(might be for iPhone).. its not true for all sprint phones. my unlocked htc one works with att and tmo sims. gs4 seems to block it from getting a signal altho no sim error after the unlock.
I'll look more into this 64 vs 128 thing. It's hard to trust Sprint with any technical info tho.

Yea, from what I've heard Sprint CSR is very unreliable... That you get different answers with different reps.
That's pretty cool! So your htc one is unlocked and works with t-mobile? So you pick up decent data speeds like hspa or lte?

I had an issue getting a device swapped while overseas.
I called and talked several times to CS.
After talking to several people who told me to go to a sprint store and me telling them I was in the middle of a dessert and had no sprint store they allowed me to do an advanced exchange for the device.
They said as I was more than 30 miles from a repair center they could send a phone to my billing address and I had to send the old device back to them.
only catch was If I wanted the phone to use the sprint SIM card it had to be activated with the sprint SIM in the US.
I was using a wataniya SIM so I didnt care.
Long story short, they shipped it to my house, they shipped it to me, I put a foreign SIM in and it worked.
Of course I had to ship the old phone back. of course the device couldn't have a broken screen or water damage. . .
Why don't you try contacting Samsung?

I thought I mentioned this above, I've tried _everything_ known to date.
I bought the 32 GB nexus 5 from Google received it in 3 business days. Little did I know how hard it would be to get a Sim card from Sprint. To make a long story short there is a gentlemen selling them in eBay. I didn't think to look there until I called every sprint store and tried calling sprint 3 times (hoping to a different answer). Just thought I'd let everyone know this is a possibility if you are like me and stuck with out a Sim card.

If you ever in that situation again, Full sized sims cards can be chopped down to the size of a microsim and work perfectly fine.
Just cut it to size

If they are full size cards, they are really easy to cut to size for the N5. Many cell phone stores will do this either for free or for a small nominal fee. You can also try to do it yourself, if you are really careful. Or you can buy a micro SIM cutting tool for a few dollars.
Of course, if all you can get are nano SIMs, then you need to get an adapter instead. Again, shouldn't cost more than a few dollars.

Sprint is CDMA so most users don't have the LTE sim card.

same thing with me got the 32gb nexus 5 from the play store but I got a sim card ordered on nov 6th through chat but it still hasn't shipped yet so then I asked again on chat today when its gonna be shipped and was told it could be 10 days. even tried a few sprint stores around me and none of them have one.
Tell them you need a SIM card for a HTC One or S4 and don't show them the Nexus 5 until they bring it out. For some reason a lot of them are under the impression that the Nexus 5 uses some kind of magical SIM card and will just tell you they don't have it.
Thankfully I had a sim from my Htc One. BUT I since switched to tmobile after being on my moms sprint plan for about 4 years. It was a great decision to switch.
I have one
I ordered my N5 through Amazon to use on AT&T. I have the Sprint SIM card that came with it. I'm not using it, PM me if you any of you want it. I'm in NY to give you an idea of how fast it will get to you. I can send it out tomorrow.
I recall reading around(cant find source) that roughly 15,000 Sprint sim cards just went up and missing. They dont know if there were stolen or just misplaced. I will try to dig up some source for you all soon.
i called customer care and was told they would be happy to send me one but they were back ordered. it took me 4 stores but i was able to get one a sprint store just outside of boston. they had two. actually pulled out a baggie that said nexus 5 on it. thank god. hoping my phone will be in next week.

No they absolutely do not. Just made an Israelite journey out of several stores and they don't have any. Most are even sold out or out of stock of the 16GB model they carry which comes with a Sprint SIM.
Even tried begging if they could give or sell me one from any busted/broken/RMA'd Sprint phones that use micro SIM (S4, HTC One etc), but no dice.

Nano or micro SIMs? Everyone i went to had a boat load of nano SIMs but no micro SIMs.
Just pickup a nano to micro converter from Best Buy its about $10.00 and works like a charm
After being told by the local stores that I could not have any of their SIM cards, I hopped online with Sprint World Wide Chat last Friday, 15 NOV. They told me the cards were back ordered, but they would be happy to order one for me and ship it when it comes in at no charge. I accepted their offer and got a ship notice on Tuesday. The card arrived yesterday. I guess my point is that "back ordered" does not necessarily mean an indefinite wait. My N5 shipped last night and I should have it in my hands Monday morning, so I'm a happy camper right now.

So selling my Sprint htc ONE and I have searched and found people both saying to remove SIM that a new user can go Sprint store and get there own and others saying it has no personal data and since it's just used for LTE it's fine to leave in.. Can't find any official Sprint answer to this so trusting my fellow XDA users over calling some confused Sprint CSR that will tell me there phones don't have SIM cards lol...
Thanks guys!

I say leave it since it doesn't have personal info as our phone uses CDMA and the SIM card only handles the authorization for 4G. If you decide not to sell it with the SIM card they might be able to go to a Sprint store but can cause issue to the person if the person doesn't know much about the SIM card or if it's even necessary since Sprint phones didn't use SIM cards till now. Not to mention the possibility of the Sprint employees not knowing about the Sprint SIM cards.

Reading various threads online it seems like as of now they're unable to activate the Nexus 6 directly because the phone is not in their system. Since There were so many people with questions regarding this topic, thought I'd share exactly how I got Verizon to make me a Nano sim.
1. Find a friend with a nano sim phone (in my case was a iPhone 6+)
2. Go to a Verizon store and tell them you're buying/borrowing your friend's phone and therefore need a new nano sim made
That was it for me. Didn't even have to pay a single cent
Why not just tell them u bought a new phone that uses a nano sim. What the hell do they care what it's going in.
Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
They won't activate the sim unless they have the phone that you're planning to activate it on with you in the store
I had the same issue with Verizon. I simply trimmed my regular Sim into a nano Sim. I used sharp scissors and sand paper to smooth the edges but amazon does sell a cutter.

Exactly. This isn't like other phones. The phone isn't in Verizon's system yet.
---------- Post added at 10:57 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:52 AM ----------
I cut my Note 3 SIM down to nano size and I ordered a nano SIM from Verizon. The cut down nano works great, but the SIM Verizon sent me doesn't work. I'll probably have to order an adapter and activate it in my Note 3 first and then stick it in my Nex6, but there isn't an incentive to do this drive I'm good to go with the cut down SIM.
Well I was at my local store in person yesterday asking about a SIM and was told that I just need to bring it in when I get it. The employee himself was surprised I was able to order one because he himself had been trying with no luck.

I see a lot of people advocating taking a SIM from an existing device, using another device's IMEI, swapping phones around, or even using the IMEI from a display model phone at a Verizon store. My question is this:
Since you're using a different IMEI to get the SIM and activate it, does the IMEI of that device stay attached to the account? That is, if I just take the SIM out of my M8 and put it in a Nexus 6, can I give or sell the M8 to someone else? I wouldn't think it could be activated, since Verizon will still have the IMEI attached to my account, even though I've swapped SIMs. Or will Verizon automatically record the new IMEI when I swap SIMs?

The only IMEI that will be attached to your account will be the phone that you have your sim card in. It would be fine to sell the M8 to someone else and it will not still be attached to your account.

The SIM is attached to your account. Who ever buys the m8 needs their own SIM. It only holds info about your account and device on the account.
I'm going to go to a third party vendor and get a nano SIM. Its free and I'll just activate it using my m7. Seems like the best thing to do for now.
I just called Verizon and they asked me a bunch of questions when all I wanted was a new sim. They are sending me a nano SIM card they said it's a nano nfc SIM. So I have the adapters to activate it on my m7.

Hello all. Though we know the N6 works on VZW and units are beginning to ship out, I am reading reports (android police)VZW may not activate new nano Sim cards for active subscribers because it wasn't bought from VZW.
Specifically, a phone purchased directly from Motorola is presenting issues.
As more Motorola units ship, has anyone had a problem? My current phone uses a micro Sim. Sure, I could cut it but am afraid I might screw it up.
Please share your experiences.

The new one needs to be a 4ff nano SIM and it does not work because it needs to be activated and provisioned on your account. You call the number and give them your old phone imei and they activate the SIM. Then place it in the n6.

When I received it, I used it as a template to cut down my wife's micro sim to a nano sim. It was easier that way.
My super duper cutter arrives today. When my phone arrives and if i screw up I can always get a new micro Sim and recut it instead of going through the VZW crap of trying to get a nano. The store is right down the street from me so not an issue.

Jerry: Great. Can I have a good address for Monday FedEx, no signature required.

Jerry: cool, thanks, doing some data entry
Jerry: All set for Nano 4G LTE SIM 4FF to arrive on Monday. Order number is ******** You'll get email at the email address on file regarding the order and tracking number. Yeah, I called last night and just said I wanted a nano sim, they shipped it out 2 day fedex shipping, for free. No problems, no questions, just said I needed a nano sim for a new phone.

I just called. They are shipping one out. They asked me what kind of phone and I said iPhone 6. Should be no problem right?

So I went to Verizon today to try and activate it and they told me that I needed to have a phone that used a nano sim to activate it, which means droid ultra, droid maxx, droid turbo, and the newest droid razr. No iPhone nano sims will work in it from what this rep told me. I have a friend with a droid ultra, so I'm gonna take him up to verizon and have them activate my sim in his phone and reboot it to fix the mm issues with my sim in it, and then move the sim over to the N6.
Big red is definitely not making this easy for us.

There is another thread on here as well as Droid Life saying it will work. I have an adapter so I can put it into my current Micro SD HTC one phone with adapter, activate it and then use the nano SIM in Nexus 6 according to the thread.
Edit::: I found out the iPhone 6 does not have NFC so Verizon is sending me a nano for the HTC m8 which will work. So, you are correct that technically an iPhone 6 won't work totally because of the NFC. Thanks for pointing that out!

All Sims are the same. Don't worry about it
I went into a Verizon retail location today (Village At Orange - 1500 E Village Way, Ste 2205 Orange, CA 92865) and they were worthless.
I explained to the representative what I needed and they told me they couldn't do it unless I activated it in store. I explained that would be a pain, but that I did have an adapter and was willing if need be. They said fine.
The representative then went over to a table with me and said that my device (Note 3) was not a nano sim device. I explained again that I had an adapter and he said there was nothing he could do. I asked if he could call someone and he told me he wouldn't. I then asked for the manager's card.
On my way home I called Verizon and they're sending a card out. It'll get here Monday. If my phone beats the sim I'll just trim my current one down. I'm disgusted at the service I received at the store. The representative acted like he couldn't care less. Really, really frustrating.
