So I rooted my One and installed a stock Android 4.3 ROM. Occasionally I get a notification for an update which then just takes me right to TWRP recovery. Should I be concerned I'm not getting an update, or just ignore it?

You need a stock recovery and (re)locked bootloader to apply OTA update.

Yes, you still get the update notification, you can download it, but you can't apply it.

You don't need to be relocked for OTA, only RUU.

Hello. This morning just got the ota update for unlocked htc one.But when i try to install it it enters the clockworkmod recovery and i get the message dant mount data and the path of the update? what is wrong with it?
I have my device unlocked and rooted is it because of this?
Thanks in advance
Can't have root for official update.. Use OTA root keeper and flash back stock recovery.. Or use mobile Odin Pro and you won't have to do anything. It will root update already

with the odin ill use it for what? flash the update rom?
Nothing to do with root. You can have root and still apply the OTA. What you need is to flash the stock recovery again, that's all.
Now i get it.Any chance you have a link with the stock recovery?

so what is the problem and the update cant be done?

I recently got my HTC one and unlocked the bootloader and rooted it. Now I got the ota update from HTC so I flashed back to stock recovery, and tried to install. The update starts fine but after the install bar indicator reaches about 1/4 it shows a red triangle over a phone and refuses to update. Please help.

Hi all,
I'm on stock 4.2.2 unlocked and rooted but s-on because of 1.54
If an OTA becomes available here in New Zealand, will I still be notified that it's available, even though I can't apply it being unlocked?
Thanks in advance!

You can only update via OTA if you have stock recovery installed and bootloader locked or re-locked. You will also loose root after updating because the update process rewrite over the files needed for root access
I Guess you will have the notification but it will fail if you try to install the update

Yes you will still receive notification of the update but you need to be on a fully stock rom and with stock recovery in order to install it. It is not necessary though to relock bootloader in order to install the OTA.

Once you are unlocked you don't updates anymore. You have to wait until one of the Dev's create a modified firmware update.
EDIT: Actually never do a OTA if you are S-Off. There may not be an exploit yet and will have to wait until there is to regain S-OFF.

Since this update brings us to the same version as the international models, I wonder if it will include EXTREME POWER SAVER MODE

Not true.. Once you are S-OFF you stay S-OFF even after an HBOOT update. This is assuming that you are still using the stock odex ROM with stock recovery.

That's correct if you are already s-off, we usually don't get s-off so quickly. But if you didn't s-off and are unlocked, it might take a while to exploit the updated HBOOT.

What we're trying to say tho, is you don't want to take this 1.54 update without s-off first. If you take 1.54 it probably has new hboot that you wouldn't be able to s-off with then

How to get OTA from your Device:
1. When an update is available, let it download. After the download completes, when it asks for intalling, give install later.
2. Connect your device in Storage mode and search the memory card for "OTA"
How to Install OTA:
1. Download OTA file
2. Rename it 'update.zip' (not update.zip.zip)
3. Put on root of SD card
4. Boot phone into HBOOT
5. Select recovery
6. Select Update from Zip
7. Select 'install update.zip from SD card'
8. Press power to select

Do you have to have stock recovery to do this?
Sent from my 831C using xda app-developers app
Well, hi
I was using on my m7 a rom for Developer Edtition a while, then GPE , but now I installed Developer Edition back and I can't get OTAs (4.1.2?)
So, what's the deal? I'm not using a supercid (I'm with BS_US001). What can be wrong? Because I lose a full day trying different roms, making a VM for Windows to try a RUU... and nothing
Thanks!
PD: Woops, I through I was on Q/A, a big mistake, can some mod move it please?
To get OTA's you need to be on a stock rom and stock recovery.

Yes. All you need is a stock rom and stock recovery. It doesn't matter if you're s-off/s-on bootloader unlocked/locked or supercid/other cid, but of course it's better to be s-off, bootloader unlocked and have superCID.
So, the zips available on htc one guru aren't stock? I tried that roms and nothing happened :/

Hahha no OTA updates, still with 4.1.2.
Well, I finally used a htc backup of some folk here and I finally have 4.4.2, but strange.
What's the correct method finally? I was tried with RUU Zip 1.29.1540.3 and Recovery 1.29.1540.3. No OTA received. (Using the correct cid and mid)
What carrier are you on? Not all of them have pushed out OTAs for 4.4.x, believe it or not. And you won't necessarily get older updates while you wait for it.

But shouldn't depend of carrier if I'm using an external rom, isn't? 4.1.2 is pretty old, when I bought the device was carring 4.3

Because it's the carriers that push out the OTAs.
Why did you roll back to 4.1.2 from 4.3?

Especially for 4.4.2, HTC official release was a bit longer than GPE (1month?) and I need to verify and fix some apps with 4.4.2 issues.
