Hi,
I flashed a rom trough recovery and i partitioned my SD Card.
Then I rebooted and came in a bootloop.
Right now I have the problem I can't flash something else, because I can't put any files on my SD Card.
Can someone give me a random rom for the nexus which I can flash trough fastboot please?
It's kinda urgent, because right now, I don't have a phone... :S
Thanks!
You do realise you're on the Nexus One forums right?
How, sorry!
My bad! my previous phone was a t-mobile pulse.
I'm searching a rom for the nexus one ;-)

Ahh Ok You can still move files to your SD card in pretty much all of the popular recovery images. I'd recommend Amon_RAs 2.0 recovery image (In the development sub-forum) which will allow you to mount the USB drive through it's menu and transfer files as per usual.
Questions:
Did you wipe when installing a new ROM?
Did you backup the old install of your system?
What recovery are you using?
Probably best solution to try and wipe via recovery again, restart phone.
If that doesn't work, fastboot flash a new recovery on your phone, AmonRa 2.0 would be best in your case, then mount your SD card and upload a new ROM zip onto your phone. I personaly recommend CyanogenMOD 6.1. remember to wipe your phone before you install or after.
Can't go wrong with one of the stock ROMs: http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Passion (Nexus One)/

Didn't knew this was possible.
Thank you very much, this solves my problem
shipped-roms (dot) com does not exist. I get really tired of links that don't work.

Thanks! I deserved that! Maybe something wrong with my internet connection at the time - but probably just me.
Hello
My DS7 has a broken port (that plastic line right at the center of the port is chipped). It charges only if I insert the connector a bit crooked... but the device its not recognized by any computer. I've spent hours trying to do it with no luck.
I would like to root it and test some other roms. Is it going to be possible without being able to connect it to a computer? An SD method maybe?
Please help! I did search before posting this... couldn't find an answer.
Thanks!
Do you already have CWM installed? That basically answers your question.

It would be helpful if you tell us what Android version you are on.

Like TheManii said, if you already have CWM installed you should be in business, but the fact that you can't use the port for flashing is going to be hinderance if you ever need to NVFlash or adb anything. So I recommend to be VERY careful and do nothing without much thought
It's much, much worse to have a broken port on the S7 compared to the S5. As you can remove the S5's batt and charge externally.
Consider yourself lucky you can charge at all, otherwise it's already a dead device/motherboard.

Thanls fpr your answers, I am running the latest official Honeycomb and unfortunately I don't have CWM installed...
Why not SDCard?
My other Android device.. the only way to root it was via the SDCard.. so I don't understand why a SDCard option is not available to the Streak-7.

Because ....duh....they are different devices?
so I guess there is nothing I can do right?
Pretty much all the stuff needed needs to be done via the cable. Now if you have 2.2 installed you can install Gingerbreak apk that will root it. Other than that, its sucks.
Well, some time has passed since I started this thread. I was wondering if maybe there could be a new solution for my problem?

First allow me to ask you this... do you know what root is, do you have any knowledge of adb commands, do you have the Android SDK and/or the Dell drivers on your computer and lastly do you understand the layout of the file system?
I can easily just type out the commands but I want you to understand the process
BUT I'm not sure this works... since you aren't rooted already I don't know if you can push files to the system folders

If you're on 2.2 froyo try using gingerbreak. Just do a quick Google search for it, and it will give you the XDA forum link for it.

Due to the confusion on how to setup flashcast and install pwnedcast, I decided to make a tutorial Video. Sorry for the crappy video/audio, I need a new webcam.
NOTE: this will work on a chromecast that has not been setup yet, and we recommend rooting a device before setup to prevent any accidental OTA update.
Files Download Link: http://pdl.team-eureka.com/other/Chromecast-Root.zip
Hope this helps!
also, bonus points for anyone who finds the "teaser" in the video.
Thanks

Good Job. I was actually going to do the same tonight, guess I don't need to do it!
I also think it could be mentioned that you could just flash Flashcast and Pwned before ever setting up your chromecast (eliminates the risk of connecting a brand new Chromecast to the internet and getting the update). I just tested it out on a Chromecast I got for a family member.
Sweet! I have been trolling YouTube for the last 1/2 hour looking for just this video with no luck. Came back here and "poof", here it is!
I have 2 Chromecasts that have been sitting untouched since release day, waiting for a comprehensive tutorial. Thank you!!

True, forgot to mention that in the video. Will add to OP, thanks.
Thanks for making video. I had a hard time the first time I did this. Did not know when, and after the first boot that it auto formated for me and I needed to upload the eureka zip file. For it to complete

What are the benefits of a rooted chrome cast
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
This might be OT but under the heading of what a CC noobie might do wrong!
I have a new CC but waiting on the OTG cable. I'm getting ready so I didn't have a standard USB flash drive but had a USB/xD adapter and a 1GB xD card on which I put Flashcast. After watching the video and the caution about trying to open the USB drive I decided to redo it. Win32DiskImager errors out at 97%, I forget the error number and Windows can't format it either! I was able to put it back into the camera and format it.
Just wondering if say someone tries Flashcast only to find out that they have one of the new bootloaders(which could be me too), what do they do with that USB flash drive or what will format it now? Or is it just something to do with the adapter that I used?

The biggest benefit is you get to keep your unlocked bootloader, and gain the ability to flash mods such as Kyocast to get around google's app whitelisting.

If you flash flashcast to a jump drive, and try to boot it on a chromecast that is already updated, it would stay on a black screen on your TV, and the jump drive would never format. You can just re-format the jump drive from your computer to return it to being a normal jumpdrive.
question, the other end of the OTG cable is plugged into your computer? where do chromecast get its power?

yes, I was using my computer to power the OTG. you can also use the stock power adapter if you want.

That's if your able to succeed but if it fails do to having the wrong bootloader? Are you still able to format from your PC or right after using Win32Diskimager to put the bin file on the USB drive, are you able to format, etc. then? Maybe using Win32DiskImager the second time corrupted the memory card??
in either case I must have the 3 way OTG? im asking this because I have the normal micro usb > female USB otg, there isnt a 3rd cable out to power the device. Appreciate your reply.

Well if it fails to boot due to a locked bootloader, it will not format. At that point even formatting it yourself (which would break flashcast) would not make it work as the bootloader is preventing it from booting.

For flashing the chromecast you need a powered OTG cable, but some people have reported success using a powered USB hub. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2465642

It's not the process or lack of completing that I questioned, it's the condition of the USB flash drive if it fails. It might be better to ask, if Win32DiskImager is used to place the BIN file on a USB flash drive and it isn't used to flash a CC or fails to, how or with what is used to formatted it for reuse?

The flash drive can certainly be reformatted. I've seen reports of Windows being unable to format it using the standard explorer menu option for some reason, which is a bug in Windows, IMO. The format operation is exactly the same regardless of the contents of the drive, and Windows shouldn't be looking at the contents at all. Nevertheless, it doesn't work for some reason, so what you need to do is go into the Disk Management application as described here, delete all the partitions on the drive, and then create a new FAT32 partition which takes up all the space. (If someone is willing to create a guide with screenshots, I'd appreciate it, as I don't currently have access to a Windows machine.)
Hi everyone!
I have a problem with my HTC One (GSM). I accidentally wiped everything, including my OS and my backups. I've tried a lot of things, like sideloading or pushing roms to my phone, but sideloading always fails and i can't install the roms i push to my phone. My phone is S-OFF and i still can access recovery (TWRP 2.6.3.3) and bootloader, but now my phone doesn't get recognized by my pc, so i'm stuck there.. Also, when i'm in the bootloader it says something i haven't seen before: OS-3.58.1700.5 (3.06.1700.10)
I really don't know what i can do to fix this.. I searched many forums, but i never found someone else with this specific problem.
I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me with this, thanks!

download the Squabbi tool on google. I'll try and help from there.
Since I have the 64GB model space fills up quickly with roms and backups, could I just store all that stuff on a USB drive and use a adapter to connect it when I'm in TWRP? Should work the same way right?
Yes, USB OTG works in TWRP. You can actually make your backups directly to a USB flash drive in TWRP, which saves you time and write-cycles on your internal storage.
Should i get 64GB or 128, and I can flash from the USB also right?
Size of the flash drive is entirely up to you, get however much space you need. Yes, you can flash and restore nandroids directly from flash drives.

Just fyi, the OP3T uses the USB 2.0 standard for its USB-C port.

It's not like USB 3.0 flash drives won't work. However, if you find two similar drives in 2.0 and 3.0 standards, the 2.0 one is likely going to be cheaper
