You must tap the tick symbol on the top right corner once you make the changes in the build.prop editor to save the changes.

Very late reply but you (or future folks having same problem) could try locking the permissions to read-only.

Right. I did that in evil Eris 2.0 and it has a background picture rather than being transparent. I'm trying to locate the .png it is loading so I cam change it to a transparent one.

no one has figured out how to make it transparent again, i read it was being looked into. i prefer the background as it doesnt conflict with my htc clock on the home screen.

Using rootexporer, just open the folder you want to remove the apk, at the very top, you will see it says mounted as r/o and then a button that says mount R/W. Hit that button. Now you can remove/edit files in that dir.
Piece of advice. If you are truly interested in learning your phone, look into adb commands. There are a few programs listed on this forum that do it for you or you can learn the commands yourself and just enter them via cmd line.
This will only work if your phone is rooted correct? Won't work on nonrooted or leak v3?

Yeah, after doing some research it does turn out you have to be rooted. I'm trying to adb my phone now and keep getting blocked out.
You have to root first.

[Q] Missing intergrated SIP client in JVK

I just made the move from the CyanogenMod 7 that was OK and had all the Gingerbread features included including integrated SIP support that work perfectly with my VOIP.MS account. After reading what people in the forums were saying about JVK I made a move over to a custom JVK rom and found it much more stable and complete vs CM7. I would like to know if it’s possible to add back the features that Samsung removed from gingerbread like the integrated SIP client?
If you want to enable sip for jvk you can put the attached file in "system\etc\permissions\", then reboot phone and create accounts in settings/call settings.
Also, you can modify framework-res.apk to enable sip over 3g by editing "res\values\bools.xml" and setting "config_sip_wifi_only" to false. Good luck.

You have to decompile framework-res.apk using apk manager, then you'll find the xml you need to modify.

Yes, it should work. You should deodex your rom first, and modify framework-res.
Mhh, put in the missing xml file and voip is working on the SGS2.
My only problem is that callers are reporting very low speak volume from my side.
Does anybody know how to increase the microphone level a bit for this case?
Oh well, just mentioned that now Android phone app will crash after taking a voip call. Seems the implementation from sammy is buggy...
I am currently on KE2.
Dan
I've looked in the deassambled s2 Phone.apk and Samsung seems to has modified some details in the Phone app, but the main and the most part is there.
Just waiting for my S2 to check if these crashes are related with removing some piece of SIP relateing code from PhoneApp.java

I have tried, using the "File Expert" App to copy the file into \system\etc\permissions. but the problem is, it does not arrive in the folder. i guess it's because of the only read permissions for "permissions" folder.
so what's the way to copy a file into this folder? the device is rooted. (but i'm new with root on android...)

When I'm connected to WiFi and try to make a call, my cell phone simply ask me if I want to make cell phone call or internet call.
As I can remember, to activate this function you have to go to settings/call setting/internet call setting (this is the last option on the bottom) and than in "Use Internet calling" change to "Ask for each call"
so, you can modify framework-res.apk to enable sip over 3g by editing "res\values\bools.xml" and setting "config_sip_wifi_only" to false.

Yes, calling using wifi works. But i also want to activate it in G3.
Sorry for asking so silly, but HOW can i do exactly what is written?
If i go to /system/framework/framework-res.apk in Root Explorer, and select it, i have only the chooice to "install" or "view" the package. No way to edit something inside the apk!
as an alternative attemp i have tried so simply copy an alternated version of framework-res.apk on it's place. but this ended still while copying in problematic messages and i needed to restore my phone from cwm backup... (the alternate version i took out of the first download link out of this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14584886&postcount=142)

No, it was not pre-enabled. When attempting to use mobile hotspot you get the message about the account not being authorized, because well, it really isnt.
I found the entitlement check on line 118 set to 1. Changed it to disabled, will post back with results after reboot.
[edit] Works like a charm!
I found the "entitlement check" at line 153. changed it to "disabled" and it's working. I guess it's handset dependent. Filter under "entitlement" and you'll find it.

[Q] backlight for Back/Home Button permanently

Hi,
is there a way so i can set the behavior of the Backlight from Back and Home Button myself or just turn it on all the time?
Im an TrickDroid Rom.
Thanks for your help :good:
Make a file and name it "99backlight" (no extension), and paste the following into it:
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
echo "1" > /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/brightness;
chmod 444 /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/brightness;
Then save that file and copy it to /system/etc/init.d
Sorry for being a noob, but presumably this requires root?
I installed ES file explorer but couldn't see the system folder to paste it in.

I don't think i'd need it on all the time but perhaps make it a little less sensitive with light. It seems to go off very easily even in a dark room with a TV on is enough to make the Back and Home buttons backlight go off.
I also find this feature annoying. OK normally guess where they are but as you only need them lit when the main screen is on surely extra battery drain must be negligible.
So please HTC either option to have permanently on (with screen on) or ability to adjust sensitivity to personal preference.
Incidentally is there an official HTC blog to log such minor requests (not complaints)?

Hey all. Other day i look around floating_feature.xml in system/etc and i found the line for config nav bar:
<SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_FRAMEWORK_CONFIG_NAVIGATION_BAR_THEME>SupportLightNavigationBar|SupportForceTouch|SupportCustomBgColor|SupportNaviBarRemoteView</SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_FRAMEWORK_CONFIG_NAVIGATION_BAR_THEME>
I think if theres an option "SupportLightNavigationBar" lets see if "SupporrDarkNavigationBar" works. And it worked
Don't know if anyone have dicover that but i wann share it with you.

Fairly sure you need to be rooted to mod system files even with ADB, or at least have TWRP installed, in which case you might as well root too as you have already tripped KNOX
or you can just use this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=by4a.setedit22
set
need_dark_navigationbar to 1
need_dark_statusbar to 1
then go switch it to black..
you might need adb initially to get the app permission but its only needed to do once.. actually, you dont need permission for that as its in system settings.. if u want to change secure or global settings you need to set the adb perms

Also I have a problem with low notification / ringtone sounds, I see there are level settings for that too
What is the adb command to get the full permissions for the app to edit everything? The values are reset back to 0 after a reboot
