[Q] factory restore xt1080 - Moto X Q&A

hello I'm trying to do a factory restore on my droid maxx but i'm not having any luck
i've been trying to do:
- power off phone
- bring up fastboot screen (press and hold power button + volume down button)
- i use the volume down button to move to the factory option then press volume up to select
after doing this on my razr it would go to a screen for the factory restore but on my maxx it's not doing anything it just boots normally
also i have tried the other options and they all just boot normally except the restore option which goes to the screen with the lil android getting worked on but then boots normally after about 2 minutes
has anyone had to do a factory restore on their maxx yet and had this issue?

If you rooted with pwnmymoto you will have to use the link posted above or fastboot flash the stock recovery and system image if you don't want to lose your data.

[Q] N1 hangs during flash, boots only to fastboot (sometimes), bricked or not ?

Ok, I just figure having a thread about this might help since I haven't found any similar problem to mine.
I was using Cyanogen RC2, out of the blue the phone did not boot (stuck at the logo screen). I did manage to get to fastboot and from then on this happens:
It does not power up in any way most of the times (power + volume down, power or power + trackball). I'm trying to see the causes of this but fail to do so. Leaving the battery out for days doesn't solve it. It just sometimes boots in fastboot or bootloader.
In this not powering up state, if I charge it to the wall or USB cable, it charges. If I push any combination of powering up buttons in this state, the charge led goes off and stays off until I remove the battery and cable.
When I get lucky and power it up in fastboot, I can try flashing. It hangs 90% of the time during various states, most of the time at the begining. This means I see the green progress bar empty or in progress.
I'm trying now to flash the stock OS (boot, recovery, system and userdata). The radio is FRF 50, 4.06.00.12_7, hboot is the original, 0.33.2012.
I managed to flash different version of recovery.img (stock, RA, cyanogen) but booting in recovery mode from hboot menu just restarts the phone.
When fastboot works and the phone hangs during the flash process, I have to remove the cable and battery and start over.
I did manage to flash a system.img once, don't remember what version, but that did not get me nowhere (might not have matched my radio).
Any ideas are welcome, like using the SD card somehow instead of fastboot over usb.
PASSIMG.zip
You can try the passimg method-
1. download a stock image and rename it PASSIMG.zip
2. Place the file on the root of your sd
3. Power off your phone, then turn it on by holding VolDown and pressing Power
*It will start up in HBOOT mode and will prompt you to flash the PASSIMG.zip update

I've read about this, that's what I plan to try next time when I manage to start the phone. Do you know if this works automatically when powering the phone or it expects the recovery mode (choosing Recovery from the boot menu) to work (because it doesn't)?
No it reads the img with out needing to be in recovery it will up date in the bootloader
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Some progress on the not booting sometimes, if I insist, it will boot after 4-5 battery pullouts.
I tried 2 versions of PASSIMG.zip from shipped-roms
PASSIMG_Passion_Google_WWE_1.11.1700.1_EPE76_release_signed.zip PASSIMG_Passion_Google_WWE_1.14.1700.1_EPF30_release_signed.zip
No luck, the flashing hangs at the end as shown here:

Looks bad. Seems like you have some HW damaged in this phone.

[Q] problem with recovery mode

i just rooted my droid yesterday using superoneclick. im trying to make a nandroid backup and when i boot the phone in recovery mode it just sticks on that screen with the triangle and exclamation. i know that i have to have a recovery program but i couldnt find anywhere saying where to find SPRecovery or clockworkmod recovery. i looked at a few tutorials and they just said turn off phone and reboot in recovery... what am i doing wrong? thanks.
When you see triangle exclamation mark, press volume down and camera button. You should see a menu. Choose apply update option and you should be in recovery menu.
That's how it works on the droid cousin, milestone, provided that you have installed openrecovery prior to this step.

i ended up finding somewhere else on the forum that said the volume up button and the camera button. i did this and it took me directly into a recovery menu that didn't really have many options... i chose the reboot option.
is pressing the volume down and camera button the same thing, or is it something completely different?
thanks for replying.

Sorry. Its the volume up button. My bad.
Didn't you have the apply update option in the menu?

i think what i had was "apply update.zip." i had glanced over something about update.zip when reading up on how to flash a ROM. and even though it seems obvious now... i wasn't sure that i would have been clicking the right thing.

I think the best option would be to install "rom manager" by Koushisk Dutta aka koush. Its available in the market, both in free and paid versions. It will install clockwork recovery for you. Snapshot of Rom Manager installed on my milestone.

Can't get into Download Mode sprint g flex (LS995ZV9)

Hello, I'm trying to get my sprint G Flex (LS995ZV9) into dowload mode. Tried everything. Please help
Shutdown the phone. Attach the mirco usb cable to phone once the phone is off. Hold down the volume up button and plug other end of usb cable into pc. Phone should boot into download mode.

EDIT: Was able to FINALLY GET IT INTO Download mode... I am all good now...
I also am not able to get into download mode, I did something really stupid, and did a clear from TWRP, but didnt flash anything, because there are no Sprint Flex roms to flash. When I came out of TWRP, it boots to basically the yellow boot screen, sometimes I can get it to go into the camera, but that is about it, I can get to the settings also.
when I try to boot into download mode so I can reflash the TOT file, I am just getting this screen when I tried to hold power and Vol Up, and pluging in the USB...
I have also tried what the post said about just powering off the phone, and holding Vol Up, and pluging in the usb... still the same...

[Q] - HTC One (M7), Stuck in Bootloader.

Hi all,
Apologies if I don't include all the information you require, first time posting in here. (I'll add some screenshots tomorrow evening)
I was attempting to unlock the boot loader to begin the process of installing Cyanogen Mod onto the device. After powering down and entering the bootloader(?) I have been unable to select any options and can't get out of it. It appears that the volume up button works, but the volume down and power buttons do not. The device isn't recognised when attached to a PC either. Not really sure where to proceed from here and any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Gurk

Hold the power button to reboot the phone in the OS. Then get your volume button repaired, you'll need it if you start flashing stuff, even unlocking the bootloader will requires to use the volume down button.

Holding the power button does not reboot the phone into the OS. The volume buttons do work as does the power button, however in the bootloader only the volume up button appears to work. (Sorry that I did not make that clear in the original post)

Stuck on the Redmi logo, Shows Snapdragon logo after 10-15 minutes

I put my phone on the charging while sleeping, and in the morning I see the Redmi Powerd by Android screen. I tried to restart long pressing the power button. But the phone is stuck on that screen. Not even able to enter into recovery mode or fastboot mode.
If I press any volume buttons in combination with power button, the phone is not getting started. Simple power button starts the phone but stuck on the redmi logo screen.

Whatever I'm trying to boot into it doesn't work. As far as I remember, I've not unlocked the bootloader, but I'm not sure.
The device was on MIUI 12.5 last update.
Any help?
By any chance, did you fix this somehow?
