[Q] - HTC One (M7), Stuck in Bootloader. - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Apologies if I don't include all the information you require, first time posting in here. (I'll add some screenshots tomorrow evening)
I was attempting to unlock the boot loader to begin the process of installing Cyanogen Mod onto the device. After powering down and entering the bootloader(?) I have been unable to select any options and can't get out of it. It appears that the volume up button works, but the volume down and power buttons do not. The device isn't recognised when attached to a PC either. Not really sure where to proceed from here and any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Gurk

Hold the power button to reboot the phone in the OS. Then get your volume button repaired, you'll need it if you start flashing stuff, even unlocking the bootloader will requires to use the volume down button.

Holding the power button does not reboot the phone into the OS. The volume buttons do work as does the power button, however in the bootloader only the volume up button appears to work. (Sorry that I did not make that clear in the original post)

Hey all. As i read through thee forums i see that people are having difficulties with the whole download mode, and recovery mode. I have found that its easier to HOLD THE VOLUME DOWN button for a good 4-7 seconds at the Vibrant splash screen. It always works, gets me right there. Anyways, here is a Visual Guide i made for both.

Your phone is not hardware locked, as many others are. Most of the complaints come from our not-as-smart brethern (no offense) that do not realize their phones are hardware-locked and simply think they are "doing it wrong"
I would run the .bat file associated with Unlocking Hardware locked phones. Just a suggestion.
Best way to get into download mode.
I messed up my phone after restoring a rooted-2.1-stock nand backup while using a froyo build. The phone booted up with constant crashes, and would not go into recovery. I should of read the froyo threads prior to doing that, I was just impatient.
I'm not taking credit for this, but this trick was not posted enough:
DOWNLOAD MODE
------------------
1. Turn off phone (if you cant, take out battery, put it back in.)
2. Plug in USB cable to pc, but not the phone just yet.
3. Hold the phone while holding down the both Volume Up and Volume Down buttons (the phone should not turn on).
4. Plug the USB cable into the phone (this will trigger the phone to turn on).
If you follow those exact steps, Download Mode should be displayed on the phone.

[Q] My galaxy s goes to download mode instead of recovery mode!

My galaxy s goes to download mode instead of recovery mode when i hold the three buttons. No usb cable is connected. I really need to fix this. can somebody help?
you're holding volume up right?
If not, do so! If yes, try the Down to see if you get in download mode.

I strongly believe you hold the wrong button combination, buddy.
Hold Vol UP + Home + Power button,
release all 3 buttons when you see the I9000 screen

when i hold those 3 it doesn't go recovery. it just normally boots
Hold em until the samsung logo flashes (shows then blank then shows again) then release ONLY the power.

if you can't get into neither download nor recovery mode, you need a 3 button fix. BUT before you do that, Please double confirm that you can't enter both modes.

[Q] problem with recovery mode

i just rooted my droid yesterday using superoneclick. im trying to make a nandroid backup and when i boot the phone in recovery mode it just sticks on that screen with the triangle and exclamation. i know that i have to have a recovery program but i couldnt find anywhere saying where to find SPRecovery or clockworkmod recovery. i looked at a few tutorials and they just said turn off phone and reboot in recovery... what am i doing wrong? thanks.
When you see triangle exclamation mark, press volume down and camera button. You should see a menu. Choose apply update option and you should be in recovery menu.
That's how it works on the droid cousin, milestone, provided that you have installed openrecovery prior to this step.

i ended up finding somewhere else on the forum that said the volume up button and the camera button. i did this and it took me directly into a recovery menu that didn't really have many options... i chose the reboot option.
is pressing the volume down and camera button the same thing, or is it something completely different?
thanks for replying.

Sorry. Its the volume up button. My bad.
Didn't you have the apply update option in the menu?

i think what i had was "apply update.zip." i had glanced over something about update.zip when reading up on how to flash a ROM. and even though it seems obvious now... i wasn't sure that i would have been clicking the right thing.

I think the best option would be to install "rom manager" by Koushisk Dutta aka koush. Its available in the market, both in free and paid versions. It will install clockwork recovery for you. Snapshot of Rom Manager installed on my milestone.

Hate to ask such a basic question but are you definitely holding the *down* volume and power key? I think I had something similar happen to me once (and only once) but I think I'd been holding the up volume instead of the down and thought that must have caused it...
Yes danny, im sure im holding the volume down, no matter what I do , the phone would boot to this only screen
Have you tried ADB?
Have you tried booting in the hboot via fastboot?
yes did try ADB, but computer won't recognize the phone
Looks like the recovery image on your device does not exist or is corrupted. Install the recovery image (ClockWorkMod) via the bootloader or via fastboot. Both are easy methods. Just search for the installation process in the forums.
I'm really sorry nobody with a bit more experience has managed to find anything much to suggest so far, I really feel for you! Googling around a bit I found this for another HTC phone - might be worth trying.
Pull the battery, hold down the volume up key and stick the battery back in and press the power button keeping the volume up held down. After that (apparently that does a different type of boot again), pull the battery once more, this time hold down the volume down button and stick the battery back in. Hit the power still holding the power down and see if that lets you back to recovery...
It's not much but better than nothing ands worth a try. The other site it was mentioned on it worked for getting back to the recovery menu but it was a different device...
Thank you danny for mentioning this, i already tried that too, i think the device is bricked , i am going to try a box one of my friends has, then ill post what will happen here..
thank you again for all who shared their knowledge
That must be a new method of bricking a device. Never heard anything similar. One should think twice before updating YouTube lol
Sent from my Incredible S using XDA
can you try one more thing?
- Get a ROM with the recovery image contained in the zip file. The name should be recovery.img. If not get a recovery image for IncS and copy it over into the ROM's zip file
- Then rename the ROM zip file to update.zip and put it on the SD card
- Then boot the phone using the Vol Down+Power button to go into HBOOT
See if HBOOT will detect this update.zip file and automatically flash the ROM.
Nothing but that screen i am able to get, no hboot no recovery, i used the ORT box, to fix the hboot, and now working like charm
I've never encounter a situation where after youtube.apk update you need a reboot..
Are you sure it was 'just' the youtube you changed. Also was it offical via Playstore?

Stuck on the Redmi logo, Shows Snapdragon logo after 10-15 minutes

I put my phone on the charging while sleeping, and in the morning I see the Redmi Powerd by Android screen. I tried to restart long pressing the power button. But the phone is stuck on that screen. Not even able to enter into recovery mode or fastboot mode.
If I press any volume buttons in combination with power button, the phone is not getting started. Simple power button starts the phone but stuck on the redmi logo screen.

Whatever I'm trying to boot into it doesn't work. As far as I remember, I've not unlocked the bootloader, but I'm not sure.
The device was on MIUI 12.5 last update.
Any help?
By any chance, did you fix this somehow?
