[Q] Moonshine Failed..... Now locked up - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just been using Moonshine to get S-OFF. Am on Windows 8 and connectivity had been fine during recovery, root etc. However it failed at the second step at an ADB Error and had no option but to Exit the Distiller app. Now the HTC One is stuck at the Recovery options screen, with Fastboot USB highlighted, but no buttons, power or volumes have any effect.
Please can someone advise what to do next.... Thanks

From the guide you linked, gray screen is normal:
Step 6:
When you start your command prompt follow the steps in the picture below. PLEASE BE PATIENT!! After flashing the ENG HBOOT your HTC One will not boot up but you'll just get a gray spotted screen. Your device is not bricked. You can still use adb commands to write the model ID and CID even with a gray screen. WHEN REBOOTING HOLD DOWN POWER BUTTON FOR A FEW SECONDS. You might have to press and hold power button and volume down button when rebooting your phone

But I tried "HOLD DOWN POWER BUTTON FOR A FEW SECONDS" and nothing happend - just gray screen.
I flashed zip and progress bar stopped at ~80% (on rebootRUU) so I reset it and saw gray screen - I tried do this few times and phone just restarted dand stopped at gray screen.
Mayba I should wait longer ?
Yea the eng hboot took a while to even show up on my phone. It says the adb commands will still work, did you change the numbers already? It won't boot up right if you don't flash an hboot intended for our phones after you're done
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Have you read the thread in the link you posted? It says it gets stuck at 80%, reboot and your phone will have a grey screen, proceed to next step, which is writing the MID.
You've stated that you did the first two but now it's at a grey screen ... Do the next step like it tells you. I don't get why you keep rebooting it and questioning the grey screen when it tells you that is normal and tells you what to do next?

I'm also able to type in fastboot command but now adb, what can I do??? Did I just brick the most amazing phone???
I'm stuck on the same gray screen and I can't do anything. It's not accepting fastboot commands and says waiting for device and RUU is not recognizing the device

I don't get why ppl are still using this method to change the MID despite all the warnings posted in the old thread where you can find the instructions how to flash the eng hboot. There are now really faster, easier and safer methods to change the MID.
So I guess you have flashed the eng hboot using a windows 8 or 10 computer right and now you don't have fastboot connectivity anymore? The eng hboot is version 1.43 and windows 8 and 10 are only supported since version 1.54. If this is the case, you'll have to find a Windows 7 computer to finish the process. Note that you'll need to use a 1.xx.xxx.x RUU.exe. Using newer RUU with this method will not work.

[Q] Totaly bricked?

@alray
i did search arround, but haven't found nothing similar with my problem..
i able to recover a phone if i cannot enter in fastboot or recovery. in bootloader it works but it freezing in the moment i push power button to choose fastboot or recovery. also it doesn't boot normal-> it's starting, showing the "htc powered by android" screen then goes off.
mention: in the bootloader is no "Active CMDline overflow" message.
only thing i'm interested if it's possible recover from this.

try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2739126
if you're S-Off and it doesn't work then you need to downgrade hboot first. if you are S-On and it doesn't work, then
stuck at 1st step.. "fastboot devices", nothing listed.
i have drivers instaled, also the Universal Adb Driver. what am i missing? if i try the to flash anyway the recovery it says <wait for device>

i can select fastboot, but when i press power button, the bootloader freeze. it does not enter in FASTBOOT USB.neighter in recovery or any of the options of the bootloader. it's freezing with the option highlited after i press power button. after the freeze, only thing i can do is to keep power button+volume down, to restart to bootloader, where again, if i choose any of the options, it freeze again. also doesn't boot in normal mode, it's just showing the "HTC powered by android" then goes off.

what hboot are you on? 1.44?
unplug the cable,
force reboot,
select FASTBOOT,
when it shows FASTBOOT (in red),
plug the cable to your computer, and it should change to FASTBOOT USB
.
1.57,
it remains highlithed in blue. it freezes highlighted in blue.
there you got it. i recorded what happens, if you have patience 2-3 mins.
ignore the cracked screen, i disassambled the phone to disconnect the battery, in hope of something would work after.. and did not matter for me if that i damaged it, i have new full housing with touchscreen for it.

[Q] bootloop and no access

HTC M7 unlocked
s-off
hboot-1.57.000
android 4.4
i think 'twrp-2.8.6.4-m7univ'
usb debugging on
adb on pc win 8.1
all driver incl. fastboot
tried till now
° 'power' 15sec pressed
° 'power+volume up' 15sec pressed, ( htc logo, immediately after black screen jumped from volume up and pressed 'power+volume down' - short vibration, htc loge ( beep from windows - but recognizes only a blank CD drive), than stuck in google bootanimation
° 'power+volume down' same result like before that - if i continuing to press both there is the vibration, htc logo, beep from pc, black screen, vibration, htc logo,.....
tried all with or without usb-connection, also after one our pause - always the same result.
i.e., can't enter neither fastboot nor recovery so i haven't access to my M7 to flash anything
is there any possibility to reactivate the phone ???
thx a lot in advance

Mmm... I think it's good that you can still get to the boot animation. What happened before this one by the way? Did you flash a ROM or something? Was your phone converted to a different variant?

Mmm... You said that when you plug it in, Windows 8 detects it. What does Windows 8 say it is? Go ahead and open device manager in windows 8 by going to the start screen and simply typing "Device Manager". Lastly, what variant is your M7? International, AT&T, T-Mobile, sprint or verizon? If it's from Sprint or Verizon you may have flashed a ROM that is NOT for your phone.
it's an international
Unknown USB device
Google-Plus-Edition-LP_m7_v2.06_030615 - the rom is for my phone
edit: now it is shown as HTC MTP device
i faced like this problem ,,, try this solution

Your phone being detected as a "zeus flash device" is for sure a drivers issue. Try to uninstall anything related to whaterver "zeus" is from your computer and then install the latest HTC drivers, boot the phone in bootloader / fastboot usb mode and post the output of "fastboot getvar all".
Hi I can't get into fastboot mode . as when I boot into bootloader with power and volume down , I can move through items with volume button but when I press power button to select fastboot nothing happens its as if the bootloader freezes , I have to hold vol up and power to turn off then get into bootloader again but still power button not working in bootloder but works to get in to bootloader

HTC one (m7) Unlocking Bootloader with broken volume buttons

I tried to unlock the bootloader on my HTC One [m7]. I've followed all the steps on htcdev.com. I managed to skip the manual (vol. down + power) way to get in to fastboot using adb.
Code:
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot oem get_identifier_token
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
However, I'm at step 10 (imgur.com/4mYYF5V.jpg) and I'm stuck. If my volume buttons are working, all I have to do is press vol. up and then select "Unlock bootloader".
Is there a way to get past this?
Thanks.

No. Your need the volume button to work. You have 2 options: fix the volume button or buy the Sunshine s-off to s-off and unlock.

Thanks for the response. I'll take a look at Sunshine.
Was hoping to find a workaround like maybe rebind the volume button (like bind vol. up to home button).
But this will probably do the trick.
Thanks :good:
